| Oh, gosh! I joined but I don't seem to be losing anything- true, I haven't been keeping up with my logs but I seriously need some changing of my routine to do- I'll probably have to really watch my calorie intake for about 2 weeks and then bump it up again to jumpstart my metabolism...
So, far, I still don't quite feel ready enough to brave going to the beach with confidence in a bathing suit! |

| I think you're right, justamom- we really should thank cactus_bob to at least get everyone talking, regardless on their beliefs or perspectives on the topic. I also hope that you're feeling better too! Whenever people say that they will pray for them, it's amazing the ranges of reactions! But either way, I never get offended when someone shows that they care for you- especially, when they go out of their way to show that they care is a very rare thing these days!
Take care! |

| I consider myself a Christian and yes, I do sincerely believe that God gave me a third chance at losing weight. Yes, a THIRD! Before, I was really skinny until I met my ex at the time, the pounds crept up slowing, then I started losing weight when I broke up him. Then, take out food and not exercising took over my life again and I gained more than ever at 5'5" and 178 lbs. Finally, I vowed that I didn't want to become a diabetic with chances of heart disease like 80% of my family (who swears that it has nothing to do with their obesity). But I truly believe that God is speaking to me and helping me no longer take advantage of my health and giving me a third chance at losing weight, becoming as healthy as ever (or at least pretty darn close to), and I am so glad that you brought up this topic- it just came to mind and believe that I should thank Him! And I hope nobody believes that I'm trying to shove Him down their throats, I'm just saying that that's what I believe in, that's all! | |||

| I Think I'm seriously going to be buying some leg warmers- I just think she looks so cute in them- I love her outfit! But yeah, bebe66, the butt part KILLED as well- I so felt it afterwords and I even notice a slight difference after only a month of using this video! But I will also look into the "peak energy"- I love looking for new videos (well, new to me anyways) because a good workout is worth it, and after all, my body isn't going to know whether or not the tape is over 20 years old, right? | |||

| Oh, gosh! Tell me about, I had to really pay attention to make sure I don't put too much bounce on my knees and ankles! But I love this woman- my mom even said that she remembers a lot of her girlfriends that used to do it all the time and she said that ALL of them were skinny (but of course, that was before super-sizing our portions and all the delicious take out foods we've come to know and love- and fight!). But you did after after your third child- you must be wonder woman!!! I just wish that there would be a "new" Jane Fonda that would have a little more updated version where there's less chances of injuring yourself- other than that, I love this woman! But, the arm portion- I'm actually pretty muscular but the arms exercises KILLED- my deltoids were shocked by such different movements that it's a wonder Jane can even keep up with herself- how can she even smile like that while she's doing it? GO FOR THE BURN ! :-) |

| Your son spots and compliments you! It takes a wonderful mother to raise such a great, supportive son! I'm sure that now he looks up to you now and your husband is so proud of you. Congratulations on your goal, that is really such a big deal. Life is so full of ups and downs, but it's our minds that can push us to where we want to go! Congrats again (this almost brought tears to my eyes, too!) | |||

| HAHA! That's why I love reading these posts! This is what I keep hearing: "stop losing weight, you're disappearing!" or "When are you going to start eating normal like everyone else?" Then, you have to realize that this is one of the few countries in the world where people have to deal with huge meals that are loaded with trans fats, salts, unnecessary additives, etc. Just keep remembering, it's not worth worrying about everyone else's judgements on how they view YOUR weight loss- you're doing it because you want to feel healthier and have more energy in your life. Trust me, you're gonna thank yourself in the future when you visit the doctor and hear them tell you that you're healthy rather than you needing to lose weight for fear of weight-related health risks! I'm sure that will far outweigh what everyone else says. (And I agree with the previous posts- they're just jealous and feel more insecure about themselves, so just thank yourself for your hard work and keep at it!) | |||

| Hi There! I decided that I would love to join you! I recently graduated from school and will be returning again for a post-bacc and I know just how difficult it can be- try losing weight during finals week-ugh!!! I love big meals as well and chocolate and I hope that maybe I can give you a few pointers to help you control that since it helped me (even though, of course, I am human and I do have some cheat moments)! For big meals, probably the reason why you are eating bigger meals is because you either don't have time for breakfast and don't bring food with you. What I would do is go shopping in the weekend- don't shop hungry!!! whatever you do- and load up on apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, string cheese, nuts, cheerios (I would eat these by themselves), bread, etc. or just healthier alternatives or whatever is on sale (esp. since your a student if you're like me anything cheap is just as good). Then, I would get up about 10 minutes earlier and load a few of these into plastic baggies to make sure that I'm not leaving to classes without them. Then, I would set my alarm on my cell phone every 3 to 4 hours while I was at school to remind myself to eat even if I WASN't hungry. Sure enough, I would definitely stay away from the pizzas, starbucks frappucinos, and Togo sandwiches simply because I wasn't hungry! This would save me TONS of calories and it also kept refreshing my brain during midterms since I wasn't focused on food and focus instead of school loads. As for chocolate, I would have a few pieces of semi-sweet chocolate every day just to satisfy my crazings. If you do this, I can almost guarantee that can make your workouts do much more for you - in fact, you actually get to eat more the more you exercise as well as LOSE more weight since you're constantly feeding yourself with healthier food- look up other posts that discusses your METABOLISM and you'll see why it's more difficult to lose weight with larger, less frequent meals and how eating smaller, more frequent meals cuts the weightloss time to reach your goals... Good luck and I'm also right there with you- I've lost over 50 pounds this way and have about another 12-15 pounds to go for Long- term!! Hope this helps! |

