Weight Loss Brand New...need friends and accountability. Any short ladies out there around 200 lbs? Aug 19 2008

I just thought I'd pop in to say good luck, part of the reason I lost weight was my carrer choice (a primary school teacher, i felt the need to set a good example) and it was always a good motivator.

I am 5'2 and down from 198lbs to 135lbs.

I also thought i'd tell you that i frequently indulged in chocolate, pizza, chips and all manner of goodies.

Just remember to include the things you enjoy whilst staying in your calorie limit.

Good Luck.

PM me if you ever want to chat.
Weight Loss Playing the "who's bigger" game Aug 19 2008

I wouldn't say i do this everyday, or even that often at all. I don't actually remember having done this any time recently. I remember being about 15 and comparing my size to my friends (and letting out a sign of relief if i wasn't the biggest for once :) ) but I can't remembering any other times.

Then again, i'm pretty anti-social and whenever I am around other people I'm usually in my own world anyway. :D
Weight Loss "good" calories vs. "bad" calories Jul 09 2008

Many would say that yes it matters. but having lost 64lbs by eating my fair share (or more than) or "bad calories" I say so long as you still eat fruit and veg, the cheesecake really doesn't matter so much, i guess i'm saying that while you still need nutrients, if you keep in mind your calorie limit then eat whatever you want :)
Weight Loss Still "slightly over-weight", you've got to be kidding!!!!! Jun 14 2008

I was using this site's tools.

As to the person who asked how... for the first 6 months I ate 1250 calories and then when I got to 145lbs I upped it to 1500 and have been losing the last 10lbs and a slow but comfortable pace. As for exercise, I walk pretty much everywhere :) but have not done anything drastic other than a few days a week i'll walk extra and do a few exercises (crunches, situps etc.).

Thank you for all the kind words and I'll be sure to post pics at the end of this month :)

I really think it DOES help with weight loss. Not hugely, but f it gets me off my ass to do stretching, jogging, yoga and step-ups for half an hour a day then it's pretty amaing as not much does that :D

Ummm.... your weight wil be "normal" by doing what you did before the last weigh-in... so unless you deprived yourself of fluids last time then it will still show the difference.

Unless you are very attatched to that rom dress I would suggest selling it and loosing the weight. You've got 11 weeks and could loose quite a bit for the, which I assume you also want to loose for the summer.

I don't wear makeup often so I don't have makeup removers.

Showering: Soap, rinse, towel dry,(i have to for the miosturiser)conditioner. A moisturising soap while I'm waiting for the conditioner, rinse and done :D

Extra:

Hair: leave in conditioner, dtangle heat defense and just drying it.

Skin: Body: Nivia Q10 Plus. Face: Witch foam wash every moring and a localised stick for any spots that do get through.

This is all since I started loosing weight. I think it's because I feel that i SHOULD take care of myself.
The Lounge The world should accomadate my shortness! Apr 11 2008

This post made me laugh :) At wrk everyone always jokes about my height. I'm 5'2" and have to climb the shelves to put bread on the top shelf and I jump to check whats on the top tray of a rack... which usually gets me plenty of weird looks... but hey you've got to adjust to a world that was made for people about 5'8 tall.

Which is ironic because the average UK woman is 5'4.4" and the average guy is 5'9.6". In the USA woman average at 5'3.8" and men 5'9.3". So woman are typically 5"4' and men 5'9".... so I don't get why everything is made so TALL... I'm only 2" shorter than the national average yet most things are at least 5" out of my reach.

I'm sure the world is conspiring against me >:S

Weight Loss Where did your weight come from??? Apr 10 2008

Guilt mostly.

Growing up we didn't have alot of money so you HAD to eat what was on your plate. Once I didn't an was forced to stay at the table until it was all gone. It was cold and stale by then.

So now, despite being far better off i HAVE to finish whats on my plate, only difference is i do my OWN food so I can determine what I'm eating.

The other thing was that for ages after we moved (and were therefore better off) my parents indulged, take-aways chocolate, etc. etc. so I associate quite bad foods with a positive experience :s
The Lounge Best April Fools joke you ever pulled or one you fell for Apr 04 2008

i dont really like april fools day, it's a day where you "prank" people and can quite often hurt someones feelings by doing so or embarass them and for what, so you can get a quick laugh at someone elses expense?

It's not that big a thing where I am and I'm quite happy with that because it'd probably get on my nerves.

If i was anyone else I could probably list a dozen other "problem areas" but i'm fairly content with everything else, I just feel really out of proportion and would love to just slim down and tone up slightly in that one area.

Thank you so much for the info and the link.

Though funny enough I already do that exercise as a general part of my exercising, but now that i know that it is the right thing i'll make sure to do more :)

I'll try... I've been so paranoid since i tried before and it made me gain.

The tools say 1333 and that other thing that everyone always posts about a 19 year old 5'2 female says 1200 MINIMUM but I've never been able to acurately calculate how much i burn.

I'll definately try though, thanks for the advice!

Can anyone help me figure out what I'll need to maintain when i get to 125 lbs (approx) and i will get there eventually :) as I thought I'd need to eat 1500 calories then but i'm probably wrong if i need to eat 1500lbs to loose now.

breakfast isn't about time it's about your metabolism and trying to keep it working as best it can... which is why most suggest eating after you wake up (up til about an hour later).

So if I don't want up til 1pm I still eat at 1pm-2pm.

I also agree with the above, it would have been easier on understand what you were asking if you had worded it in a clearer way. Or putting it in sperate paragraphs.

Thank you both! I will get there eventually... I'm sure we all will, it's just frustrating in the mean time.

I have been trying to vary my calories a bit, allow myself a treat, like tomorrow I'm eating 1500 calories, which WOULD be my maintenance calories at my goal weight and is half way between my diet and maintenance at this weight, so I figure it's a good calorie intake if I am going to go up and down a bit...

I just really want to get this all out of the way before I start university and I SHOULD but it's just seems like an endless thankless task at the moment.

Oh well, I have a BMI of 27 so at least I'm getting towards "healthy"

Thanks again for your stories and motivation!

I'm saying that there SHOULD be an ED forum.

And it SHOULDN'T be in the h&s forum because that's filled with ED posts and all other posts get pushed off the front page.

There SHOULD be an ED / Gaining weight / recovery forum because there needs to be a place with stricter rules, moderators just for there and better support.

weird... i just dont see it as THAT bad. I mean, i wouldn't do it myself. But my mum did it to both my brothers (actually she couldn't find soap once and did it with fairy liquid) and they still swear loads.

I'm proud to say I wasn't ever stupid enough to swear at my mum.

It is annoying, frustrating etc etc. but this wasn't ever a forum designed to cope with ED's and so there are no specific rules, no forums just for those with an ED.

Truth be told there should be a forum for those with an ED or trying to gain weight as this website was originally designed more towards those trying to loose weight. As it is the rules are still geared mainly towards loosing weight and so there are no "strict" guidelines that typically work well in a recovery environment aren't enforced as there aren't any.

If it ever does get to much there are other ED forums on the net which you could use as well as this one and would probably be more able to support you.

Good luck with your recovery.
