And I guess I'm the only one that sits on her butt that week, lol!! I don't use tampons if I don't absolutely have to, and there's no way I'll work out with only a pad. There were times that I did go for the tampon + pad (what? I like to be safe) just to work out. But generally, I'd rather sit on my butt than go through that hassle! |

I have been dating my boyfriend for a little over a year and a half and we've spent only 45 days out of that time together. So, yeah, I'm nuts and yes... It's hard. I can completely relate. I'm flying over to him in August and going to be there for 3 months. We're making it work... It is bloody difficult but if there's a will, there's a way. We still have a little while before I can move in with him as I have to turn 21, but it'll get here soon enough. |

I guess... Thanks for the advice. Gi-Jane, I'm not being vain... I like exercising and it is really one of the only few things giving me joy, right now. Everything else is just mostly stress, so getting taken that away from me, too... It rather sucks. And yeah, I do like the way I look better now because I've always been called 'squishy' or been told that I'm insanely weak... That doesn't mean I'm vain, I've just made progress that I don't want to lose in such a short amount of time. I was maybe looking for suggestions on things I can do that aren't heavy exercise or reassurance that I won't really see a difference that quickly. I wouldn't ever go against the advice of a doctor... I'm in the health care field, and I listen and do exactly as told and nothing more, nothing less. So, if she says not to exercise for 15 days, or more... Then I won't, no worries about that. |

Sounds about right. I've also read in my books that it can take up to 15 hours from the moment you eat it until it leaves your body. |

I know how you feel. In August last year I could fit in some pants at the weight I am now, and right now I can't. I managed to squeeze back in them for ONE day last month (so it's not my body shape changing!), and I'm back to not fitting in them. If it wasn't because they're practically new and I love them... I'd set them on fire... |

I can relate. I was completely obsessed with everything that went into my mouth, and working out religiously because of my terrible body image and my weight that won't budge. After Easter, I started eating desserts and things that I really shouldn't eat and I don't care that I eat them. Not a bit of guilt in me, and I keep justifying them. I guess it is my way of losing motivation since I haven't lost weight in the previous 2 very good months? I'm still exercising but I don't mind if I skip a day or two. Today I had cake and a couple of cookies, and I did yesterday, as well, after a huge dinner and I still can't seem to care. I've promised myself that this is the last week this is happening. I hope I don't let myself down next week. :| I hope you can find a way to stop this behaviour and exchange it for something better for yourself. |

Well, I went to the doctor and she gave me some birth control pills for me to try. I'm kind of anxious to start, and hoping to God there will be no ugly side effects and that they will just be a blessing. :P Yep, that's how it's going to be. It's some latin american brand name but they are the same components as Yasmin, so we'll see how it goes! Thanks again to all of you who posted and advised me! I told my mother that if I begin wanting to eat all the time, that she shouldn't let me. I hope I can get a grip if that happens. |

26/30 here... I'm on the hard level, but I don't want to stress my already sore knees so I'm doing Anita moves for less impact. I have to say, I do see more definition on my arms, and perhaps maybe a bit on my legs... But I was really hoping I'd look much better? :( I feel like I look the same way... Maybe it's all in my head. O.o I'm thinking of starting the 6 week program with Biggest Loser Cardio Max and Power Sculpt... Have any of you done those? |

Brownies on Saturday... I don't regret them, but I do think that I should probably stop with the sweets as I've had way too many in the past couple of weeks! If I went back, I'd probably eat them, again, lol. It was very spontaneous of me, no remorse.. So, I thought what the heck. ;) |

Sounds a bit like what I started doing to lose weight... I was advised by a nutritionist and it worked. I don't do most of that anymore, though I do eat complex carbs by themselves like spaghetti with vegetables/tomato sauce only, no meats... And I eat beans by themselves as soup, or with a salad. Meh, I really don't know. It did work when I needed to and I felt great. I just couldn't continue living without dairy, I like yogurt too much and I enjoy having oatmeal for breakfast. I was having only fruit and that was nowhere near enough to keep me active through exercise after a day at work/school. O.o |

I am your height and I would kill to weigh as much as you do. In fact, it is my goal weight... The number on the scale is really unimportant if you are healthy. I say keep the healthy route up until you start seeing results. I've been eating healthy and exercising everyday for two months and I'm not seeing a drop in weight... In fact, I'm not even fitting into my old clothes but does that make me stop? No, because I know that I am healthy. Starving yourself might get you the number you want to see, but you won't be healthy... And the important part is your health. I'm still hoping my body will wake up and start shedding kilos, but I'm not going to let that rule my life. You shouldn't let this rule yours, either. Just keep exercising, focus on toning up and you will feel tons better. I know that I do, even though I haven't lost weight, I have more definition to my arms and legs and even my stomach, and that helps. |

| Motivation | What helped you make the switch to "thinking healthy"? | Apr 18 2009 17:52 (UTC) |

