| I'd just pick a story and stick to it. For example, say you had a big lunch and couldn't possibly eat another bite. I've found that the more decisive I am when I say something like that, the less likely I am to get any grief about it. Although it sounds like you handled yourself well and don't really need instruction! :) | |||

| I hear you, michelle4kids! Isn't it amazing how our definitions of what's heavy for us change as we get older. lol
As far as my appetite goes, I try to eat a lot of foods with low caloric density. I'm lucky because I love cucumbers. I eat them with a little balsamic vinegar on the side (for dipping) and no oil. Very low-cal but a good way to fill up before a meal. |

| Hi Slendersenior! I'm not quite there yet (I'll be 38 in October), but my metabolism has slowed down. LOL
In any event, you might want to check out the Seniors Corner in The Lounge forum. Best of luck to you! Sammie |

| I just want to point out that what you started doesn't sound like a "simple workout" to me; it sounds like a LOT of stuff. I don't know about you, but I do better when I start small because I've found that I'm more likely to stick with an exercise plan when I don't find it overwhelming. Then if I end up doing more, it's a bonus and I feel good about it, rather than feeling bad if I'm not able to do everything every day. But that's just my two cents. If you're able to keep it up, that's awesome ~ good luck! | |||

| I find the best exercises for those areas are squats, lunges and plie squats. Good luck! | |||

| bstefano, I couldn't agree more!! A girlfriend recently sent me a photo of us a few years ago (2002), and I was amazed. I certainly never thought I was that thin! Makes me want to kick myself in the *ss now! lol
But I'll tell you what. When/if I get back down to that weight... I am going to enjoy EVERY minute of it! :) |

| Thanks for the replies! I was seeing so many posts by teenagers who can eat a couple of thousand calories and still be at a deficit. (sigh) I miss those days. lol
In any event, I just wanted to hear from some people in my own age range, because it definitely is a tougher battle now. I know healthy weight loss can be done, but sometimes you just want a little empathy from someone who genuinely "feels your pain." :) |

| I do yoga and light cardio every day and on alternating days I do pilates and weight training. But it's all fairly light exercise. And I'm trying to keep my calories in the 1300-1500 range (my RMR is around 1600). | |||

| One of my girlfriends sells lasers (like for laser hair removal, etc.) to doctors and spas, etc. She told me that a lot of the places she's selling to are promoting something called lipo-dissolve for treatment of cellulite (among other things). I don't really know anything about it; I just heard her telling another of our friends about it, so I thought I would mention it. | |||

| I would love to hear other peoples' opinion on this as well. I currently have a digital scale with a body fat percentage element, but I'm not convinced the body fat portion is all that accurate. Or maybe I don't want it to be ~ lol ~ since it regularly tells me I'm over 30%! | |||

| Thank you, sabineyvr! I knew I was missing something there. I wasn't getting the whole "BMR over 1200" aspect of the equation. Thanks for clearing that up for me!
And thanks united2gether for the info. That reinforced what I knew; I just wasn't taking my BMR into account. |

| I'm clearly missing something. I just don't get the negative calories thing. Isn't any deficit essentially "negative calories?" As long as you're taking in at least 1200 calories per day and not burning more than 1000 on top of that (i.e., 2200 total calories burned for the day), aren't you okay? I just feel like I'm missing the point of negative calories. Would you please explain? Thank you so much! | |||
