| Weight Loss | Any shorties wanting to lose 10lbs with me? | May 21 2008 02:36 (UTC) |

| I'll do it! I might be the shortest one here, 4'10", hehe!
I'm at 121, down from 145, and my goal is 100-105 lbs. I would like to be 105 by July 12th as I am going to be a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding. We can do it! :-) |

| You look great, honestly from the first to last picture you don't even look like the same person! You're totally motivating me to stay on track. :-) | |||
| Weight Loss | i pretty much only have belly fat left, but it wont go away!? | Apr 24 2008 22:51 (UTC) |

| I have to agree with the person above me, I've heard watching your carbs is a good way to get rid of the fat around your tummy area. I've actually been doing the South Beach diet and it's been working really well for me and I feel much healthier than if I were to be doing Atkins because it balances out your fat intake. I feel your pain though, my tummy is the last thing I want gone and it's definitely camping out for a while with me. | |||

| It really depends on the person, all the BC I've ever been on has made me lose weight since my stomach is super sensitive and it makes me nauseous, some have made me crazy, etc. It just depends on what works for you. And most of the weight you would gain on BC would probably only be a few pounds from water weight, it's rare anyone gains more than that. But like the above poster said, talk to your doc if weight gain is a huge concern and they can probably steer you the right way. | |||

| Awesome! You can also pick something else besides eating clean if there are things you want to work on yourself, hopefully everyone can contribute what they need to work on and we can all support and inspire each other to stay on track! | |||
| Weight Loss | Fasting for Lent [religous season]... want to give up meat... need suggestions... | Feb 01 2008 04:18 (UTC) |
|
| TVP (textured vegetable protein) is a great meatless food as well, and it's extremely versatile so you can basically season it however you want it to taste and it replaces meat. I usually cook it with taco seasoning to make tacos or use it as the "meat" in a really flavorful vegetarian chili, you can even use it to make meatballs for spaghetti or throw in marinara sauce to give it a meat sauce texture. You can get it at whole foods or any sort of co-op that sells a lot of things in bulk/lots of vegetarian foods. There really are a lot of options if you have time to experiment. Good luck1 | |||
| Health & Support | i can't stop binging | Feb 01 2008 04:11 (UTC) |

| I'm right there with you! I pretty much gained 10 lbs over the holidays due to unnecessary binging, and now I really don't want to get back to my healthy habits after eating all that tasty food :-( I think I'm going to make a calendar and mark every day I go without binging so I can have something visual that helps me stay on track. It also helps if I have a planned cheat day each week, because if I have a craving I just tell myself to hold out until my cheat day, and a lot of times it's gone by then anyway. Good luck, and feel free to message me if you want to talk, I'm in the same exact situation you are. | |||

| MMm pizza! You could also have a bowl of veggie soup at home before you go so you can fill up a little and not have bites of everyone else's food, and because that seems like a pretty small pizza...I'm always guilty of that! But enjoy your pizza girl! | |||
| Weight Loss | How is everyone getting rid of those holiday pounds? I just can't seem to get motivated! | Jan 28 2008 03:18 (UTC) |

| That sounds like a really good plan, I think keeping a tally of how long I can have "good days" in a row and allowing a planned cheat day will help me a lot. I've at least been working out again so hopefully that will keep me in check as well. Thank you! | |||
| Weight Loss | What alcohol cld i drink thats not loaded with calories?? | Jan 07 2008 03:08 (UTC) |

| I also like mixing my drinks with Crystal Light (although you may not have it over there in the UK) the fruit punch flavor mixes especially with vodka and tequila, it has like five calories a serving and is quite tasty! | |||

| The Lemonade Crystal Light works really well in margaritas too...it's 1 oz of tequila with CL lemonade and diet sprite...super tasty, and if you add a little extra lemonade to make it more tart you really can't tell the difference from sour mix which is insanely full of sugar! | |||
| Weight Loss | Lose 10-15 pounds by Jan. 14, 2008 *MOVING TO GAMES AND CHALLENGES* | Nov 19 2007 02:59 (UTC) |