| I haven't worked out in almost 7 years- totally got out of shape and at 5'5", I peaked at 185 llbs in January 2007!!! I knew that my weight was just going to climb and I refused to start buying plus size clothing at only 25 years old- even looking at my old pictures, I kept looking at myself and telling myself that I really didn't look like that.
Then, I decided to slooowly start working out- I didn't really know what to do, so I started to do some simple pushups, situps, walking around more. Afterwards, my mom suggested that I try out some of the Tae Bo videos since she remembered watching them in the late 90's. I went on eBay and started buying his Bootcamp and Tae Bo live videos (I think there's twelve of them in both Advanced and Basic) and I couldn't last 10 minutes of it, I was so out of shape. After a while, I did my best to last as long as possible and within 3 months, I lost 20 pounds and went down from a size 13 to a size 11 (although still pretty tight). Once I reached that mark, I decided I can lose about 10 more pounds. After over one year, I became more energized just doing his videos (I also mix it up with some weighttraining and a few other dance videos) and I absolutely love his motivation and words every time he thinks you're going to give up, he keeps telling you that you can push yourself to reach your goal. So far, I lost over 55 pounds and am a size 5 to 7 and have tons of muscle. I would encourage you to keep at it, like Billy Blanks says, If you got the will, he's got the way! |

| Hi Cencalgrl,
I'm glad you took my advice. Also, and You did an hour on the treadmill! I would have died, but it seems you're doing a great job! Keep up the good work and please keep us posted on your progress! I hope you reach your goals the way YOU want to reach them, not by someone else's standards- remember, everyone's different and not everyone can lose weight as fast as you did (like me, lol!) and it's up to you to decide how far you want to take things! Good luck! |

| Yikes. Here we go with this one (but I always tell myself I don't regret my decision to lose weight- ever.)
1) Thinking I was just "bootylicious" but looking at my pictures and the word just doesn't seem to fit. I started developing double chins, Amazonian woman features, getting thunder thighs and no matter how I fixed my makeup or changed my wardrobe to "flatter" my large and very voluptous boobs, I still looked HUGE! 2) Discovering that things like backfat and fat on my ankles (my ANKLES for crap's sake!) really can exist (in fact, my back used to be one of my best features as a teenager and loved showing it off with cute halter tops!) 3) My BF worried that I could eat more than him at every meal (he's 6'3" and I'm 5'5"). 4) Both of my parents, at 56 and 59, have diabetes and my younger brother has high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Also just about everyone is at least overweight if not obese in my family and thinks that it's a genetic disease (even though it wasn't like that 20 years ago!). I don't want that in my 50's and want to reduce my chances and be able to say that I beat the odds! 5) Realizing my jeans was at a size 13 and one size bigger, at 25 years old, I might have to start wearing 14 (plus sizes!). Also, all my small and medium tops I actually started throwing them away because I was so frustrated I couldn't wear them anymore! 6) Thinking I stopped developing my breasts at age 16- nope! I went from a size C to a DD in about 2 years! 7) But mostly my health- there's nothing more rewarding than realizing that I have my energy that I do now from when I was a teenager and being able to feel pumped after a workout and feeling like I can take on the day!!! |

| WOW! Is that what they said! Just remember, YOU'RE the boss, not them- your money is paying for their income! If it wasn't for clients like you who want to change their lifestyle and are willing to commit to make changes, they would not have their jobs! I recently read an online article where they have trainers that feel that they have to emphasize people's weaknesses (from AOL health I think!) and spots that they to get rid of. Of course, there are some people in the real world where they don't have all the time in the world to focus on their bodies and health ALL DAY LONG like they do.
Also, I have to warn you to not let them push you too far. Of course, you always want to push yourself a little bit than you normally would in order to get the results that you want. But if your body is screaming for you to stop, STOP. Don't let these people bully you into pushing- you're the one doing the work, not them! And BTW, you did an amazing job at losing 40 lbs! It took me over a year and I worked my butt off to reach a little past that goal (yeah, ask them how fast they can lose that weight and get put down like that and see how they would like it, lol)!!! Good luck and I hope that you reach your goal! |

