Don't forget to look up coupon/promo codes. My favorites sites for these are couponcabin.com and retailmenot.com. You can always to a search with the store name and coupon code in a search engine as well. IMHO, you should never pay full price when shopping online.

Original Post by adolphs: I second this. I am naturally dark blonde and can't keep red in my hair for more than a few days. I've tried coloring my hair red at a salon twice now and both times it quickly faded to a lighter orangey color. Some hair just doesn't take color well. I'd love to go the color you showed in the picture, but my hair just isn't up for it. |

?are you buying a condo or a house? A condo probably. Be aware that if you're buying a condo/townhouse/house in an association that the association will frequently make special assessments. For instance, my association fees started at $175 and have gone up to $275 in the last 7 years in addition to an assessment between $1,000-$2,000 per year. You do not have a choice if the association votes in higher dues or assessments. Two things I have been asking is how old is the roof and how much is in the association's reserve fund. The lender and I used $300/mo as an estimate for condo fees although most of the properties I looked at are under $150/mo. I know they can do special assessments. Last year my friend's association was $19,000 over budget for snow removal because of all the crazy snow we got, but she was only charged $100. What were your special assesments for? |

Thanks Pgeorgian. It's interesting to hear what is going on in other areas. I'm glad it went so quickly for you. Its my understanding the the condo fees generally cover the common areas and things like landscaping, water, sewer, sometimes heating, etc. My actual mortgage payment is less than 30% of my current rent payment and I am budgeting for the other expenses, including taxes and condo fees at almost twice the amount of my mortgage. When I sat down with the lender, he said my situation is very rare in that my monthly expenses would be going down. All of my friends, co-workers, etc. that I asked about offers pretty much said that it really just varies on the individual property and how motivated the seller is. My next step is finding a real estate agent that I click with. Why are there so many duds out there? Does anyone have any insight on signing a buyer's agent agreement? |

| The Lounge | First Time w/ Vicodin... | Apr 01 2009 19:54 (UTC) |

Sorry to hear about your back. That sucks. I have been on vicodin a few times. The first time was several years ago when I had my wisdom teeth out and developed a dry socket. I never had a high feeling, and it seemed to help with the pain. However, once my prescription was up, I was practically begging the dentist for a refill, despite experiencing little to no pain. I had this panic feeling that I would be in great pain if I didn't get more. Luckily my dentist didn't give me anymore and I was fine. Fastforward several years and I was prescribed it again for my broken arm. I needed it because it was the worst pain I've ever had. I took the maximum dose as frequently as possible and it didn't really seem to help all that much. I had terrible stomach aches and crazy scary nightmares on it. I ended up getting prescribed Percocet, which is stronger on the pain and easier on the stomach. With the Percocet, I experienced that high feeling you mentioned. I loved it and it helped with the pain. However, I found myself taking the pills even when I didn't need them. Basically I had to just completely quit taking them, but my pain had already decreased. I guess the point is, everyone has different experiences, but it is quite easy to get addicted. I would make sure you are being honest with yourself about your pain level and need for the medication. Also, you should discuss your concerns with your doctor. There may be a less addictive alternative. You really just need to wiegh the risks versus the benefits and ask yourself how bad you need this medication. When my boyfriend's back acts up, he is out for days if he doesn't take his pills. Crawling to the bathroom on his hands and knees and all. You should be fine on the minimum dose for a limited amount of time under doctor supervision, but definitely keep an eye on it. |

Calorie counting actually makes me feel less guilty sometimes. Yesterday I binged on fast food twice and thought I totally went over my limit. I was considering giving up for the day and allowing myself to overindulge in anything and everything, but after I logged my food, I was still within my limit. It actually made me feel great after my binges because they weren't nearly as bad as I thought. |

I agree that you should tell him about your difficulty vocalizing your feelings. You shouldn't be forced to do something you don't feel comfortable doing. However, just try saying it, as it gets easier the more often you do. Just don't blow him off when he says it. If you can't say it back, at least acknowledge it by saying something like, "Aw, thanks hun." |

| Weight Loss | How often do you weigh yourself? | Mar 21 2009 17:23 (UTC) |
25 |
I weigh myself daily as well. I don't do it at the same time of day. Yes it flucuates by several pounds, but I don't worry about it. It's the overall trend I am looking at. I usually weigh myself every time I'm in the bathroom with the scale. Not because I am obsessing, but just because I am bored/curious. I've found that BMs don't make much of a difference for me. Sorry, TMI. Really its just a number though. I measure my success moreso on how I feel. |

| Weight Loss | Good zig-zag range? | Mar 18 2009 21:19 (UTC) |
|
I haven't tried zig-zagging, but I would try and stick between a 250 and 750 calorie defecit, to average about 1lb a week. So if you burn about 2100 calories a day, the 1350 would be the lowest you'd want to go. I'd say you could probably even go as high as 1850. It really depends on how many calories you burn. |

| The Lounge | Egg Donation | Mar 08 2009 14:49 (UTC) |

I would never do this by responding directly to an ad on Craigslist. After looking into other sites, like www.donoreggs.com and www.eggdonor.com it seems like the compensation is $5000-10,000, depending on how in demand your eggs are (specific religion, atheltic aspriations, model looks, etc.). I think $6,000 from an agency seems more legit than $20,000 from some random couple. The second site is the one I looked into more, and they provide you with an additional insurance policy and a lawyer to go over the contract with. I guess it sounds like a good opportunity for someone who meets the qualifications and has no attachment to their eggs. Personally, I received good grades in school and scored well on my standardized tests, but have just average looks and no atheletic or artistic ability whatsoever. I initially wanted to say beggers can't be choosers, but when paying so much money for something, it would make sense that the couple would have such high standards. Also, I personlly would always wonder what attributes the person that came from my egg had. Punnett squares always fascinated me in biology. |

| The Lounge | Dog Owners - Leash Agression | Feb 21 2009 04:38 (UTC) |

Spiro, it sounds like I should start taking you on walks with me and my dog. The other dog is no match for you. My puppy loves other dogs when they are playing off leash together (she's only off leash at home or doggy daycare, never on walks). But on leash, it's a whole other story. I have watched many of Cesar's videos before, but he doesn't deal with what happens when his methods don't work. All three times, the other dog caught both of us by surprise, and I must admit that it scared me, which I'm sure worsened the situation. I try to be calm and distract her, but she can't hear me over the growling and barking (from both dogs). And the other owner repeatedly yelling the dog's name doesn't help the situation. Tonight she was with a friend and they were both laughing at it. I definitely don't give my dog treats or pick her up while it's happening. The other dog would probably eat them first anyhow. I tried telling the owner that it is illegal to have the dog offleash, but she couldn't care less. I feel like I have to walk my puppy in the middle of the night just to avoid this piece of junk dog owner and her dog. |

Thanks guys. I'm going to try and come up with a doable plan. I think for me it is definitely a matter of planning ahead. It has worked well for me in the past. I always end up overindulging or skipping workouts if I don't plan accordingly. I started by telling my boyfriend when I plan on going to the gym. I also logged my food for the day. I noticed a couple of forums to post goals, etc and plan on posting on those as well. My goal for this week is to have a 3500 calorie defecit overall. I decided I'm just going to go for it. |

I spoke with my insurance company and they said that in situations such as these, the apartment company is usually responsible. My insurance company is working with their insurance company and they are going to get it taken care of. I just found out from the doctor that I need surgery, so I am glad to have someone taking care of the situation for me. I am surprised at how much is involved in a simple fall and never knew how much a few broken bones hurt! Now all I have to do is work with my employer to get my short-term disability insurance to kick in for my lost wages. |
