Turkey Trot...that's cool...wish I could jog...I don't think my leg will let me.

Really guys my weight HAS been all over.  I hit 270 (woo)  kept it for a couple days...went up to 272 right before my period. (I was cool with that)...then towards the END of my period I got as high as 275.5...In just a matter of days!  Logically I know it is mostly water, but emotionally?  It's just so darn poopy!

I logged everything today and my burn meter is about 3300 and my calorie intake is 2307 ish...poor memory.  Im thanking goddess my energy was up today and I actually felt good cause I just felt like a slug for about 6 days.  So I feel full......content...and ready for night night.  How could I not feel full?  I ate 2300 calories!!!!!

I can't do that tommorrow.

CW 274 ....up a gazillion pounds from last Friday.

I've lost that loving feeling.  Frown

I've totally spaced on the challenges...I thought our challenge this week was the calories one...which I am just going back to logging again.  I could have aced the fiber challenge, but nooooo Sally has to be a slacker.

A water challenge sounds good to me.  I KNOW I've been drinking too much coffee since it got colder out and coffee just isn't the same as good old h2o when it comes to pushing fluids.

I am so not good at following through and finishing what I've started....AT LEAST I RECOGNIZE THIS FLAW AND CAN WORK TO CHANGE IT!  lol  how's that vk (a positive twist) ...btw I'm really impressed with your consistancy.

Hello to all btw...Hope the test goes well Queen...come do my kitchen floor Mav...(actually teach me how to do my own)...Coach that's a great idea about the recipies...I'd like some easy ( husband filling) vegetarian ones sans soy or lentils....little allergy to them.  Hubby had to cook Wednesday...Spaghetti on the menu with NO meat and he ran to the store to get hamburger for it...It drives me crazy!

Foods buying meat from local farmers to avoid animal cruelty? opinions?? Nov 09 2007

In my wildest of dreams I see the food industry as a whole returning to a more natural, simpler state.  It's healthier for us and for our environment.  With my family I aim to have at least one meat free supper a week.  That would seem fairly simple right?  Husband struggles with it though...I don't know why he thinks it is the end of the world to go without meat once in a while.

I also believe that it is totally natural among humans to have both carnivores and herbivores etc. as the animal kingdom has both as well.  Since we are animals of another kind it only makes sense that our species has both types of "vores". ( not to exlude fish eaters or poultry preferrers) I respect vegetarians and their choice to not eat meat...

The preferred method for killing in the animal kingdom is going for the jugular.  We don't know for sure if death by bullet is quicker than having one's throat slit....no one lives to tell about it.

It's incredibly dangerous for a trainer to have power over a person's health like that.  He needs to be told straight up that he is not an expert and that his little toy is wrong and that he is being irresponsible in aiding and abetting the world of eating disorders....cause if that is what he is telling healthy women  (and men) then he is just as bad as the entertainment industry that smear pictures of healthy women for being fat.  Look at how much he made your head spin with self doubt?  He is feeding you a bunch of bull!  Probably cause he gets paid to bring in people to the gym.

You are not even close to being 26.5% BF!!!!!

With my scale you enter in your age, hieght, sex, and normal or athlete (I put in normal).  When I started at 306 pounds it said my BMI was 50...but as I've lost weight and started exersicing it now says I'm 39.

We paid 30 some for the scale coach and it's pretty nice...Wal Mart.  The bottom of your feet have to be damp to get more accurate water % readings.

CW 273...up 3 pounds, but my period started too so I'll live.  Ate chocolate too on Halloween...not a ton, but man it tasted soooo gooood.  But walked twice that day for a total of 120 ish minutes so not bad...little girl was pooped after. She had her fall party at preK and then trick or treating.  Crashed big time!  Candy is now on top of fridge and she doesnt really bug me about it...we didn't take her very far either.  I saw kids with grocery bags full!  Most of her's will end up in the trash anyway.  *shrug*

Foods Soy is not the ultimate super health food- we've been duped Oct 26 2007

I have hypothyroidism and am allergic to soy protein....especially soy protein isolate that is in so many foods anymore it makes your head spin.  Soy milk makes my tongue tingle...soy protein produces a pain in my stomach and massive amounts of stomach mucus I imagine is produced to protect my body???  Not to mention the itching in my throat area...where my thyroid is. (a distressing and painful situation that has me reading everything before I put it in my mouth)...The allergy developed suddenly and it took me several years to eliminate everything and narrow it down to the protein...because I can use soy sauce and eat foods with soybean oil in it and have no problems...so far anyway.

But I would like you to think about this...

Is there, perhaps, a corellation in the increased use and consumption of soy in the US....(It's hard to find an ingredient label without it anymore) and the rise of obesity?  When did soy become so prominent in our food and when did obesity begin its rise?

Yes I know there are glaringly obvious reasons for obesity here, but what about the not so obvious reasons?

If soy works for you then ok...but for me, I take caution and eat healthier foods due to my allergy.  The day they stick soy protein in apples is the day I'm royally screwed!

BTW certain brands of "pop tarts"  or toaster pastries have soy protein isolate in them....what the heck for?  And progresso soup...and campbells....and tuna...and cereal....and lean cuisine...healthy choice...chicken, hamburger....etc....

Ugh I forgot to report on Friday...has anyone else felt really hectic/ busy lately?  To top it all off I've decided to learn to knit...*pulls hair out*  I WILL learn it if it takes me a year!  Yarn is so pretty.

