Hello! Nice to meet everyone!

My name is Lauren, 19 years old. I'm in a music ed program, hoping to teach elementary some day. After my first semester freshman year, I realized that if I wanted to be energetic (and not huffing and puffing) in the classroom, I had to lose the weight! I started January 5, 2009 at 208 lbs. My last weigh in was 154, but I haven't weighed in about a month and I know that I am much less now. I will be going home this weekend so we'll see!!

I also have a blog if you are interested: www.discoveringlauren.blogspot.com

I go through this a lot. I actually just wrote about it in my blog (discoveringlauren.blogspot.com) I didn't really see the difference in my body until I put two pictures side by side. Its crazy how quickly you forget how far you've come, when you think you would never forget being very heavy and unhealthy.

Yes I know it has been awhile since I have updated...but nevertheless, here I am! Current weight is unknown. I won't know it until Saturday morning when I am back at home...currently at college right now.

Everything seems to be getting out of summer madness and back into regular routine. I went running this morning, always a good thing, and have been sticking to well balanced, healthy menu options!!

Now....I assume...I have lost 55lbs. since the very beginning of my path. It has been tedious at times, but very rewarding. Onward and downward!!

Also, if anyone is interested, my journey has been documented on my blog: discoveringlauren.blogspot.com

Go if your interested!

*shouting from the rafters*

I have less than 10 lbs to go! I have less than 10lbs to go!!

I've lost 55lbs, my goal was to lose 63lbs. I may keep going until I've lost 75lbs, but we'll see. And I'm going back to school soon and it was so much easier losing while being at school, busy and motivated! Yay for success!! AND it can be done slowly and healthily!! I am closing out month 8 on my lifestyle change. Marvelous!

So I'm up 2 lbs from 2 weeks ago. Still haven't totally improved my eating and I've been eating things loaded with salt--but yesterday was great! I think I'm going to challenege myself. 6 out of 7 days must be clean, 1400 calorie days. If I don't get 6/7 for each week, then I can't have everything I want while on vacation (the great pizza joint, ice cream, donut shop...). Here's to onward and downward....and breaking 154 for the first time ever!

Still at the same as last week BUT I've had a really bad week!

It was my mom's birthday so there was cake making and eating (this thing was a chocolate dream--it even had ghiradelli brownie on the inside) and a barbeque with baked beans and potato salad and other yummy food.

Then on Sunday night I had a DQ Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard.

I was totally expecting to see a 3lb increase. NOPE! Apparently, I was able to maintain on all that food!

Now if I could actually lose on the amount that I normally eat!

This sounds like a strange success, but it feels like one to me. I haven't been excercising as much as I was (not so good, but anyway) and even with that, the scale has still be slowly going downward, so at least I'm keeping eating in check! Also, because I'm coming so close to the end, I'm not losing as fast as I was, but I'm still keeping my spirits up!

In the middle of the week I was at a solid 154.8. Then I stopped drinking water, ate more salty stuff, some more chocolate than usual, and stopped riding the bike faithfully. Voila- gained again. At least I'm still 1/2 a pound down from one week ago!

After a month to month and a half of nothing moving on the scale, I finally broke the dreaded plateau. I went from 157.8-156.6. Yay!

Ok. This was my last week. After 3 and a half weeks of either moving up slightly and then back down soon thereafter, but no real progress any lower, I finally hit 157.8 about Wednesday of last week. I was so excited!!! This made my total weight loss at FIFTY POUNDS. I can't believe I've lost 50 lbs since January...and very healthily too!!

Fast forward to Thursday/Friday. Bloating begins. Just wonderful. So today the scale read 159.2 which is lower than it was one week ago, but higher than the number I got in the middle of next week and before TOTM.

This is a crazy rollercoaster!!

Ok so now I'm starting to think that yesterday really was a fluke of the numbers. Yesterday I was 163.6 and today 162 even. Now, its not possible for me to have lost 1.6 pounds in a day so I think that it really was a fluke day.....

Hmmmm, up .4 since last week.  I could give a lot of reasons (too much sodium recently, time of the month) but ultimately it is my own fault. I didn't count too strictly this week and only went running once. Its not that I got off of my plan by too much, but I wasn't as careful as I'm used to being. Onward and downward!

I had a great moment today and I just had to share!!

So I went shopping at this new store in town. I came upon a really cute pencil jean skirt. Looked at the size. 10. Hmm.......will it fit? Right now, my "juniors" size jeans are a 13....but they are a little bit big now. I thought, to heck with it, I can't sit in a store and not try things on because I'm scared of numbers.

It was perfect!!! I couldn't believe I fit into a size 10 skirt. WOW! It wasn't long ago that  I couldn't buy size 18 skirts because they weren't big enough, and if I did find one that "fit", it still didn't look good. AND this is a pencil skirt, so no flowy fabric to hide in!

According to the number, I've only lost .3lbs this week. But I went from using the scale in my dorm to the digital one at home. The difference is 3lbs. So if I had been using my "normal" scale I would have been down to 160....I wonder which is more accurate???

Hey everyone,

I was going to try and be more active on this board, getting to know people and such, but then finals and juries came along at school. The most I could do was update my weekly losses!

So anyway, I am now home for the summer from school. Excited to be home...and a bit worried about my continuing the weight loss. It will be a bit harder because I am not the one controlling everything I eat. For example, tonight's dinner is spaggetti. Normally, I'd have thinly sliced chicken breast on whole wheat bread with fresh tomatoes. So I just have to control portions and eat a lot of salad! Also, continuing to run is going to help me a lot. Today I started Week 8 of 9 of the C25k program. I am almost there! I ran almost 3 miles today, with lots of little hills to test me, in 28 minutes. Yay!

I've now lost 44.5 lbs and have no intent to stop soon. My goal is to get to 145 and then re-evaluate. I have no idea what I'll look like...I've never been this weight at this height!

I hope everyone is still going strong!!! You can do it!!!!!

In the past week, I've had 3 people say "Wow, you are so thin!"

I've now lost 44.5 lbs and am still 18.5 away from my goal of 145 but it was incredible to hear. I've NEVER been called "thin". What was that word?????

Total loss for me from the very beginning is now 44.5! And only 18.5 more until my goal! This is so exciting...we go on vacation in August and I should definitely be there by then, even if I only lose about 5 a month I will be there!

Thanks tciherr

Right now I think I'll stop at 145. It is just inside my "healthy bmi". Like you, I'm going to see what happens when I get there. I may want to take off 5 more or so, but I don't think more than that. Then again, I have no idea what it will be like. I haven't been that weight since I was 12...but I was 4 inches shorter then too.

As of this morning, I've lost 44.5lbs. I look at the number and then I look in the mirror, and I'm thinking, I hope I get small enough when I get to my goal. BUT then I put two pictures side by side. One from "before" and one now. THEN I see the difference.
