I can hardly wait until I can announce that I am at my optimum weight!!! Congrats Skookum!! SW 185 CW 175 GW 145 My goal is approximate because if I end up feeling good at 148 or 152 then that is where I will try to maintain. I just remember being 145 and being happy about it. I've had quite a few doctors appt lately as I just found out I am diabetic and alot of what we chat about is food. My doctor swears that there are no secret formulas regarding weight loss other than...what goes in, must be worn off or it gets stored. He told me plateaus are someones way of teaching us patience because if we are burning what we are consuming we will not gain and if we are burning more then we will lose weight. Its all just a matter of time and patience. On that note, do any of you have any alcohol based drinks that aren't really bad for you. I am a big fan of margaritas and we are leaving for holidays next week. Camping in the desert with friends and I know I am going to want to have drinks in the evening...any suggestions!! |

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention other websites on this forum but if I am...my sister emailed me this morning to tell me about a site she finds helpful. Its called hungrygirl.com and one of the nicest features is her "substitution recipes" My sister said she tried the "french fries" which are butternut squash cut like fries and baked with butter flavor pam and she said they are delicious!!! I looked up a substitute for buffalo chicken wings and found one that sounds fantastic...anyways..thought some of you might enjoy reading the tips and recipes. Can someone explain the "burn meter" to me...sorry if I'm stunned and missing something... |

Hi there, just starting with Calorie Counter and I'm already going crazy. I am 5'10" and 180lbs. Haven't EVER been this heavy. I went to the doctor and found out one of the medications he gave me caused weight gain...it was necessary so I had to stay with it until I was "fixed up" and now I'm left with the weight. I also just found out I have type 2 diabetes which adds another obstacle to my menu planning. I would be really happy at 145-150 lbs. Walking my dogs is my exercise and I'm trying to stay within 1200 calories...hopefully I'm not underestimating and setting myself up for failure...I've always been on the "thin" side so I haven't ever put too much thought into what I eat...and WOW is counting calories ever an eye opener...I'm surprised I wasn't 500lbs based on what I've consumed in the past. Thanks for reading and congrats to all of you that are sticking with things and seeing results, that really is a bigger deal than we give credit for!!! |
