well, you basically siad it in your title, you need a plan and youve got to stick with it!!  like your idea of adding something which you can just easily get rid of later but youre likely to end up needing more than that to gain!!

i would probably have the drink in the morning, so youve got it over and done with :)

im not sure of your stats but the kind of plan youre looking for would be something like:

breakfast: carb protein + fat and fruit/veg = around 600 cal

snack: your drink! + something to equal 300cal

lunch: again carb protein + fatand fruit/veg (eg. 2 pieces of bread (200) 2 oz of cheese (240) and a dressed salad (200) ) = 600ish

snack: again something equal to 300 cal, like yogurt and granola, a muffin/cookie or something like a cliff/luna/lara bar with a glass of milk/fruit juice

dinner: carb, protein, fat and fruit/veg again (seeing a pattern??) like 100g of pasta with a beef/soy mice bolognese and some grilled/roasted veggies! 600 cal again

snack: another 300 will get you up to the recommended (for gaining) 2500, you could have a hot choc and biscuits, or some oatmeal with banana and pb....anything you fancy :)

im guessing youre at home, sick rather than home-sick!! i think reading is really relaxing....also hen im ill i normally feel tired and sleep more!!

also, i end up doing college work...because i know im missing stuff so its good not to get behind :)

ok so *breathe* :)

dont be scared, really the doctors will help!!

first, ive gotta say i wish my school forced me to go to the doctors before it got so far!! youre pretty lucky

anyway, the doctors wont do anything to you, theyll ask questions about how much you eat, how you feel about eating etc. just be honest! i dont think theyll 'make' you do anything (ie inpatient) because of your attitude, you seem to want to get healthy and gain so theyll be very willing to give you a chance :D they probably will do bolld tests, but maybe not that day, its just important to check everything is working ok and youre not defficient in anything!

also, if you see a nutritionist, they wont try to make you eat junk, as long as you show youre willing to eat higher calorie healthy foods such as nuts and olive oil :)

what do i think of your current condition?? yes, youre underweight and you need to gain, but form this message i feel your mindset is more healthy, which means you probably will be very successful in getting better!

you'll def. still be able to go to school, but playing tennis im not so sure...sorry :( but you should use that as motivation to get better :)

oh wow! i had to reply to you because you are me one year ago :) i was diagnosed 3rd sept. last year at 5ft3 and 36kg! i was in exactly the same boat as you!

i know its sooo hard to deal with starting to gain but you know you've got to do it! i found having goals was really important, for example me and my dad agreed a weight at which i could go to the gym again :) if you did that, you would be motivated to gain a soon as possible

as for getting flabby...its a completely irrational fear, but i do relate to you. i can honestl say that i gained a good 5kg and didnt notice a difference :O my little theory is that so much damage has been done to our insides, thats more important and therefore the first thing to be repaired, so we dont notice the gain :)

how old are you out of interest?? and, for your plan, is the amount of food being increased immediately, or a bit each week?

im 17 now, and ive gained 10kg :D i still fit into to clothes i wore a year ago and i think i look a damn sight better :) believe me the more you gain, the more confident you feel and the less the ana thoughts will be in your mind

hey guys, sorry ive not been around! ive been feeling great and am trying not to count, soi find it hard to write down my food and not add it up haha

anyway, im glad youre all doing well :)

just for the last time, heres yesterdays food:

breakfast: oatmeal with apple, raspberries and blueberries and a toffee yogurt

snack: nakd cocoa loco bar (like a larabar) and 200ml milk

lunch: one cheese toastie and one banana toastie and a actimel yogurt

snack: a packet of snack a jacks and a packet of mini hobnobs with 200ml fresh orange juice

dinner: whole chicago town pizza :O and stir-fry followed by 25g choc.

snack: banana and strawberry yogurt shake and oatmeal with honey

hey guys, sorry theres no personal replies, ill catch up later :)

so, i felt better yesterday and managed my normal intake :

breakfast: apple and cinnamon oatmeal with 3x actimel yogurts!

snack: glass of milk, cheese on toast and 2 homemade oatcakes

lunch: quorn and veg bolognese and a nakd raw food bar

snack: 2 homemade butter biscuits dipped in ginger hot chocolate

diner: garlic and corriander tortilla with falafel, tzatsiki, hoummous and salad

snack: pb and banana milkshake and oatmeal with soymilk

well ive never actually broken anything (touch wood!) but...

