Do you get any of the free on-demand channels?  There's one on my digital tier called SportSkool and I think there's another fitness one.  They have all kinds of stuff on there!  It's very cool.  :)

I would highly recommend investing in a good pair of shoes.  You'd be surprised what a difference they can make.  When I was in college, I was a chemistry major.  We spent lots of time standing on concrete floors during labs.  When I'd wear my el-cheapo flip flops, my back and feet would hurt.  When I'd wear my Doc Martens, or New Balance sneakers, I felt like I could stand for many more hours.
I'd also recommend doing some stretching exercises throughout the day.  That can help keep your muscles limber and reduce some of the stiffness.  :)

That doesn't sound like much of a friend!  You have a right to feel proud of yourself.  If I were you, I'd still celebrate and go to the movies.  I love going to movies by myself.  It can be really liberating!  :)
Hang in there!

Heheheh!  :)  Thanks tamji!  I give her so many hugs she starts getting annoyed.  When we were teenagers I used to run up behind her in public and give her a big smooch on the cheek.  ...come to think of it, no wonder she was self conscious...hahaha!

Feeling the need to sleep all the time can be a symptom of depression.  When I was battling depression it sometimes took every bit of strength in my soul to get out of bed in the morning.  I also found comfort in food.  ...not a good combination.

Exercise is supposed to help elevate your mood, but that didn't always work for me.  You may also not be getting good, restorative sleep.  Stress can cause sleep disturbances, so even though you're logging around 6 hours, your body may not be getting the full REM sleep that it needs.

I have a tendency towards insomnia, but have found that I'm getting better sleep and requiring fewer naps now that I'm doing yoga.  I've been recommending yoga to anyone who will listen because it's done wonders to help my moods and I can sleep without popping Ambien.  :)

My sister lives and breathes by WW.  She's lost over 140 pounds in the past year and a half.  She finds it very easy to follow.  It's become a lifestyle, and she doesn't consider it a diet.

My favorite success story doesn't even involve me personally, though it feels like it does.  :)  I'm a fraternal twin.  I was always the skinny one and my sis was always heavy.  She yoyo'ed for years, but never had the right motivation to lose her weight.  Everyone in our family was concerned about her as her weight went up into the 320's.  We have family history of heart disease and diabetes.  Most folks don't think diabetes is that big of a deal, but we watched our grandmother deal with circulation problems and later, amputations.  It was horrible.

My sis was on her way to being diabetic (she was considered pre-diabetic).  That's what did it for her.  She realized that she was slowly killing herself and that she really didn't want to die (thank goodness because I couldn't live without her!).  She was 5'11" and around 320 pounds.

She'd had small successes with WeightWatchers in the past, so she decided to go to a meeting.  The leader there had lost over 100 pounds, so to my sis, it seemed do-able.  She was very motivated.  She stuck to her WeightWatchers plan religiously, and now, a year and 8 months later, she's down to 180.  She wants to lose about 10 more pounds to get to her ultimate goal.  She's smaller now than she can remember ever being.  She was beautiful before, but now she's even more beautiful and incredibly radiant.

She stays motivated by keeping her "fat picture" in her purse.  When she's tempted by those bad foods, she looks at her fat picture.  It reminds her that nothing tastes as good as looking the way she does now and it gets her through.  She inspires me to eat better and take better care of myself.  She's my best friend, and I think she's absolutely the most amazing person on the planet (but I'm not at all biased).  :D

My only vice is Tab, the diet drink from the 70's.  It's sweetened using saccharin, so for years I got to enjoy drinking Tab while staring at a warning label that saccharin could cause cancer.  They finally removed saccharin from the cancer list.  Either way, something's going to kill me...if it isn't the Tab, my diet or exercise, it'll still be something.  :)  I just know I'll definitely die if I don't have Tab.  Hehehehe!

Even though you feel like your shoes aren't too tight, I'd still loosen them up around the toebox.  I get numb feet when my toebox laces (down towards your toes) are pulled tight.  I have the same issue with my hockey skates.  :)  You may also want to try different socks.
Fitness body fat and lipo Sep 05 2007

I had tumescent lipo on my abs, hips and lateral thighs.  I had no excess skin, and because I worked out all the time, the results were dramatic and quite awesome.
Lipo isn't a weight loss solution (I lost 1 pound of pure fat), but can be helpful for folks who have trouble areas that are resistant to exercise (like my hips were).  The lateral thighs and abs were just a bonus.
I was in and out in less than 45 minutes and went straight from the doc to doing 3 hours of heavy shopping with my mom.  I was awake the whole time chatting with the surgeon.  There was minimal pain, brusing or bleeding.  I had a great experience with the same surgeon who did my breast augment.
Lipo is risky, but can work wonders, and, with the right surgeon can be pretty safe.
Lots of folks hate on people who choose plastic surgery, like to share horror stories they read on the web (you rarely see sites dedicated to the multitudes of successes) and don't understand that there are great, well qualified doctors out there.  I'm lucky I've had the money to do what I want with my body.  I love my Botox, too.  :)

If you look at that picture, you'll also see that the girl has no real shape (at least at that angle).  She has no real waist.  It's interesting what people want their bodies to look like.  I'd rather have some curves to go with my tone...think hourglass.  I want to have Bettie Page's body when I grow up.  ;)  Chicks should have some curves!

