Weight Loss Have your taste buds changed since you started improving your diet? Jul 18 2009

Im on the other side of the fence, my taste buds NEVER change.  Its very unfortunate and makes it very very hard to stay on track, especially since I'm an emotional eater also.

I can diet for months on end with no breaks but my tastes never change and I don't get the sick feeling when I eat badly either.

Im jealous of yall :(

Original Post by summerlovin13:

hmm ive always wanted to try sushi but idk where to start....ive had plain seaweed and its nasty in myopinnion...but i like tuna and salmon alot and any kind of veggie and im not too particular about the sauce...have a good suggestion for me?

i started with the more americanized rolls (california, bagel, philly, etc) then moved on to like the rainbow roll and just fish rolls without the extras, then to the sushi (fish and rice) and sashimi (just fish).  If you want to go straight for the good stuff, start off with white tuna or yellowtail.  IMO those are less fishy than say the mackrel.  Salmon is fantastic if its super super fresh and sliced thin.

my favorites are yellowtail, salmon, and fatty tuna (toro).  I usually would get a couple of each with a rainbow roll.  SO likes it all too but is a bigger fan of the giant deep fried rolls with like 10000 ingredients :D Actually I just love the entire menu.

are you saying you would take all that stuff off?

a house salad depends on the dressing, but normally with just the lettuce and tomatoes it would be probably less than 100.  Add cals for dressing, croutons, cheese, whatever else.

The entree salads are different. Based on calorie info from other restarants, 700-1800 depending on the salad.  It varies, a lot.

when i lived with a roomy, we shared basic stuff (milk bread flour eggs, etc) and had our own other stuff.  We had our own seperate shelves in the kitchen (she was darn near a foot taller, so she got the high shelves haha).  We also cooked for each other maybe 3X a week.

it also doesnt have bread it in?  If the person that submited it is anything like me, the person adds the bread (the cals for it I mean, log it seperate) in afterwards because of certain issues with products not being in the database and whatnot...

I think that every recipe people input is put into the recipe database...so I take the ones I use with a grain of salt...I input mine weird and really hope nobody follows them and would be super pissed if all my weird ones were deleted.

is your hair fairly short or is it longer?

If its longer, maybe try to cut it a bit so its not like...whoa what are you doing with those silver roots...I hope that made sense

That for me would be the worst part, not going gray but trying to grow it out....I would imagine youd look awfully funny there for awhile...two tone..or would it be tri tone with the brown/gray then full on brown...

I am EXACTLY the same way.  I think for me is that I mistake hunger for boredom.  If I'm having a busy day at work and am keeping occupied I dont think about food.  Otherwise its "when is my next snack..."

LOST is the only show that I get upset if I cant watch it Wednesday nights.  Wed night is my "dont bother me lost is on" night haha  I've got all 4 seasons on DVD that I can rewatch at a moment's notice if I get a hint of something I cant quite remember.  I didn't start from day 1 but I caught up fast when my SO moved in, hes a big fan also.

I have several shows that I like..House (which always seems to be on somewhere, the new law and order), Heroes, Grey's.....I dont get upset if I miss them though... I also like travel channel guys that..well travel...anthony bourdain, andrew zimern....and alton brown (but hes on food network)

mmmk heres what I had for dinner

sides: hungry girl's faux fried onion rings, sauted cabbage with s/p

main dish: chicken stuffed with carmelized onions, sauted mushrooms, garlic, basil and 1 ounce of goat cheese.

basically pound out the chicken until its flat (I used 1 chicken breast), saute the onions, mushrooms, garlic and basil..I added the garlic/basil last, and mix them with the goat cheese once they are browned to your liking.

Take this mix and spread it on the flat chicken.  Roll it up.  I put a bit of egg white and bread crumbs on the outside but its not necessary.  Bake 20-25 min at 350 :D

YUM! calories depend on how much of eat you like.

eta: last night I had a beef and cabbage stir fry with peanut sauce...google it..I just varied it a bit using PB2 and one serving instead of 4.  Asian food is awesome cause you can tweak stuff.

i cook my meals for the week on Sunday because I travel for work....heres my list for the day

-bananas

-strawberries

-lean ground beef

-LF cottage cheese

-FF yogurts

-greek yogurt 0

-zuchinni

-tomatos

-rye bread

-deli ham (usualy maple honey glaze because it tastes good..)

-baby swiss cheese

-ritz chips

-corn meal

-chicken stock low sodium

-tomato sauce

-brocolli slaw

-fiber one

-kashi cereal

-skim milk

ok that was long and I added some things I already had haha...all that stuff will make my meals for the week...the corn meal is for polenta for dinners.  taco meat and sandwhichs are also on the menu.  I use excel to plan my meals for the week so I know exactly what to get for each meal/snack then I base my list on that.  Its very helpful although probably a little overboard for the normal person

I have this issue too.  Unfortunatly when you travel for a living and are in meetings alot, peeing constantly is not an option, so some of the time (esp mondays/fridays aka travel days) i just cant get in all my water...

oh well

Itd be great!  But what I do to get around it is tag the recipe once I've already added it to my log as a "food" then tag the item in question under the same tag name.  So then when I eat that recipe again I just use the item tag to add both at the same time.

I hope that made sense.....I use it alot when I make hungry girl recipes using low sugar cake mix since I have to add the cake mix separately.