playing hockey, i got smacked in the head with a stick, passed out and woke up in A and E later with stitches in my head (apparently alot of blood) and was concussed for 2 weeks

skiing, not my fault, but some IDIOT was completely out of control and decided to use little old me to stop himself which ended up with me being incredibly bruised all over my body and in agony trying to ski for the rest of the week :Z

i have many scars form my childish immaturity haha (as well as some from dunken stupidness)

hey guys, sorry ive missed a few days, im ill ;( everything has been going straight through me so i havent been managing alot!

heres today anyway:

breakfast: oatmeal with apple and soymilk

snack: yogurt and a glass of milk

lunch: banana and pb oatmeal with soymilk

snack: 6 oatcakes

yea...i know...bland or what...and even thats not staying in :/

agruskin hang in there girly :) i know how hard it is when your thrown out of your routine but it really is good...on holiday i ate out every meal and since ive been back ive felt more relaxed about food, eventhough im still counting and thinking about it :/ also, i understand the frustration with your mum, my older sister (by 2 years) has, for nearly a year, been doing alot of the things i did at the begining of my ED and i feel like theres nothing i can do to help her!

aussie ah clothes shopping can be such a bugger!! do you have asda in ireland?? they do size 4 haha ive got a pair of size 4 jeans from there that were £7 :O and ive worn them to death :) but, theyre really tight now, so im going shopping next week!

theo omg ive never met anyone besides myself that does the yorkshire pudding dessert :) soooo good, theyre also good if you fill them with stewed fruit (apple/rhubarb i like) and then cover in custard :P

hey, glad to see everythings still good keep it up guys :)

theo ahhh cafe nero :) i have one really near my college, ive missed it all summer especially their white choc raspberry muffins....i think i have a bit of a love affair with them haha well done on the 2400 keep it up!

gibbit haha i know a few guys like that...they appear gay sometimes, but sometimes are quite straight! i find guys like that are sooo nice though, like theyre good a talking and things, dont worry about the food just try to have a good time and enjoy the company :D

agru oh parents can be a pain sometimes right?? mine didnt eat anything but lunch and dinner when we went on holiday, complaining it was too hot :Z dont let it stop you though, order them to let you grab a bite haha, you have to put yourself first :) and its fine to ask, im actually about 95lb now and started exercising at about 90lb, but then i only did a weight routing and walked on the treadmill at an incline for about 20mins! i think its important to start off slowly so you can gauge how much extra you need to eat, once i worked out the intake i needed to gain doing this, it was easy to do a bit more and eat a bit more :D

toast dont feel like youre jumping in, everyones welcome :) being referred to a dietician is great, mine was fantastic and we takled about all issues, not just food haha! and dont worry about the psychiatrist, theyll ask a ton of standard questions like how much you eat, how do you feel after eating, why do you feel like that, you just need to be honest, i was only honest after i had been through 3 psychiatrists and it made the world of difference :) as to how much to eat, i cant help without stats!!

so heres yesterdays foodies ;) :

breakfast: 200g of yogurt, an apple and oatmeal with strawberries and soymilk!

snack: i piece of ww cheese on toast and a frappuchino

lunch: vegetarian sushi and a packet of ryvita minis and a glass of strawberry milk

snack: 1 piece of homemade chocolate mess (havent had it for years)and a hot chocolate

diner: vegetable and chickpea paella!

snack: banana, yogurt and strawberry milkshake and oatmeal with honey

hey everyone, just replys now, i will post foods later!!

linny well done running every day!! i dont do every day, about 4 times a week :) in terms of time i go for 30-40 mins depending on how much energy i have haha and it ends up being 4ish miles, sometimes more sometimes less :D i plan to start going every day, but i need to increase a bit more first!

i love having a bit of fruit pre run...i think the sugar gives me a boost, the only reason i really have the toast/other carb is because i worry about not having enough haha

agru im really not that fit!! i find it much harder when i run outside compared to the treadmill and id really like to go outside more! quality street are chocolates....they tend to be about 40cal each roughly, theyre things like toffees, fudge, strawberry cremes etc, its all a mix!!

lala im sorry about your dad, and your finger!! i know my mums a huge contributing factor to my ED too, it basically started within months of her becoming bad, i felt like i alomst had no time to eat because it had to do so much (i looked after my little brother, the house etc)...parents, sake!