Pilates is great at strengthening and toning your core muscles and abs, so it couldn't hurt.
I wouldn't worry about what people say makes celebrities sexy.  A 26" waist is small and so are 33 inch hips!  If you want a 24" waist, wear a corset!  ;)  I've ready wacky things about women who have had ribs removed because they couldn't make their waists any smaller.  When we stop comparing ourselves to the ridiculous (and mostly fake) standards set by the media, we'll have much happier women.
Good luck!  :)

Stop beating yourself up!  That's certainly not the worst 21st birthday indulgence I've ever heard about.  You had around 1600 calories.  That's not the end of the world...in fact, that's not terrible at all.  My 21st involved a big bottle of Jagermeister and ended with me praying to the porcelain goddess.  I was miserable for a few days.
Let it go...move on...forgive yourself!  Stop feeling bad!  When I'm bummed, I have a tendency to eat more, which makes me feel worse.
You're already planning on working out tomorrow.  That's a great step in the right direction.  Hang in there and stop being so tough on yourself.  This is a lifestyle.  You're going to slip up every now and then, and you have to live a little.  You're heading in the right direction.
I think people are often so freaked out by that weight number.  I used to be pretty scale obsessed.  I still pay a little attention to the scale, but I pay more attention to how tight or loose my pants feel!  :D

Hi Beth!  I'm all about finding low or no cost ways of exercising.  Running and walking outside are free.  I'm lucky to live in a town with lots of parks and greenways, so I can mix up my running terrain.  We also have access to tennis and basketball courts.  My husband and I are terrible tennis players, but we do like to go out and hit some balls around.  Because we're so terrible, we end up spending most of our time chasing the ball (I start feeling like my dog...haha!) which can really get your heart rate up.
Riding the horse itself may not burn a lot of calories, but the maintenance you have to do lugging equipment around does!
We also have a channel on our digital cable that has fitness shows with a variety of aerobics and yoga choices.  I've recently found yoga and love it.  I've started taking over my TV for purposes other than bad sitcoms and cartoons.  :)
Good luck!

My twin was always heavy when we were growing up, so I got to hear what people would say about her.  That lead to a nice eating disorder for me, but I digress...

We were at a punk show years ago...it was NOFX...great band.  :)  We were in the pit and it got too intense for her, so I leaned back and asked the dude behind me to move so my sister could get out.  As she walked by, he said:  I'll bet she's going to the snack bar.

I reacted.  I punched him square in the nose.  It was so bloody it was like his head exploded.  He pulled back like he was going to hit me, but a bouncer grabbed him, said:  If you hit her, you die, and threw him out.  After the show, a few of my buds beat on him pretty badly.  I'd like to think that he never made fun of another overweight girl ever again.

I remember my close to six pack abs.  :)  I had them from about age 13 until I was 23.  Then I discovered beer and ice hockey, and they haven't been the same since.
I used to do at least 1000 crunches a day and ran 5 miles every day.  You can't really spot reduce fat, so cardio and weight training combined with a healthy diet are a must.
I'm concentrating on turning my flabs back to abs.  Hehe!

...and anyone who says they haven't screwed up and downed something like a half of a jar of peanut butter is lying.  :)  It's done.  Let it go.  Forgive yourself.
People are often so hard on themselves it becomes totally counterproductive.  The sooner you learn to forgive yourself for those food indiscretions, happier you'll be.  That doesn't mean overdo it, but we all slip up.
Hang in there!

I'd just suggest being a bit more vigilant about what you eat.  Skipping 3 days certainly isn't going to hurt you physically, though it might work to demotivate you.  Make sure you're there when they reopen and you should be fine.

Some folks really enjoy rebounding on mini-trampolines because it burns calories and is fun, so it doesn't feel like exercise.  They also aren't very expensive.
Someone else mentioned walking.  That's a great way to get started.  Just remember than any exercise above what you're doing now is going to be beneficial.
...and don't call yourself a fatty!  Start thinking more positively.  We're all shaped differently and we're all beautiful.  Anyone who disagrees can kiss my butt!  :)

My husband and I did the justice of the peace thing back in May.  Our whole wedding cost $72 (which included parking at the courthouse).  :)  I feel sorry for folks that spend $20K.  Our whole ceremony took 3 minutes and 20 seconds.  I got so tickled, I spent about a minute of that 3 minutes and 20 seconds laughing.  It was great.  :D

I just finished my second class, and it was so much easier than the first.  I can see how this can be addictive.  Because I knew what the poses were, I was able to concentrate more on breathing.  The heat was totally a non-issue for me today.  The worst part was during one of the forehead to knee type poses...sweat ran up my nose.  I flashed back to swimming as a kid.  Hehehehe!  :)

From looking at some of the Moksha Yoga pages, it looks pretty similar to Bikram.
I run every day and play ice hockey 3 times a week, so I asked the instructor what he would recommend for frequency of Bikram classes.  He said that twice a week would make me feel fantastic.
I'd definitely recommend going before dinner.  I think going on a full stomach may make you a little nauseous.
Give it a try.  You may find that you really like it.  :)

If I eat within 30 minutes of running, I tend to develop a stitch in my side (same thing if I chug water).  ...plus, running makes me hungry, so I wait until afterwards.
Fitness Can't breathe during a class Sep 01 2007

I had similar symptoms.  My doc diagnosed me with asthma.  I thought it was the exercise triggering it, but it turns out I'm sensitive to car exhaust and certain pollens.  I definitely feel the effects during some of my outdoor runs.
It wouldn't hurt to see your doctor.  It could also be anticipation that you aren't going to be able to breath launching you into a mini-panic attack.  Sometimes when people start getting to the point where they're really exerting themselves, they stop breathing properly.  You might be sucking air in, but not completely exhaling.  I do a little of that in addition to my asthma, so I make sure I concentrate on breathing and force the air out.
I think it's always best to check with your doc to find out what's going on.
