Ya'll when I first started really losing weight, I dropped like 28lbs in 2 months. However, now I feel like I am stuck! Its almost like my body has gone on strick! I am doing the same things now that I did when I dropped 28lbs. I was doing great looking at it as 1 lb at a time but now I'm starting to get that overwhelming feeling again. Once upon a time I was thin, and I want that back so badly!! The only reason I have so much weight to lose is because I want to be to between 120 - 130lbs. Do ya'll only look at small goals? or do you look at the WHOLE picture? I'm wondering if that's not where I'm going wrong. I'd really love to hear what ya'll are doing. Maybe I can get some ideas. I just can't be 30 and fat!!
thanks everyon!!

Tina, You know you can have pizza just change a few things. Normally I get thin crust, having thin crust along allows you like an extra 2 pieces w/out even having the normal calorie count in regular pizza, go light on the cheese and get veggie toppings. I HATE veggies but when they are on a pizza they are okay. This way you can still get your pizza w/out all the extra calories and beat that pizza craving!! You should be proud that you can run 2.3 miles. I might be able to run .3 :) ha ha

Hey Everyone! I've got to lose something like 135lbs. Crazy, I know! But thats what happens when you just dont care. So sad! Anyway, I was wondering how ya'll are doing?! I just started about 2 weeks ago and so far I'm doing very well. I'm very proud of myself! I do believe that this time is IT. In March of 2009 I'll be 30 (boo) and I have a goal to look HOT by the time I am 30. I refuse to be a fat 30 year old. I'm too young to be this fat. And of course its a health issue. :) But honestly for me, its all about being hot! ha ha ... I want to blend in with all my friends. NO more being the "Fat girl" in the group of hotties. I'm gonna be a hottie with them! I look forward to seeing how great you all do. Its exciting to have other people going through the same things as myself.

Ya'll I just found this article on how to lose water weight. Thought Ya'll might like it. 11 Ways to Beat Water weight
1. Stock Up Many foods and herbs promote digestion and fluid-shedding: yogurt, fiber-rich cereal, brown rice, cabbage and cranberry juice. Ginger and dandelion have a mild diuretic effect. Both are available in tea so you can brew yourself a slenderizing drink.
2. Ban Salt Surplus salt makes the body retain fluids, but you'll need to do more than hide the salt shaker. Steer clear of high sodium foods like hot dogs, olives, salted nuts, pickles and many frozen foods. Be on the lookout for less obvious sources such as soy sauce, ketchup, deli meats and cheese.
3. Skip the Sugar Too much sugar can raise insulin levels, decreasing the body's ability to excrete sodium. Avoid high sugar foods, like sweetened cereals, cakes, cookies, ice cream toppings and products containing high-fructose corn syrup, such as soda.
4. Don't Under eat Of course a low-cal diet will help you lose weight, but shed too many calories and you could create water retention. Don't eat less than 1,200 calories per day and include lean protein, an important nutrient in short supply in very low-cal diets that helps stave-off water retention.
5. Move More Your lymphatic system can't drain excess fluid out of tissues without body movement. Exercise about four times a week to relieve your body of extra fluid and salt through sweating and increased respiration.
6. Get Dry Alcohol acts as a diuretic at first, making you lose excess water. But that loss can lead to dehydration, causing the body to preserve its fluids. Opt for virgin cocktails, or dilute that glass of wine with seltzer.
7. Get Wet Take a swim. Water pressure forces fluid out of tissues and ultimately, the bladder. To emulate those results, take some of your workouts to the pool.
8. Fill Up While it seems contradictory, drinking plenty of plain water -- 8 to 10 glasses per day -- will flush salt and fluid out of your system. A well-hydrated body in less likely to retain water.
9. Spread It Out Eat five or six small meals instead of three big meals. Nibbling or drinking at frequent intervals will keep you nourished and hydrated and will help avoid the rush of fluid to the tissues that may occur with eating large infrequent meals.
10. Choose Natural Anything packaged-including that can of asparagus that seems so healthy-will give you more sodium than you need. Become a purveyor of the farmer's market. Ditch canned products and flavored packaged grains. Plan meals that include fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
11. Go Bananas Bananas are a natural source of potassium, a nutrient needed to help the body balance fluids. Not a banana fan? Apricots, avocados and raisins are potassium-rich, too. Strive for 5 grams of potassium daily. Other nutrients to include each day through diet or supplements: 300-400 milligrams of magnesium (food sources include green vegetables, nuts, seeds) and 1000-1200 milligrams of calcium (orange juice, yogurt, tofu). Getting an adequate amount of each can help alleviate bloating.

Indi, girl we are in the SAME boat! I turn the big 30 in March and that is one of my biggest driving factors. I dont wanna be a fat 30 yr old!
Congrats on all the weight loss going on! :) Now that my treadmill is FINALLY put together, I've been walking on it every night. Some nights only for like 15 minutes others for 30 to 45. It all depends on how beat I am after a long day at work! I believe things are going in the right direction for me. I know that this is IT for me. I'm done being the "fat girl" around all my hot friends!! Soon, I'll just be another hot friend! ha
Oh and Welcome to all the new comers! Glad to have ya here! |

I just really wanted to Welcome everyone to the group. Jackattach, I understand having a medical condition that doesn't make it any easier to lose weight. I've got PCOS and w/out my medication I doubt even doing what I am doing now, I wouldn't lose even a lb! Thankfully I'm on my med's and its sorta a magical pill. Because it actually gives me a metabolism. Its weird to actually eat now because I'm hungry not just because its noon and I know its lunch time. I know with my medical condition, I'm consulting with my doctor. It would probably be a good idea if you did the same. Maybe the dr would have ideas to help you get off the plateau. Just a thought!
Wish you all much success!! |

Welcome Tysy2506. Of Course you can still chat with us, I'll be 30 in March! Yeah I dont go by what CC says I should do either. I am however, listening to what my Dr says I should do. Well for the most part. My goal is to drop at least 100lbs by the time I turn 30!! If I listened to what CC says I wouldn't reach my gw until 2011! Umm, I so do not have that kinda time. |

Hey Ya'll! Welcome to all the new comers!! Nice to have more people on here. I had a horrible weekend. I got a stomach bug and I haven't hardly eaten or anything since Saturday. So, maybe it'll help me lose weight! ha :) Seriously though, I dont think Chicken noodle soup is that great for ya but it seems to be the only thing I can hold down. -- I know ya'll are weighing in each week and that is great. But I'm going to wait until I go back to Dr's before I know what I've lost. I'm sure it'll show in my clothes but the #'s will just make me mad that its not going down faster. I know silly but its true. I think knowing the # makes me feel like a big fat loser. SO, if I dont know what I weigh then I'll at least feel semi-good about myself! I was wondering, inside do any of ya'll feel like your fat? Or are you kinda like me, a Thin girl trapped in a fat girls body???? :) Just Curious! |

Thanks for the advice. I spoke to my Dr. last night and he told me to up it to between 1400 - 1600. So, I up my calories to 1400.
Good news. The last time I weighted myself was March 15th. And since then I have lost 24lbs. Now that is probably due to the stress of having a very sick parent and spending my whole days and half my nights in the Hospital. So, I'm sure it'll slow down now but still 24lbs! Go me! :) My doctor was telling me last night that I need to get a pedometer and try to do 10,000 steps a day. Which of course at first, I doubt I'll be at 10,000 but he said if I limit my calories to between 1400 and 1600 and do 10,000 steps a day, there is NO way I wont lose weight. And it'll come off the healthy way! :) So, I'm gonna try that and see what happens. |