Breakfast food: OATMEAL!! and its even better if it had pb in <3

Italian dish: well pasta in general....an i love a creamy gorgonzola sauce

Mexican dish: veggie fajita

Drink: erm...strawberry milk/diet coke/wine!

Dessert: i cant choose...sticky toffee pudding?? or cheesecake, tirimisu, crumble??

Chinese dish: vegetable chow mein (im simple)

Appetizer: deep fried camembert!

Diet food/product: diet coke!!

Winter comfort food: hmm...thats hard, maccaroni cheese?!?

Summer comfort food:ahh ice cream!! in a sundae!! with lots of fruit and maybe yogurt/honey

Birthday treat: birthday cake!

Fast food item: well i dont like fast food, but i guess pizza

Frozen food: quorn :)

Food to bake: anything with pb

Food to cook: pasta...i love all the different sauces you can do

Type of Pizza: four cheese or vegetable...cant choose

breakfast (post run): oatmeal with milk an activia yogurt

snack: 5 quality street!! and 2 hot chocolates

lunch: cheddar cheese toastie on ww bread dippe in salsa

snack: granola topped with strawberries and berry yogurt

dinner: homomead thai green vegetable curry with peanut noodles

snack: pina colada shake :P (coconut milk, banana, pineapple and orange juice) and a slice of brioche

ok well im sorry i cant give tons of replys because im just lost on this forum today!! too many posts :)

firstly, agruskin well done on the gain :D im so pleased for you and its so great that youre positive! and way to go with dealing with eating out, its good to change up your routine and challenge yourself!

meesh ive just read your post yesterday, you are SO strong and such an inspiration!! i have experienced similar (my mum is a violent alcoholic) but i completley caved in and let it affect me, you really are amazing :)

aussie yey!! well done with the college!! it sounds great :D a new start will do wonders, i had one last september (moved schools) and its whats really motivated me because i just want to appear normal

headingup using running as motivation is great, it waht i did, and 90lb is a good idea, i think were similar heights and tbh i wouldnt have managed it when i was smaller, and i had to start off very gently anyway!!

keep up the amazing spirit everyone!!

i think you really need to use tis opportunity and get all of your worries out no matter what!! the number of thime my mum took me to the doctor and i refused to tell anything....well i know now that if i had taken those opportunities i sure wouldnt be in the situation i am now :/ (trying to gain weight)

also, off topic a bit sufferinghearts many doctors genuinely dont understand...my dad is a GP and when he found out i had anorexia he just saw it as an illness the medicine for which was food...he genuinely thought it was as simple as eat and be better!

hey tiger welcome :) theres nothing wrong with being a lurker, i was for ages, but its great youve decided to post!

on the hair loss, i can tell you for a fact that the condition of your hair reflects your health 3 months earlier, so if you were restricting 3 months ago, theres your reason!! but, on the plus side if you continue to eat healthily then it wil stop an eventually thicken up again :)

but, this may not happen if you carry on restricting, which even though you are eating more than previously, you are still doing now! you need to eat at least 1200 and probably more! if you gain weight on small amounts, have a read of the 'uping cals to loose' thread because there are many positive stories of people in similar situations :D

heyy everyone!!

yesterdays food:

breakfast: oatmeal with apple and soy milk, 2 actimel yogurts and pb on toast

snack: 1 packet of ryvita minis and a muller yogurt drink thing (wew were out)

lunch: ww pita bread with grated cheddar, apple and carrot with mustard dressing

dinner: main, a huge plate sized yorkshire pudding filled with veggie sausages, roasted squash, potatoes and parsnips and green beans, dessert, apple crumble and a glass of wine :P

snack: ww toast topped with homemade hoummous and 3 quality street

snack: strawberry and banana shake and oatmeal with honey

gibbit please dont let me make you feel lazy, if anything i feel weak reading your posts, you manage to eat more and not exercise where as im not that strong!

