No change for me from the weekend, either, but with the way the week has started, I'm actually satisfied with it.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, and be sure to enjoy, while still trying to stay strong.  Wink

Okay - I'll give it a try, too.  Maybe Wednesday weigh-ins will make it easier for me to stay focused over the weekends, too!

Pregnancy & Parenting Headaches Aug 20 2008

PLEASE go have your blood pressure checked, if you haven't since the headaches started!  I have a friend who recently had to have an emergency C-Section almost 2 months early due to Eclampsia, even though the doctors never diagnosed her with Pre-Eclampsia at any of the checkups she'd gone to -- her blood pressure had been fine.  The only symptom she'd had for a few days before it happened were terrible headaches, and then one morning she went in to convulsions, and had to have the C-Section.  Please don't think I'm an alarmist -- I know this was an extreme case, but it was recent enough that it's still very fresh in my mind.  Best of luck, and good health!  :)

Weight Loss The one week no weighing yourself challenge. Any takers? Help me out here! Aug 20 2008

I made it ALMOST a week...  which is longer than I thought I would!  The end of last week was bad - we had to put one of our cats to sleep last Wednesday (he'd been sick for a while, but still...) so my emotions  got the better of my eating clean and exercising.  I was able to get back on track for the weekend (which is usually when I get off track!) and I've been able to stay on track since then, but I couldn't resist the lure of the scale yesterday...  I will now recommit to this challenge for another week (although I will do a weigh/measure on Friday morning, and then go from there.)

I usually weigh myself more than once a day too, and then it can affect my mood for the whole day or night...  :P  I was actually thinking this morning that I should do something like this, so I'm in, too!  I know it will be hard -- REALLY hard, since it's such an ingrained habit to help me stay on track -- but I think I need to do it, for my MENTAL health!  :}

How about Oroweat Double Fiber bread?  70 calories per slice, 4 grams of protein, and 6 grams of fiber!  It's a bit on the pricey side in my area, but nutritionally, and tastewise, it's a great deal!  :)

Ooooohhhhhh, mexican restaurant refried beans.....  *drool...*

It's amazing how many foods can appear "healthy" or "not so bad" until you read the labels, if there are any! Here's another one -- Costco muffins!!!

Miss Molly, I'm a long-time lurker here and great fan of yours (and the rest of you regular posters, too!), venturing out to say that we all will be thinking about you tomorrow at The Doctor's Appointment, and we eagerly anticipate your report of The Doctor's Reaction! (Do you think CC would be able to get more bandwidth in place before then? I'm afraid we'll crash the site, what with everyone trying to view your post at the same time!)

Weight Loss Disappointed: When will I see smaller pants!!?? Oct 17 2007
00:51 (UTC)

Please keep in mind that not all size X (enter your pant size here) are created equal.  I have a good friend who went shopping one day and tried on two pairs of pants that should’ve been exactly identical according to the labels (same manufacturer, same style, same size) and each pair fit her completely different.  I myself had one day in which I bought three pairs of pants that each fit me well – one was a size 8, one a size 10 and one a size 12.  (*sigh...* This is a point to which I’m trying to return…)

The best way to tell if you’re shrinking is to get yourself a measuring tape, and measure yourself on a regular basis to chart your progress.  The scale is not necessarily the best indicator of the changes your body is going through – if you’re losing fat but gaining muscle, the scale may not reflect the change, because a pound of muscle takes up much less room in your body than a pound of fat does!

 To your health!  :)

AAaaaaahahahahahaaaaa!!!!

Molly, you cracked me up with your post -- I love it!!  Thanks for the laugh!!  :D

Feydruss -- with a really good week with food and working out, and especially if you feel good and you're noticing positive changes in your body, then it's more than likely muscle gain.  Bravo!

Weight Loss Could this be the reason why I'm not losing any weight? Sep 18 2007

I have, upon occasion, not had a period for a while because of stress. When I first went to college I didn't have one for 3 months until I went to a Dr. and got on the pill to regulate, and then last year my husband lost his job and was then diagnosed with cancer, so I went off the pill to try to save some money (the risk of pregnancy was WAYYY low at that point...) and I didn't have one for 6 months. I got back on the pill, and now am fine. I've never been at any risk for secondary amenorrhea -- I've got plenty of fluff -- it was just stress. Is there anything stressful going on in your life right now?

Definitely go see a GYN - you need to find out if there's something wrong and get it taken care of. Please don't put this off -- your health is important, and if there is a physical cause to this, ignoring it will only make it worse.

To your health! :)

Weight Loss How often do you measure for inches lost? Sep 14 2007

I did the exact same thing this morning, jhayann1!  And no matter how reassuring the measurements were, it's still amazing how much that number on the scale can affect my mood. Even though I KNOW (in my head, at least...) that it's NOT the best gauge of progress, and that the tape measurer is much more reliable!

Stupid scale...

Fitness who here thinks working out everyday is a waste of time? Sep 12 2007
20:14 (UTC)

I agree with tgpish. As long as you are sure you're not neglecting other important aspects of your life (family, friends, work, relaxation, sleep, etc.) to work out, you're fine. And if your mother and friends don't have positive alternative suggestions for "what you should be doing" instead of spending time at the Gym, then they are just jealous. Just make sure you're listening to your body, and resting when your body needs it, especially if you're ill or injured.

To your health! :)

Weight Loss "if it's not 4th meal it's just food"?? what??? Sep 12 2007

Yeah...  The 4th meal commercials just make me cringe.  And how about the Pizza Hut commercials with their new dipping sauce thing?  Isn't a Pizza calorie- and fat-laden enough as it is?!

The point is that the fast food joints only want the money, and they are trying everything they can to appeal to the taste buds to get more people in the doors to spend their money.  Health food?  Who cares!  The only thing that matters is the bottom line, and getting more people in the door so they can sell more of the product.