| Weight Loss | 20 pounds by christmas?? | Dec 26 2007 23:39 (UTC) |
|
| Well, it's already the 26th of December. Right now, I'm still not as close to my 20 pound loss goal but I'm definitely seeing a difference in how my clothes fit- even though I went from 137 last time to 132-133, I can fit snugly into a size 5, esp. since I'm packing tons of muscle on my legs and butt. But I'd rather be healthy than skinny... Hope everyone else was able to make it or at least be happier with themselves. Happy holidays everyone!~ | |||
| Fitness | Question For Serious Tae Bo Fans | Dec 19 2007 05:47 (UTC) |

| I've been doing Tae Bo for about 1 year and lost 45 pounds really solely because of Billy and Shellie. I've never used his Amped but what I do is go to Amazon.com and I read the reviews before I splurge on some of his tapes/dvds. I mainly use his Advanced Live tapes almost everyday to keep my cardio up and tone rather than bulk.
However, I would expect it to be similar to the Billy Bands (Bootcamp editions) where you add more resistance whereas the Amplifier is probably used to help you build control over your moves and maximize your results. It really depends I suppose on whether you want to focus on toning rather than cardio. Also, check out some other websites where they feature live clips- even youtube I'm sure would have some clips! I hope that helps, but good luck and hope it works out for you! |

| Ok,
I'm updating! I was at 142 and now I'm at 136-137 pounds- the weight is rolling off slooowwly! also, at the beginning of this thread I was a size 9 but now I'm comfortably at a size 7.But I'm building tons of muscle, especially on my butt and getting that Jessica Biel butt! I think once I get towards a certain weight, I'm probably not going to weigh myself anymore, I might just pay attention to how the clothes fit and building more muscle. Well see, though! Good luck, everyone! |

| Weight Loss | unsupportive family... | Oct 14 2007 03:52 (UTC) |
|
| I have the same problem with my family too! The good thing is that my mom is super supportive and even excited for me. She and I even started to plan out more healthy eating products, such as more fruits, veggies, lean meats, and healthier snacks. She still buys some junk food, but I can tell that she also wants to change her habits but slowly and not give up everything at once- that would drive her (and even I on my cheat days) crazzyyy!
However, I have family that lives across the street from us. I have a cousin at the same age as me (I'm 26) but who's weight keeps gaining and gaining. She claims that she thinks she's at a perfect weight, but she's about 180-190 llbs at 5'4"!I also know that that's not healthy (it can't be since she also has very poor diet of fried foods and large portions usually with second or third helpings) and her and her mother keep claiming that I'm coming down to skin and bones (I'm only at 138 llbs at 5'5" as well). In fact, just about every person in my family is at least overweight and rest are obese. I get really frustrated by everything they keep throwing at me. Whenever they have barbeques which is like at least once a month, I have to keep telling them "no" because it's like wasted calories- I work out almost every day and the only reason why I'm losing weight is because I'm keeping track and controlling what I put in my mouth! I really think that they don't want to be aware that what they are eating really is bad for you and that it is possible to lose weight, not keep blaming it on genes, big bones, it's really healthier to be bigger, calling it bootylicious, etc. the list can go on! I hope that this helps somebody else, they really are trying to bring you down instead of congratulating you on your everyday hard work and sacrifices! |

| Height: 5'5"
Weight: 140 lbs Pant Size: Size 9 juniors, maybe size 7 ( I have yet to go shopping, I really don't want to go back yet to the store until I know for sure that I can fit into them! So disappointing!....) Plus, I also have tons of muscles on my legs now as well, I think it might be helpful to use inches instead since thats what makes a huge differences between sizes rather than weight, since it can be water weight, etc... ;-) |

| COUNT ME IN! I'm actually pretty excited- this is my first blog- I first started just reading the posts on this website and I just love how everyone is so positive, honest, and supportive of each other- you guys are so great! My goal would be to lose 14 pounds by christmas to get to my goal weight of 128 (I am 5'5"). I first started at 178, lost 36 pounds and look forward to more... good luck to everyone here! I will keep you guys posted YAY! UPDATE: I did it! Well, not all of it, but I had such a difficult plateau to overcome. Basically, I was doing everything I could to lose at least 5 more pounds to get closer to my goal of 14 lbs- I was working out more, trying to really watch what I eat, and once I joined this forum, I lost 2 pounds this week! All I really had to do was let my body rest a little and not punish myself for whatever weight I didn't lose. So, I guess you probably just shouldn't push yourself too hard, just make sure to eat lots of healthy food to boost your metabolism and listen to your body! I will keep more updates, thanks for listening guys! |