headingup it was me who decided to start running again!! i didnt talk to a GP or anyone, but my parents are ok with it (they pay for gym membership haha) and my dad is a GP so he can keep an eye on me haha, but i didnt start until my weight was above 90lb (im 5ft3-4...not sure)

hello everyone!! just some replys for now,

aussie thankyou!! how long i run for depends on how energetic i feel lol, but if i go to the gym its 30-40 mins at arond 6.5mph, if i run outside (we have a track down by the river which is really nice) i tend to be out for 40 mins, but i think i might run slower and ill have maybe a  min walking break halfway through!! but i always eat back what i burn! (hence the huge dinner last night!)

agruskin thankyou too, its me who does the cooking, i always enjoyed it when i was younger and because food was on my mind so much because of the ED ive actually become quite good :)

linney haha i like wine so much i have to be careful...it goes straight to my head :D but its a good thing because it oes mak me worry less and often makes me hungry (even though i dont drink that often)

yesterdays food:

breakfast (pre run): apple, choc fudge granola bar and actimel yogurt

breakfast (post run): oatmeal with soy milk

snack: 4 quality street chocolates and a fudge hot chocolate with milk

lunch: garlic and corriander tortilla filled with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, yogurt, black olives and feta cheese

dinner (earlier than usual): sweet chilli vegetable wontons for starter, sweetcorn omelette with new potatoes and salad for main and homomade choc. mousse topped with white choc and strawberies for dessert, and a glass of rose wine!!

snack: a glass of strawberry milk and yogurt with rhubarb and blueberries

snack: banana and yogurt smoothie and oatmeal with soy milk

god looking at that it seems like alot!! basically, my older sister's boyfriend has come for the weekend, hence the mega 3 course dinner plus wine!! and the same will be happening again today :O

theo ah yes nutella <3 i love the choc hazelnut combo :) although sometimes i feel i eat too much unhealhy food :/

headingup thankyou!! they do sell almond wilk in the uk :O in large supermarkets they have it with the UHT stuff and powdered milk, and they sell it in healthfood stores like holland and barret or julian graves! also, the choc fudge granola bars are homemade :P just find a simple choc chip granola bar recipe on the net and replace half of the choc chips with chunks of fudge!! and the hot chocolate, i make it in a saucepan lol, heat the milk and chocolate powder and stir until it becomes normal hot chocolate then add the actual chocolate and whisk...dont heat it too much though the choc can burn (i have experienced this :/)

suzyroo yey welcome back im glad cornwall was good, i always find that being forced out of my little routine for a week or so really helps and forces me to make certain changes (like less exercise) which are then easier to keep up at home! well done with you As levels too :) we must be the same age, i got mine back on thursday, all As ... i was so shocked! keep up the positive attitude :)

i love that everyones so chatty too :) we have our own little support group going!

gingerbreadmaan welcome :) congrats on deciding to gain!! i can tell youre in the UK by youre foods (snack a jacks, branston pickle!) if im honest i do agree with others that youll probably have to cut down on your exercise a bit at some point, youll hit a gaining plateu where you cant eat more but still arent gaining (been there). i can make some suggestions for your meals, firstly, make breakfast much higher cal, if you eat it in the morning its done n dusted, try oatmeal, its very easy to make high cal by adding things like fruit, honey or pb (or all those things) also try a snack between breakfast and lunch!! also youre afternoon snack, you could easily add cals to that by having normal crisps instead of snack a jacks (or even better try vegetable/soy crisps) and instead of the protein bar, how about something like an eat natural bar, its basically just fruit and nuts so all good :) sorry if ive gone on a bit

linney i agree we do eat similar things :D i adore toast, especially thick sliced, cant believe i used to eat weight watchers bread!! (bad times) i have pb, jelly, honey, golden syrup or nutella (which is a choc hazelnut spread) for sweet things, and cream cheese or marmite for savoury <3

Happy birthday agru!! and well done with the ice cream :)

aussie oatmeal = porridge, and i make it with milk in the microwave, tastes sooo much better that with water (yeuch)

so heres what i had yesterday (oops i forgot to post!)

breakfast: apple, oatmeal with milk and an actimel yogurt

snack: toast with 20g pb and a chocolate fudge granola bar

lunch: 2 slices ww bread filled with falafel and tomatoes (a pret inspired sandwich) and a hot chocolate with 40g melted choc in!

