When I read this post I thought god helmet was going to be something metaphorical, not like a real object. But that is so cool! A really interesting and enlightening experience i'm sure.

Weight Loss Carbs, Fat and Body Fat Dec 12 2008

Yes it is true that the fat you eat is more readily stored than carbohydrates however carbohydrates (esspecially simple carbs) spike blood sugar stimulate production of insulin and can cause you're body to store more fat, If you're overeating. That being said, one should not avoid one or the other. A calorie is a calorie and as long as you don't eat more than you burn you wont gain weight. An optimal diet should be balanced with calories being 15-20% protein 20-25% fat and 50-60% carbs.

FYI I'm not a dietician or anything but I just took a nutrition class so its all fresh in my brain Laughing

Foods how to cut back on sugar? Dec 05 2008
06:53 (UTC)

Do not cut back on fruit it is good for you and you need 2-3 servings of it daily. Do however cut back on simple sugars, like candy, sugar, and white bread. If your going to eat sugar make it natural sugars, such as from fruit, and milk. Of course the occasional piece of candy wont ruin all your weight loss efforts either. I like to have string cheese as a snack its very satisfying and only 80 calories.

Weight Loss 1400, cool?? Dec 05 2008

I don't know about alcohols effect on metabolism, but I do know that when you drink it your body makes it first priority. So while your liver is metabolising alcohol it cannot metabolize fat. However I don't think one glass of wine is detrimental. Oh and as for carbs your body needs a min of 130g daily to prevent ketosis. You can go under this and you wont die but it isn't healthy to do for long periods of time. Also you don't want to go above a 1000 calorie deficit in a day, anything between 250-1000 is good.

Fitness Resistance training...rule of thumb? Dec 05 2008
01:50 (UTC)
4

a good rule of thumb is if you can easily do 12 reps on the last set its time to up the weight. But as said above that also depends on your goals, physical ability etc. Oh and if you can barely do 8 reps on first set the weight is probably too heavy. Unless you're doing your max weight, but that isn't really neccessary in a beginners program. FYI Im no expert this is just what i've heard. Hope this was helpful : )

a jumprope is always good to have when you dont have time you can just jump for 5 or 10 mins and it gets your heartrate up. Same with jumping jacks, and you can always do floor exercises before bed or in the morning like push ups and situps.

Omg, I didn't see the movie, but I saw the South Park episode that poked fun at it. It was hilarious.

Yeah, that was the best episode in awhile. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I did like the books, although I wouldn't compare it to Jane Austen. Tongue out

The Lounge upgrading a pentium 3 :P Nov 20 2008

HI I work w/ computers and honestly its probably not worth it to upgrade, because your going to spend at least a couple hundred just on the parts, and you can buy right now a brand new computer for 200, w/ a 160gb HD and 1 gb of RAM.

but thats just my 2 cents. : P

Weight Loss Active but No Weight Loss in Thighs. Nov 15 2008

I know how you feel the last place I lose is my thighs, but theres really no way to spot reduce. You have to lose weight in general to achieve small thighs. One thing though that improved the look of my thighs though was wieght training so keep that up. Also it is hard too achieve too much cardio. For bodybuilders over 90mins of cardio a week can be counter productive but not to the average joe. Just don't go over like 60mins a day. Also I wouldn't really consider walking to be cardio though it is great for you, and will help to achieve your goals. Overall weightloss comes down to calories in calories out.

ughhhh abs are sooo not hereditary....don't use that as an excuse!!!

also pushups and squats wtf????? pushups are for your BACK pullups are for your ARMS and SQUATS are for your legs...i really hope this isn't your ab workout...that's like doing kicks to get toned arms......

abs are hereditary, and you also are at a pretty low weight for your height (not saying your unhealthy though).

Actually pushups and squats are great for abs because in order to perform them properly you have to stabalize your core, they are complex exercises and they use many muscles when you do them properly. It is pointless to do isolation exercises as you can't spot reduce, so working your abs with a layer of fat over them wont do any good.

The reason for the difference is because the first united states government approved bmi chart back in the 70s or something stated the a healthy bmi is between 20-25 but certain people happen to be very small boned, such as many asian women and they may be healthy at bmi of 18.5 which is why it was changed. I learned this in my nutrition class. : )

Did anybody read this? 18.5 can be healthy. a registered dietician told me so, would you like me to quote it from my *FDA approved nutrition book?

Thats why I said most not all, its a generalization people...geez

If you want to stay friends w/ him thats fine, but I would suggest taking a break to try and get over your feelings. Because I mean the way you describe it, it sounds a bit like he's using you. So def. stop the hookups and take a breather but it doesn't mean you have to cut off all contact w/ the guy.

I don't know about vista but with Windows you can go in through Safe Mode by hitting F7 over and over again when the Windows screen first comes up during start-up.  Then you can go to Users and delete the password.  Maybe there's a similar thing with Vista.  Of course this only works for the password to get onto the computer.  If it's a network password that's an entirely different story and you will have to contact whoever does your IT support.

its F8 not F7, and I don't think that works because usually you have to be the administrator to delete the password, and you need the password for the adminsitrator account to do that. I do know geeksquad at bestbuy has a software that can erase it but they'll charge 29$. but if its the bios password which will be a black screen w/ white lettering and not the windows screen. requires you to take out the battery on the motherboard as suggested earlier.

The Lounge Is it bad that I'm so dedicated to my relationship? Oct 24 2008
06:36 (UTC)

I know how you feel I used to be that way with my boyfriend. We've been together for three years. While I wasn't as dedicated as you are. I would still plan my schedules around his and would'nt make plans with friends unless I knew he was doing something else. I wouldn't even have dinner until I knew if he wanted to eat with me. We would fight because he didn't do the same for me he would make plans with his friends without telling me and I would be angry or he would have dinner without calling me first to see if I wanted to eat with him. It was bad. It wasn't until he went to Europe for a month with out me that I learned I needed a life for myself that didn't revolve around him. I made my own friends and learned we needed a life apart as much as together. Relationships are about balance, giving and taking, together and apart. You shouldn't put everything into her as you will eventually push her away by doing so. Also by having a life apart you have more experiences to share. Our relationship got tons better once I learned to have my own life.

Fitness Am I exercising TOO MUCH ??? Oct 23 2008

You need to listen to your body if it is physically to difficult to complete your workout then yes you need to rest your body either by not working so hard or taking a full rest day. Remember giving your muscles time to recover is just as important as exercising them in the first place. Only you can decide how much exercise is too much.

Seeds, nuts, candy... I could eat them all day and never get full.

seeds and nuts are def. not empty calories. empty calories are food with little to no nutritional value as in vitamins and minerals.

ex: anything made completely or mostly of refined sugars and starches.

pretzels, chips, candy, soda

nuts and seeds are rich in vitamins as well as good fats such as omega 3s.