| I'm in...and actually me and the OP both are similar in height (I'm 4'10). I was 10 lbs away from my goal but then gained five due to a really bad two week binge and can't seem to shake them off, so I'm hoping to lose those five plus five more if possible. I'm 4'10", 119.4 lbs as of this morning, goal weight 100-105 depending on how I look and feel. I'm also trying to work out and be as healthy as possible in these six weeks until New Year's because I have an outfit I want to look hot in! We can do it! | |||
| Weight Loss | Thanksgiving "crash diet" | Nov 19 2007 02:55 (UTC) |
22 |
| I signed myself up to run a 5K Thanksgiving morning, so hopefully that will assist in any unplanned pig-outs...it's easy to turn down the pumpkin pie when it's not around, but when it's sitting in front of you with whipped cream, not so much! | |||
| Weight Loss | Afraid to weigh myself! | Nov 19 2007 02:53 (UTC) |
3 |
| I also notice when I think I've gone waaaay over goal, and I'm afraid to weigh myself, if I weigh myself shortly after my bad behavior it's almost never as bad as I imagined it would be...especially if you were sick, I wouldn't beat yourself up too much about it. | |||
| Weight Loss | I'm sure I'm in starvation mode but the numbers aren't adding up... | Nov 18 2007 18:01 (UTC) |

| Thanks all...I guess I will have to just keep doing what I'm doing, but I've been at this weight since February and I'm getting pretty frustrated about why these pounds aren't coming off! My BF even agrees that I eat very well and do high intensity exercise everyday so I'm definitely not telling myself I'm eating healthier than I am...I just don't know what to do! | |||

| I live in Chicago as well - and what else do I need to say besides deep dish pizza, hot dogs from street vendors, and going for runs along Lake Michigan in the morning? I lived in LA to go to school for a bit, and although I am much more of a west coast girl, my heart will always be at home in the Windy City! | |||
| Fitness | Coughing after jogging. | Nov 18 2007 05:43 (UTC) |

| This happens to me when I've been running outside as it's been getting colder...never happened in the summer but it has been happening for my past few runs. My BF chalks it up to cold weather, and I've never had this problem before so I'm hoping that's the case - I've heard running in cold weather can be really harsh on your lungs, and I've signed up to run a 5k on Thanksgiving and crossing my fingers I make it past the finish line before I start coughing like crazy! | |||
| Weight Loss | Arbour mist | Nov 18 2007 05:37 (UTC) |
|
| Arbor Mist has the nutrition info on the side of the bottle usually...they taste good but I usually drink regular wine just because it tends to have a slightly higher alcohol content and I'm very strict about drinking my calories unless they contribute to some good feelings! That makes me sound like a wino, I'm not! I swear, haha! I also take longer to drink a glass of wine than I do with mixed drinks, so I tend to be able to nurse one glass of wine in the time I would normally have 2-3 rum and diet cokes. | |||
| Fitness | Why I dislike the treadmill... | Nov 17 2007 04:22 (UTC) |
|
| Haha this is the story of my life! I feel your frustration. I also prefer running outside and don't even own a treadmill yet...I feel like I'm not making any progress when I'm on treadmills because I'm not going anywhere, and I prefer looking at trees and cars than the impersonal red blinky treadmill screen. Enjoy your run tomorrow! |

| Foods | I am obsessive about food... | Nov 17 2007 03:55 (UTC) |
8 |
| I am the same way..and I notice I only started being that way when I started dieting. When I ate what I wanted I thought much less about food because if I wanted three taco bell tacos and a gallon of ice cream for dinner, I could have it! I spend a lot of time weighing whether I was happier eating what I wanted and never exercising, or if I am happier now, 25 lbs lighter and fitting into a size 5. It helps when I make a conscious effort to think about other things and spend the smallest amount of time possible planning my meals while still allowing enough time to make sure I'm making healthy choices for the day. I also try to distract myself and think about clothes or what new dresses I want to buy when I get to my goal weight! | |||

| I love Fiber 1 bars becuse they fill you up and fit easily into your bag...and I swear the chocolate and oat flavor tasts just like an oatmeal cookie! I like veggie and hummus sandwiches, you could throw in some cucumber or tomato...or just put the hummus inside a whole wheat pita and it would be like hummus and pitas without needing to dip! I also like the idea of a few pieces of fruit or a no sugar added cup of applesauce. VitaMuffins are also awesome if you can find a store near you that carries them. Have a safe trip! |