snack: yoghurt topped with rhubarb compote and 25g crumbled hobnobs

dinner: egg noodles with spinach, soy sauce, sweetcorn and sweet chilli marinated tofu (a veggie tofu stirfry)

snack: milkshake with banana and strawberries and a bowl of oatmeal with honey!!

i will post todays food later

so ill post my food later but i just thought id rely to some posts

aussie thankyou!! and its nice to see someone has faith in me haha my dad was so shocked at the results before he said there wasnt much point in applying to oxford! and its great youve started gaining, half a lb is nothing to worry about. as for dealing with it, i have a silly litle thing i do where i mentally psych myself out to see like a 5lb gain, which never happens so when i see that its less i feel ok, kind of satisfied i guess (which probably isnt really good :/) but youll get uesd to it, its healthy and natural :)

aqua i love italian too!! i got wild mushroom gnocchi and it had blue cheese in the sauce (i love blue cheese) it was def good, and i shared a tiramisu with my sister for dessert! i agree that risotto is really good too!

charliebo thankyou!! wow ive never been described as inspiring before :) i think its great that youve stopped using the exchanged because theyre making you eat less, that shows that you must be committed to recovery and i agerr that EDs can be beaten and completely go away! keep it up :D

linny you miss the uk, i miss the US haha whenever i come on holiday i eat such a variety of cuisines i love it! and i miss the cheesecake factory....when i came last summer i was just starting recovery and i decided that id just eat a ton one night, i had this huge bowl of pasta and a piece of white choc raspberry cheesecake, that has to be my favourite meal ever! pumpkin pancakes?? recipe please! ive never had pumpkin as a sweet thing :O

gibbit i love gnocchi too, when at home if i have it for dinner i eat like 2 portions (they say 150g per person, rediculous)

lala im glad youre getting to do the subjects you want to this time :) im in college, and the best advice i can give you is, when you have a break of free lesson EAT!! haha im always eating, i take little bags of garnola, nuts, dried fruit etc that are calorie dense and can be munched on in a lesson without attracting too much attention!

hey all

so i went out for a meal last night and it was so good,i love italian food and the chef who my parents know is from italy and the food tasted just as it did in rome :)

angel dont worry about talking to the therapist, i saw one once, and i felt the same as you (no emotional issues anymore) so it was such a pointless session she said dont come back because i dont think you need me haha

headingup yey oxford, way to go you!! im only in As year but im applying to oxford in september :) hopefully going to do physics

alysha i can completely relate to you im so comfortable in my skin at the moment, the most comfortable ive ever been, but i know ive got to gain those last 10lb, i just try to tell myself im going to look even better! the problem i have is everyone thinks ive recovered because i look healthy and normal, but my bmi isnt there yet :( but at the moment im eating the most i have during recovery so i guess ill just see what happens! keep it up though youre doing really well :D

agruskin yey wey to go with the burger :) i like the idea of one meal out a week where you dont think of calories, i think thatd help me too!

hey all im in such a FAB mood ive got all As in my exams :) aaahhh :D going out tonight to celebrate

headingup congrats, feels good doesnt it! which uni ar you into??

breakfast: apple, yogurt, granola bar and 200ml strawberry milk

snack: soycrisps and a piece of banana, date and raisin cake <3

lunch: pret's summer brie-zie sandwich (roast veg and brie cheese)

later: probably some pb oatmeal as a snack then im going out, so alcohol :P but first an italian meal (my fave)

hey everyone!! wow i wasnt around yesterday and theres been soo many posts its hard to catch up!!

aussie congrats on your exam results!! you should celebrate in style :) i have my a-level resulst tomorrow :Z i think im going to be up all night stressing!

angel its great having more energy isnt it! ive had so much more even upping my cals by a few hundred, i ran the furthest ive ever run the other day and it felt great (ate it all back of course!)

butterfly granola in the uk, jordans do some different ones which are good, and theres a brand called morningstars! oh and dorset cereals do one which is probably the tastiest, although eat naturals one is pretty good too.....as you can see i like granola

agruskin its your birthday :D eat what you want girl make the day a good one! oh and zuppa de pesce = seafood soup :P

ill post my food later, im still eating! oh yea and go UK!