I was in the last year of high school and I was tired of being the fat girl. I started some crash diets and they worked, but I immediately went to a nutritionist who told me to start walking daily and taught me her way of eating. A bit of low-carb eating (no complex carbs, and then added once a week) with a combination of something else, I can't recall what it's called. She advices to eat fruit by itself, and not mix complex carbs and protein or vegetable protein with animal protein... Stuff like that. It was a good kick-start as I lost 30 pounds and I was happy as can be. I've fallen off the wagon and gone back to not watching my weight and eating what I pleased a few times, but I usually get a grip... I've pretty much maintained though I did gain back 4 pounds that I can't get rid of. As far as the exercise, when the nutritionist adviced to walk... We started walking, but then my parents purchased an elliptical trainer and that became my new best friend. And now that I have opened my eyes to the world of workout videos, I'm digging those, too. I feel unsafe outside in my country, so I enjoy being able to get a good workout at home. Now, after 3 years, I've kept habits from my nutritionist, learned some new stuff along the way. As I can't afford to keep going to her, and I love cereals and milk and yogurt which I wasn't allowed to eat. So, I just try to keep to a calorie range and include those things, too, since they are not unhealthy. I've also learned that it is alright to have treats every now and then, and try to control my portions or balance it out with the rest of the day. I'm committed to my body and health (which is excellent), and I hope I can keep this up forever and at least maintain, if not lose a bit more weight. |

Interesting replies. What about complex carbs? Breads, pastas, rice, potatoes... I don't eat these on a regular basis. And that has lowered my tryglicerids waaay down. I still eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, so... Do any of you know if that is going to take a toll on my overall health? Other than that, I am healthy as can be and I rarely get sick and if I do, it's only minor like a head cold. |

I just finished day 20, but I have taken rest days. I am experiencing a little uncomfortable feeling, like very mild pain on my left knee every so often and I'm thinking that is the source of it. So, I've skipped days and done the elliptical only instead. I will continue until I do the full 30 days but after that I'll give Biggest Loser Cardio Max and Power Sculpt a try... Anyone tried those? I should say I also feel stronger... I can definitely tell on my arms and a few family members who I don't see often have told me that I look great. So, I'm content. ;) |

So, I started doing the 30 day shred and go on the elliptical for 30 minutes afterwards. I have added yogurt, cereal, granola to my diet to get a bit more calories in. I have chosen a day in which I do eat complex carbs... All in efforts of eating more. I've been trying to count more and I end up with 1500 calories, or maybe 1600... According to the tools my deficits are like 700... I'm still not seeing results, though? I don't know if it's that time of the month or what, but I managed to fit in a pair of pants a couple of weeks ago, and now I can't, again. I'm at loss... I don't know if I'm just retarded and don't know what I'm doing. And I'm partially hoping that my thyroid bloodwork results come out with something that will give me an answer to my body being so ridiculous about weight loss. :( But with my luck, it'll probably turn out in me being healthy as can be and just retarded. ;) |

Yeah, I really hate the thought of hormones in my body... But I'm trying to stay positive and rule out that any side effects will affect me. ;) I will definitely tell the doctor to prescribe one with a low dosage... I told her I was scared of them, and she said not to worry and that she'd help me. We'll see. If they don't work for me, I just won't take them. Thanks! :) |

Woo, what a read. :) Thanks for all the input, ladies. I know there are several side effects but I don't want to think about those and I just pray I will be lucky, lol. I am concerned about weight gain because I'd rather not take birth control, then. I was under the impression that weight gain was caused by the hormone load, rather than just people eating more, or any other factors. But since I hear so many good things... It calms me down a little. I doubt I will go for a shot, I'll probably just go for the pills, instead. I'll have to discuss it with my doctor. Well, I don't even have a doctor, I work at a clinic. And one of the doctors asked if I was sexually active yet, and I said no. And she prompted me to get bloodwork done and go to her consult so that she can start me on something. I work with ionizing radiation so I guess it's smart to take care of myself, so I just went along with it. I am still hugely terrified of taking hormones but I trust this woman. ;) Thanks, again!!

Today I did Level 2 for the second time... I took a rest day in between. This one is a killer and I find myself doing some Anita moves! :( I'm weaaak, lol. Today I felt like someone had punched me in the ribs, and that was after a rest day. :P I'll keep going as best I can, but I doubt I will get used to this in just 10 days, lol. |

I think I have the same problem... Today I added granola to my oatmeal, and then as a snack I had both fruit (apple and an apricot) and yogurt with some cereal. I also have some nuts for different days. The bigger issue with me is that I started feeling starved last week. We'll see if I can finally start shedding pounds, now. ;) Good luck to you! |

Congrats on the losses! :P I'm so glad to see your results. I have done 8 workouts so far, so I'll be starting the second one either Monday or Tuesday, depending on if I take a day off or not. I'm pretty nervous about the second level, lol! My dumb mistake was not measure myself before starting, so I can't really track my progress. But I do feel better, so I'll just keep going! |

I'm excited to see results in the future. I was thinking of switching to level 2 after 10 days but now I don't know, maybe I'll let my body tell me when I'm ready! |

I'm just busy and I don't have time to fix my meals. And lazy by the time I am home, so mom fixes dinner, too. I don't like eating complex carbohydrates... I don't know why but I swear they make me have awful constipation issues! I did tell my mom about whole wheat bread or pasta, because I know that I'm going to have to start eating that eventually... But I was put off by the gastrointestinal issues I had a few weeks ago. I like the oatmeal better than cereal, but again, I don't have time to make it myself. I'm sure my mom is making it the way I've asked her to. And I eat what I want, I just tell her what I want. It's my own fault that I'm not eating any carbs. I guessed I may be undereating... I'll give adding carbs a try. Thanks for your advice. |
