i think it depends really on your weight loss.  at first i felt more confident and was more into it, if you get what i mean.  but as i developed my ed and dropped lots of weight i knew my husband was not attracted to me by that pt,  but that was not the main pt.  i had no energy for it and was too obsessed with what to eat to concentrate on him or any other activities.  i did not see this then cause my ed had made my mind screwy, but since recovering i find this was the problem.  still on days when my ed is giving me troubles, most days i cannot think or be interested in sex.

wow my nutr wanted me eating 12 servings of starches and 8 of protien,  mind you i mostly eat fruits and vegs and needed to reintroduce food,  and i know about that shameful feeling if its not a safe food it is shameful,  but we must squash this!!! everything is fine in moderation!!  its like a mantra we need to teach ourselves.

but that is not a crazy amount of food.  why are you competing with your mom,  is it possible she has an eating disorder too all the women in my family do....they dont know if its nature or nurture but i am sure it was both with us.  you need to talk to your mom about this.  maybe its best not to eat with her.  i know you should eat around people, but that need for comp is not good for you right now.

Health & Support psyllium ispaghula? Jul 20 2009

ok if anyone is interested i just found this.  wow this seems like some kinda miracle for someone like me....i have high cholesterol as well., still looking for any long term users suggestions

Applications :

  • IN CONSTIPATION :
It increases the passage to the bowel content through formation of bond water. Psyllium contains gel-forming fibers composed of micro-polysaccharides and cellulose.

This plant starch is hydrophilic in nature, hence they add moisture and bulk to stool in colon. The gel like starch softens the feces making hardened stool easier to eliminate without any kind of damage to bowel wall.

The mucilage forms a temporary gelatinous layer that protects intestinal walls from irritation caused by caustic material in the intestine,. Thus allowing the repair of adjoining tissues.

  • IN DIARRHOEA :
The mucilage contents forms bond with water and hence creates a surface of mucous membrane, forming a sticky masses, which are not easily distributed. Hence this avoids watery outlet during diarrhoea and dysentery.

  • IN CHOLESTEROL CONTROL :
The content has cellulose fiber, which is responsible for decreasing the absorption of cholesterol into the blood stream. They also add the filling of fullness without adding calories.

  • IN DIABETES :
The fiber content reduces the release of dietary sugar from the digestive tract into the blood stream, thus assisting in the stabilization of blood sugar level.

  • IN COLON CANCER :
Insoluble fiber content dilutes cancer-causing bile acids or moves feces out of the colon more quickly, hence it reduces contact-time of feces in digestive system reducing chances of producing carcinogens (cancer-causing substance).

  • ETHNOBOTANICAL / TRADITIONAL USES :
It has also been used in traditional herbal systems of India and China to treat diarrhea, hemorrhoids, bladder problems, Diverticular diseases, Urinary disorder, Coronary heart diseases and high blood pressure.

Psyllium was also used topically to treat skin irritations, including poison ivy reactions and insects bits and stings.

with respect.  also...do you think emailing her about it was the best step.  you think she might be having a cry for help because she is not "cleaning it up".  than talk to one of her better friends that you are concerned or maybe you should have just talked to her in person.  i dont know what kind of working environment you are in, at my work, it would be very ok to talk about these things even not amongst best friends.  at my husbands it would be wrong too.  so i am not saying you were wrong but in the future i would not use email,  its so impersonal for these very personal things.

wow i am amazed that someone thinks drinking tap water in france would make them sick...really amazed, actually i read that designers in france were designing special carafts,  spelling,  water pitchers for holding tap water to promot the drinking of tap water because the cities drinking water was better than bottled water and minus the pollution of the plastic bottles.  i have lived in prague for 5 years,  i drink tap water all the time, although i do avoid it in turkey and asia.  but really it is so interesting.  as for eating cheaply in france,  fresh markets,  and avoid tourist places.  my only advice

ha,  i am such a lame cook and too cheap to pay to go out to eat, that i actually look forward to airplane food,  i was always getting the veg meal, but now i have found on my delta flights its usually chicken or pasta,  my veg meals were pretty bad then,  but i have had some really good ones, and when you get the veg meal you get fruit,  sure 2 grapes but its better than that mini dessert staring at you begging to be finished.

you should see the size of my dinners.  my fav now is cabbage, carrots, tomatos,  peppers mixed with egg whites, little greek cheese, and pita with taziki on the side.  and cause i can gain weight potatos also,  with little hot sauce in the eggs.  its a massive amount of food but the calls are real low.  when i am forced to eat a small quanitiy of fat foods, at a restraunt or someones house i am never full and like....thats it what a disss bring on the veggies.,

i worked in a restraunt in GA.  For each vat of sweet tea,  those large brew things in the rest with the spickets at the bottom,  we put in 1 pitcher of sugar into that,  but sometimes you need two because someone would tell you your tea was not sweet enough for them,  after doing that,  i was so grossed by sweet tea i switched,  unsweet and right on top a dash of sweet.  i dont think you can get the acc cal count for rest tea, depends on who made the tea.

Health & Support Can I help keep my friend from scarring her daughter for life? Jun 15 2009

actually i am in the same boat as your friend a bit,  after dealing with my eating disorder and watching how my family treats food-food related issues my husband is concerned how my reaction will be to our future children.  It has helped me by being a teacher and practicing.....not making mistakes mind you, just practicing and observing how to discuss food with children and being with other moms and see how they handle food in thier homes.  I am nervous for this.  I come from an eating disordered family, cousins, uncles just about everyone is in the trap,  it has gotten better since my cousin was in the hospital it made my family more aware of how to talk to eachother which behaviors to ignore and which ones we need to discuss. and to stop commenting on weight all the time.  As for your friend please tell her,  i have had my 4 year old preschool kids comment that they can not eat something because it will make them fat....this is not coming from me,  the girl actually told me i was fat because i was eating cake,  i was 5ft 6, almost 100 lbs.  i was so upset about what info she is getting at home.   cake equals fat  there for i was fat.  her mom was thinner than me.  sad situation,  stop it before it gets worse.

One problem is...and i know it is that starbucks,  coffee shop food is expensive for what you get but its nice to sit somewhere and relax...is it illegal to bring in outside food to starbucks,  i mean i never would at restraunts,  but do people bring thier own sandwitches or stuff.  i think i brought an apple once, but i dont want people thinking its rude to bring in your own food,  and this was before starbucks even offered food.

It triggers me to eat more and not want to look sick.  i dont think they are pretty. they are selfish, immature sick girls who make everything about outside apperence. its awful.  i am trying to get healthier so no one can think of me as being one of those girls

here is the problem i hate to eat food i dont like to please other people....i dont really like chocolate so if someone brought me a choc cake i would most likely do the whole take it to my desk thing. but if it was some cake or treat i really liked i would go ahead and have a light lunch and a small piece.  It always hurts people feelings when you dont share with them something they planned special, but dont feel too bad if you need to stick to your goals.  I had the same thing happen to me but it was at a restraunt and it was akward as hell they ordered me a cake i did not like then acted like i should let myself go enjoy the cake,  ummm how could i tell them,  i dont like it.

I really like cheese too,  but i have some tricks.  i only eat really good cheese,  because a little of it slowley goes a long way.  and i never get cheese at restraunts unless again its a very special cheese,  because they over do and cover foods in usually the cheapest cheese and it really bumbs up the cals and fat. Feta and ricotta and skim mozz are great cheese.  and parm is very strong,  strong cheese is go along way where as kraft singles type stuff and low fat cheeses taste plasticy to me
