I agree that we are obligated to care for domestic animals. I don't, however, think that we should continue to allow the ones we own to breed.

There are too many to be taken care of and I think that their lives must be such a drag, even in the best of homes. I definately wouldn't want to be in a domestic animal's situation.

Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Babes In Toyland, 7 Year Bitch, L7, Jack Off Jill, The Distillers, Sleater-Kinney(kinda), X-Ray Spex, The Plasmatics, Lunachicks...Pretty much any punk or feminism inspired music is likely to be angry (and rightfully so).
Vegetarian Do vegans have clearer skin? Mar 24 2008

I phased out meat, eggs and dairy gradually, so I'm not really sure if that was why my skin improved or not. But I have noticed that my acne is a hell of alot better than it used to be. I'm not really sure of the cause. I'd like to think it was giving up animal products, though.

I am sure that my BO is not nearly as bad as it used to be. I never really stunk THAT bad, but I have noticed that my stink is much milder. In case you wanted to know all about it...

"County music makes me cry, but it's the I'm crying out of frustration because it sucks so bad and I can't turn it off fast enough.  It's more of a freak out than a cry.  The twang hits me and I sort of just panic looking for some kind of switch to make it go away."

^^lol

Elliott Smith makes me cry sometimes.

Lives by Modest Mouse always gets me because it makes me feel like they've read my mind.

"Everyone's afraid of their own life
If you could be anything you want
I bet you'd be disappointed, am I right?

If you knew everything they thought
I bet that you'd wish that they'd just shut up"

Of course if there is no plant based food to be found, a human would resort to eating another animal. Humans can digest both plants and animals, therefore we're omnivors. We are opportunistic feeders.

I've always thought meat smelled a bit like ass, even when I was eating it. It smells alot worse now that I know where it comes from.

It doesn't bother me enough to make me gag or anything, maybe because I haven't been a vegan for too long and I smell it frequently since I live with meat eaters.

Skittles have gelatin. I was told yesterday that the skittles in Europe are made without it, though. So I guess that if someone REALLY loved skittles and but didn't want to support cruelty to animals, they could import they're candies from Europe.

Weight Loss Has this happened to anyone? Dec 21 2007

I know what you're going through right now.

I started at 154 in April and reached my goal of 125 by August. Then I was going to increase my calories to 1500 from 1200, and I started to gain again. Then I got all emotional and helpless and started these binge cycles.

Here I am today at 140. And it's miserable.    But It's my own doing, and I just have to try again and start at 1500 cals for slow and steady weight loss. So try again.

Weight Loss how long does it take to get out of starvation mode? Sep 27 2007

I've seen the results of starvation mode first hand. I restricted my calories to 1000 maximum, not knowing any better, for a few months, and I lost my period, my sense of hunger, my sex drive, I became dizzy and weak when I stood too quickly, and I was really irritable. So I believe it.

Weight Loss I'm not feeling well, could it be that my diet is not well balanced? Sep 24 2007

A nutritionist is a great idea.

In the mean time, you may benifit from more plant based fats, like nuts and avocado. Except for B12, there's really nothing in animal products that you can't get from plant based food.

Make sure you get a variety of protein rich veggies like leafy greens though.

A wider range of fruits, veggies and beans will also give you the nutrients your body needs to function most efficiently.

I'm definately no pro, so I think you should take your advice from a nutritionist.

You may want to concider taking a b12 vitamin. Otherwise, you can get all of your nutrients from non-animal food products.
Health & Support Anyone else freeze? Sep 23 2007

Yes. I've lost over 20lbs in the past 5 months, and now that autumn is here, I'm noticing that I'm freezing throughout most of the day. 85 degrees is perfect sweater weather for me now. I'm just guessing that it's because I have less fat to insulate me now. It sounds like you get alot colder than I do though...

I hated the cold 20lbs ago, so I'm guessing that I'm going to be miserable all winter. :-P
Weight Loss Not getting enough calories? Sep 20 2007

Thanks for posting this!

Last week I realized I wasn't getting enough calories. I want to lose 8 more pounds, but I'm in no rush, so my plan is to slowly, steadily increase my daily intake to 1700. I've found that Flax oil, Olive oil, peanut butter and nut are lifesavers.

It's such a releif to know that there are other people who have to eat when they're not hungry.

My butt used to be my favorite body part. Since I lost weight, its started to dissappear too. I miss it in a way, but it's still my bum and it's still beautiful.

Since I've been losing weight, I've been learning to love my body and myself more and more. I personally would never want any type aesthetic plastic surgery. Ever.

It's a huge committment with even greater risks.

I believe that when women undergo cosmetic sugery, they are confirming their subordinate position in society.

I don't understand how a woman could be more confident when what she's proud of isn't her.

That's why I stopped wearing padded bras and chemically relaxing my hair in the Spring. I'm proud of what comes natural to me and I've never been more confident.

But--if you do decide to go along with the surgery, PLEASE don't rush into it.

I haven't had my cycle since June, and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I have lost nearly 20 lbs since April at a slow, steady pace. I exercise at least a bit everyday, and workout about every other day. I'm about 5'4 and 131lbs right now. I eat 1,200 calories daily. I try to eat 30%fat 30%protein 40% carbs.

Any Ideas where I'm going wrong?

500-600 if I eat until I'm satisfied. In the past week, I've had a few days that I've forced myself to put away 1,200 cals, but I always feel uncomfortably full and unpleasent. Could my stomach be shrinking or something?

It definately makes me feel better to know I'm not alone.

I went grocery shopping this afternoon and bought dried fruit, nuts and bananas and whole wheat pasta. I couldn't really find any healthy high calorie foods in my supermarket.

I've only eaten a cup of corn flakes, 1/4 cup yogurt and an apple today but I'm not hungry at all. It's craaazy!

I walked for an entire hour this morning. I'm usually hungry after a good workout.

Plus...

My period is late. Again.

I usually get it in the beginning of the month. In August, I was nearly two weeks late and it only lasted a day. So far, no signs this month. Any ideas what's up with that?