So my

SW was 283.5

and my CW is 272.5

down 11 pounds total and I can't find last weeks weigh in in my journal thingy, but I don't think I've lost any from two weeks ago cause I had my TOTM last week and I was probably up 2 then.

As for exercise you can pretty much count on me walking or belly-dancing every day...especially since I got a new BD DVD!  When I walk now I try to make sure I take routes with inclines...quite a few in town...my average is 60 minutes of exercise 5 days a week..lots of running around and cleaning on weekends!

Oh and Ive fallen off the water wagon....does anyone know why it's so hard to remember to drink it?  I don't dislike it, but I just get busy and forget it!  *scratches head*  Going to get up right now and drink a cup darn it!

I havent gone back to read what everyone wrote before this page, but I too am finding it hard to be at CC everyday.  I'm eating healthy and exercising.  That's all I can ask of myself.  I'm not going to guilt trip myself if I don't log everything cause I know I won't do it for the absolute rest of my life...but when I hit a plateau or gain instead of lose, then I know I need to start logging again and double check what I'm doing.  An awareness tool if you will.

So today I walked over a mile and did a new Belly dance DVD...I had sweat rolling off of me...wooo.  I know it's working cause sex is getting better.  Core strength is essential for great sex!

Every day I'm discovering new things about me.  it's the best kind of mid~life crisis!

Lum...glad that the doc found it and that it's not cancerous that they can tell..good luck with the surgery and ching ching to great health!

Queenie so sorry you've been sick too...my mom has gerd and it's horrible for her.  the doctor has finally resorted to giving her a pill to empty her stomach before bed cause otherwise it comes up and goes in her lungs..horrible!  One theory is that your stomach does not produce enough acid to digest its contents...recommendation?  Vinegar...but do you really want to drink that?

VK you are right...dolledup is doing a great job!  AND so are you lady!

Lately I feel like Im on speed or something...not that I know what that feels like, but I just cant seem to sit still.  even in the shower I'm practicing dance moves...butt crunches while watching tv...counter push ups when Im cooking...belly shimmies here...belly shimmies there...here a shimmy there a shimmy every...ok you get what I mean.  Yesterday I rushed to get little girl to preschool...then walked 30 minutes..cleaned..took little girl to discovery park where we took a nature walk in the woods with her environmental class...then I had my belly dance class for a solid 60 minutes and remained for another two hours watching the other classes and dancing occasionally.

My metabolism is changing?

Yep...the coffee comment the doctor made was in reference to the high blood pressure.  Caffeine raises blood pressure.

Your friend should get a home bp monitor...(wal-mart)  I have one after a high reading at the doc's, but when I do my pressure at home it's below normal ranges...like 116/ 67.  Once she has one all she has to do is take it to the doctor the first time to see if the monitor gives an approximately similar reading that the doctors office gives to make sure that it is accurate.

That way she can rule out white coat hypertension.

Please consider it!!!!

It's a health benefit!

Less time on my gluteus maximus if I can send ONE bulletin to ALL on  my friend list instead of having to drop by each of their journals....which is nice sometimes, but not when you are trying to be a good support to the team and don't have lots of time to be on here.

Geesh...It's hard to make it here sometimes. I'm a real slacker when it comes to the boards!

Coach it seems to be a pattern for me...big drop in weight( like 4 pounds)...go back up a little...drop 1 or 2 pounds again...plateau. Repeat. I follow that green trend line a lot! Better indicator for me I think, but I really am starting to feel thinner and I hope all of you feel it too!

Weight Loss Does anyone have trouble actually eating enough calories Sep 29 2007
19:22 (UTC)

I think I have this problem too.  Every site I find tells me I should be eating a ton of calories a day. Over 2000.

  1. Because at 5'4 I weigh 278.  and 2.  Because I'm fairly active.

First of all it freaks me out to eat that many calories and second...that's a heck of a lot of food if you are choosing fruits, vegies, whole grains, lean meats, low fat dairy, and good fats.

I'm really starting to think I should stop logging my calories, make healthy food choices, and just log my activity and stay active.

I'd like to hear from any person who is or was obese and lost weight by eating more cause I'm really having a hard time convincing myself to do this!

Ok ya'all got me confused.

I weigh 278 and am moderately active.  I'd like to lose 2 pounds a week.  But I'm looking at the formula and it's crazy...How many cals should I be eating?  BTW I'm pretty solid so I'm guessing I have a good muscle base.

???

278 x 10 = 2780 calories

278 x 6 (to lose)= 1668 calories

Weight Loss Why am I gaining weight? Sep 28 2007

So then if I set my activity level at moderately (which is what I am),

I'm running 4-5 miles a day for my exercise, as well as some light conditioning (exercise ball, resistance bands) in my living room 3-4x a week.

This much exercise is not moderate.  You are very active and not eating enough!    And I'm sorry if this is painful to hear, but I've read other posts from you about this and in my personal opinion you are becoming way too obsessed with your weight. Before you were worried that your thighs were getting fatter and now your face.  Perhaps you need to seek advice from a nutritionist that you actually have an office visit with and not just advice over the internet.  I say that out of concern because I'm really afraid for you and wonder if you are not developing an ED or have body dismorphia.

Give it some thought and take care.
