| Fitness | How do I slim down legs? | Jun 26 2009 15:46 (UTC) |
|
I just wanted to say thanks for the help and suggestions, I have begun to notice some changes, I think I was being impatient because I hadn't been getting results very quickly. Buuuuuuut I have been running everyday and doing other exercises and while I don't strictly watch the grams of protien i take in, I make sure that when I eat meat to not ingest more than 4 oz at one time. My legs are definitely more toned and thinner, (not much thinner but a little) so I am feeling pleased over all. (plus finally getting a tan on winter legs helps boost the self esteem) |

Thanks for all your support! I do come from a long line of stocky people with larger legs so I might have to 'face the music' at some point but I will try that cycling and maybe the weight loss will yield some results. It just always seems my waist gets smaller and my legs barely change haha. Thanks again everyone. |

Aw have you been under alot of stress? I hope you take enough time ro relax. I am 5'2'' as well so I know how those extra pounds seems to make a big difference, but it seems you are at a pretty good weight now so don't be too hard on yourself. Those pounds will be gone before you know it. |

As far as the fluff goes I guess I am simply prejudice against something that reminds me of a melted Michelan man (haha I can't but think or him when I hear about fluff !) Thats great that you useso much organic stuff. Smart move, not all people realize its benefits. Way to go! |

If you are being healthy about it dont fret. I am trying to lose twenty pounds.( I would like to loose more later but this is my summer goal) I am 5'2''145 pounds and really want to get healthy/fit before I start nursing clinicals. My step-mom however doesn't want me to lost weight at all. She will buy delicious snacks that are hard for me to resist and makes really good meals. She is really thin and its hard for her to gain weight so she loves to watch people really enjoy their food. She says my current curves are beautiful and I dont need to lose weight. But I am not losing weight for her and you are not losing weight for your friends. many other people have already said this but I hope that I will be forgiven for my repetition; You made a goal and as long as you are being healthy and safe about it, you keep doing what you are doing. |

Here is just what i saw when I saw your food for the day: Your breakfast was really good and healthy as was you first snack. It all went down hill from there. Peanut butter is high in sugar (unless you buy organic stuff) and the fluff..not so good a choice. why not switch to a healthy substitue like a banana? Also, what bread did you use? if it was whole wheat/ grain its not too terrible but white bread it one of the highest things on the glycemic index and turns to sugar in your body really quickly with no fiber to make you body work to digest it. Pre-plan your number of pretzels to eat, it will sneak up on you if you just eat them without thinking about it. The carrots and hummus are a good healthy snack. You get an A on that one. Taco salad is a deceptive meal. It makes you feel good to think you are eating a salad but that red meat is high in calories as is the cheese depending on the type. Try fish or lean poulty instead and use part skim mozzarella as your cheese. You choices were not horrible but it can be frustrating to not realize how the calories add up. Try to find out the calories before you eat something so you know what you are getting into. There are plenty of small books that list calories and other nutritional information for different foods, also carry a small pad with you to record the calories, so you know when you hit your limit. Eventually you will train yourself to know the calories in some items and not need to constantly look it up. Best of luck! You can do anything you put your mind to! |

Its wonderful to hear the muscle building is going well! Its going to be an exciting process to see your body become stronger over time. Don't be concerned about the belly for now. Your goals will definitely be accomplished, it will just take a little time and patience. I greatly look forward to hearing more from you! |

a great way to enjoy these two foods is to take out a third of the banana, splitting it with your finger to seperate it into two pieces (a 1/3 piece and a 2/3 piece) the 2/3 pieces makes a little trough. Then put the PB in the v shaped trough and put the 1/3 piece back on top. A banana and PB sandwhich with no bread AND delicious! (I hope my description made sense haha) |

hm weird, I am nineteen and my doctor said for my age it's safe to take in 1200 calories but perhaps since I am a little closer to twenty one explains the difference in my allowed calories? Sorry if I gave any misleading information, it was not my intention |

Your bmi is currently at 16 a normal bmi is 18 (at the lowest possible level) Trust me when I say eating more will NOT make you fat. It seems to me you really want to workout hard but with out the fuel to do so you wont be doing an effective workout and you wont see the results you seem to want so badly. While I am not sure about you having such a drastic form of malnurtition that your stomach is extended (no offense ktjo) it is very worrisome to have such a low bmi and still be dieting to such an extreme extent. Be healthy and listen to your trainer. Consulting a doctor might not be a bad idea to get a better idea of what a safe plan can be for you. I completely understand how it can make you nervous to eat more because you fear gaining weight but muscle weighs more than fat so if you eat more and exercise it might go up on the scale but not because your fat but because you have a toned healthy body. Be safe and good luck! |

Haha I am the exact same build as you! I understand how you feel but misstrange is so correct about being our own worst critic. I feel chubby and overly plump but I also know there are some good features just like you have good features. The point isn't to look perfect its to feel good and healthy and strong. Measurements are a good move. You will be making progress the scale might not report. (which also means the bmi could seem to say your fat when you aren't) muscle weighs more than fat so it might seem you aren't losing weight when you actually are. (stay off the scale its only frustrating) go by how your clothes fit and if you seems to be able to run faster or longer than normal. Thats the benefit that really matters. (though looking good in a swim suit is also a good feeling haha) You'll be fine tixly pixly. |

Maybe you are made of tougher stuff than me but I feel like cutting calories that low will only make you miserable. while its true calorie counting is the most scientific method to lose weight and it can be reliable (usually) there are also emotions to weigh. If I eat that low of calories, by the end of the day I am ready to either flip out on someone or cry. haha. Something that really worked for me was south beach. I lost 20 pounds in a few months and I NEVER felt hungry. I agree with others that it would be beneficial to find a way to incorporate exercise. If your knee is injured then swimming is an excellent way to work out without putting pressure on it. |

Its possible to loose weight with only diet and its posible to lose weight with hard core exercising. The best results though are from a combination. The problem with just dieting is that with out exercise, you can lose weight but if you are looking to lose more than five pounds your skin will be more loose. And a little exercise in the morning boosts your metabolism so its easier to lose weight during the day. I understand completely how hard it is to fit in time for exercise, I know I struggle to sneak it into my schedule. The best thing I found was the 10 minute work out dvd's. They are literally ten minutes and yet do SO much. The kickboxing one burns 100 calories in 10 minutes. |