| Weight Loss | Any black or ethnic girls here? others welcome | Nov 17 2007 03:16 (UTC) |
|
| Oooh I want to join! I am Mexican, Polish, and Lebanese, so I have some caucasian in me but sadly didn't inherit the typical caucasian body type. I don't have the typical Hispanic "booty", I actually wish my booty was a bit bigger but since I started running it's definitely gotten much more toned. I do unfortunately have a tummy that I inherited from most of the women on my mom's side of the family, and it doesn't help that I come from nationalities that love to eat and a family that loves to cook! I agree with whoever on this thread said they want to be strong and athletic moreso than being then, but I am hoping my tummy goes away on the road to getting strong and athletic! Hooray for all of us curvy ladies! | |||
| Vegetarian | Anyone here macrobiotic? And do you still count calories? | Nov 08 2007 18:15 (UTC) |
7 |
| Thanks! I actually went out and got that book yesterday after reading some reviews on Amazon.com. I'm thinking about slowly easing into it and just eating 1-2 macro meals a day until I get better at cooking the foods (not one of my strong points!) and can adjust to cutting out dairy. I still have about fifteen pounds to lose after losing 25, and I know people switching to macrobiotic diets can lose a lot if they're switching from cutting out fast food and junk food, but I rarely eat those things anymore and I've already had a significant weight loss, so I think watching my calories might help me (hopefully!) finally get to goal while eating really yummy foods. | |||
| Weight Loss | Please help... | Nov 08 2007 06:25 (UTC) |

| I think you need to talk to your mom and show her the healthy habits you've adopted while she's been away, and try to convince her to start doing them with you (I don't want to assume she needs to lose weight, but if she's thin and eats all the things she cooks then I am super jealous!) Even if she isn't overweight, it wouldn't hurt for you to take walks or do exercise videos together to stay in shape.
I still live at home and my family members are slightly overweight so I know how hard it is when they push food on you, especially when you're trying to be healthy. I've lost 25 lbs so far and want to lose 15 more, so I know how hard it is to get those last few off without people supporting you. I think if you sit down and talk to your mom and maybe even try to make some of your own recipes or find healthier ways to change hers without hurting her feelings, she will see you are trying to make a lifestyle change instead of doing some crazy fad diet. It will probably take a while for her to come around, but I think it will be easier if you can convince her to join you in your healthy changes. I was in the same situation with my mom and as soon as she started Weight Watchers with me her whole attitude changed. Good luck! |

| Weight Loss | I hid my scale, I've been on a five day binge, and I feel like a failure! | Oct 23 2007 22:10 (UTC) |

| Hi Catherine,
I am 21, about 115 lbs (on a good day, although I don't have my scale so I'm not sure at this point) and binges for me are usually when I eat foods I normally am not "allowed" to eat, eat more than I need to be full, or just eat because I can. I wish I didn't do it and realize I need to get to the bottom of my overeating issues...which really didn't start happening until I started dieting. |

| Weight Loss | Birthday cake :( | Oct 13 2007 07:10 (UTC) |

| I went to dinner with my friends tonight and they ordered this apple pie ice cream sundae thing...and I really wanted some...my friend made a good point in saying "You can have some, you never indulge yourself!" I think she had a good point. It's okay to indulge in foods like cake and things, especially if it's a special occasion, as long as you don't do it all the time. Enjoy the day! | |||

| I have yet to see the Cherry dark chocolate bars in my area, but they sound amazing! And I love the Fiber 1 bars as well - I get a box of 30 for 9.99 at costco, you really can't beat that! |

| Foods | Healthiest Cereal?? | Oct 10 2007 04:42 (UTC) |

| I am a cereal expert!
I pretty much only eat Fiber 1 cereal or Speciak K Protein Plus. Fiber 1 has 14 grams of fiber per half cup serving, and 60 calories. I really like eating it for breakfast as well as a snack - I usually do one cup (60 cals) with a half cup of 8th continent light vanilla soy milk, and the whole thing is 150 calories and it keeps me full for quite a while! The Special K is a little higher in calories and has less fiber, but I eat 2 servings of it on days when I have a little higher calorie intake and it still keeps me full because it has protein and fiber. As far as cereal goes, any brand works, but you have to make sure you don't get instant - the non-instant kind keeps you full for much longer, and it takes just as much time to cook (which is sort of weird.) I usually eat about 225 calories worth (3/4 of a cup) and it keeps me full for most of the morning so I just need a small snack (usually a banana or other piece of fruit) before lunch. Hope some of this info helps! |
