I am really happy to be back.  It's kinda funny, but I think without the computer & being able to talk with you guys-- I had really gotten quite depressed.  I've noticed that my wt. loss has really started to happen after I stopped taking the birth control pill (my doc said I had to take due to the premature ovarian failure-- menopause) & due to this site- it has made me very aware of what I am eating & how much.  I have totally gotten rid of soda & over-processed foods & I really think now before I eat just anything-- I think it helps.  Hugs to everyone.  Congrats to all of you that are losing those lbs.,  & congrats to everyone that keeps trying, even if they aren't losing as much as they want to yet-- it is possible:)

P.S.  I had gotten kinda sick of all the water, so I have been drinking a lot of lemon ice tea- crystal light & I love it-- I think that helps cut down on those cals a lot....

Hi everyone.  I just recently have a computer again (since the beginning of this month) & it's so wonderful to see everyone working so hard & supporting each other:)  I was without a computer since the beginning of this year, talk about isolation.  I was also able to look back at my starting wt.- from Sept. 07-- I was 183 lbs.-- well I have been hanging around 161-163 lbs. & can fit into a size 12 jeans-- I was actually up to 16 at the start (& those were tight).  So in spite of myself I've lost ~ 20-22 lbs.  Not as much as my goal was- to be down to 123 lbs. this month- but I do feel & look better.  I hope everyone is doing well & dropping those lbs.......  Glad to be back.

(I think I had to delete ~ 2,000 unwanted emails since I was without my computer.  Is that ridiculous or what?)

Well finally borrowed a scale to weigh myself.  Unable to last week & throwing up for 3 days- figured it wouldn't make a difference.

178 lbs.--- no change, something doesn't seem right with that, but that's what the scale says, atleast no gain right?....

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day!!!

Late again- my anti-virus was expired- just downloaded another (it's amazing, 47 threats in ~20 mins. without it)

Anyway.  Still haven't gotten a scale yet.  It's been a busy week.  I'm hoping that I'll get one this week & it will give me good news:)

As others have stated- it's mostly just unexpected & shocking that a person of 28 yrs of age can just suddenly die....  he was young & he was loved & admired by many.

I think it shows us that we are all vunerable to illness, addictions (I'm not trying to say that was the cause, because I don't know) & we are not invincible.

I admired him as an actor & mostly just feel sorry for his family & friends (this is truly tragic for them).  What does sicken me is when the family is not able to grieve without all the speculations surrounding his untimely death & people will make $ off this tragedy.

edit:  When I first heard of his death that day (I had seen it on the news), sadly all the media could talk about were pills all over the room, but then of course it was the 6 prescription bottles in his room, well, who the ____ cares, so he had prescriptions.  Yes it may have had a cause in his death, but his memory & family deserve to mourn in private without all the media speculation!

Stellajo-- yes I will have to ask for a female scale, those male scales always tell you what you want to hear in the beginning & then after you get to know them, boom- they show you their true selves:)

I'll let you know.  Have a great week.....

Sorry about checking in late guys.  Sorry to hear that some of you aren't doing as well as you would like-- unfortunately we've all been there & it sucks!!  Congrats to everyone for trying & for their losses.

I have attempted to weigh myself & unless I weigh about 20 lbs. I think my scale is broken, & no I didn't break it by stepping on it :)- well, that's what my hubby said- he's so supportive isn't he?

I'm not going to stress about it & see what kind of new scale is out there--- mine is ancient anyway & I've needed a new one for a long time.  It would be nice if, when I get my new scale, that I step on it & find that I really weigh less than I thought....

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great week & I will talk with you on Friday:)

Ok, as of last week's weigh-in/post- it appears that we do have 13 members- & these are our #'s from now on- I hope it may be an easier way to keep track of us.  I'll try to collect some more info such as starting weights, last weeks weights & then you guys can enter in your current weight- maybe I can put it on the 1st post so it's easier to see for all of us?

kajikit- congrats, It's nice when things shrink:)

OK------ I tried to fill in what I could-- If I have entered anything incorrectly or you can help by editing your entry in your own post for this week- With the info (where I have ?'s) then I will try to edit this again for everyone:)

Hey Stellajo-  I think you're #5 (that's what you were last post for our weigh-in) & it just so happens that you are #5 after sdmerrill this week--- so you are offically #5--- just so we remember our #'s & I'm hoping we will still be at 13 members for this week.  Woohoo Betsy, good for you with the loss!  & hey sdmerrill, stellajo- we are about in the same boat, aren't we?  That's OK- just think about it- New year & new body- that's what is waiting for us:)

Last week:  179 lbs.

Today:  179 lbs.

No change.  I am going to try and not be too depressed, yes at least I didn't gain, right?  Anyway, I hope everyone else has had better luck than me for the week.  I am wishing & hoping you all have had a great week & I can't wait to see your losses:)

So far it looks like we have 13 members in our group- I don't think I could have easily figured that out if we hadn't closed it to new members & started #-ing members (I hope it isn't too much of a problem with doing it this way).  I know we still may have some of our long-term members checking in later for whatever reasons, so I will keep checking on that.  Congrats to everyone for your progress & your support given to all our members--- we all want the same thing & it helps to be there for each other.

mwezo-- your question about evening/night eating--- it seems that it happens for many reasons- just think at the end of the long day, you're trying to un-wind, your mind is busy, maybe replaying the day, maybe stressing about things, think of it this way-- if you were a smoker- maybe you would smoke more?.  Instead of spending $, getting drunk, displaying OCD tendencies- you start making yourself feel better (at least at first) by picking at food-- food is always there to comfort you, I mean, you need it to live, right?  It is just hard for some of us to draw the line & say "I'm not hungry, & I don't really need to eat this, I'm only eating this to make myself feel better".

You might want to try to keep a journal at night, write about things, anything-- things that are going through your mind at that moment, write about your day, whatever you want- just keep your mind & hands busy writing (not touching food).  Sometimes, I find myself getting on the phone with my mom- that distracts me from thinking about what is in my fridge/cupboard- & of course eating it.

I hope this helps:)

Good morning everyone.  It would make sense to re-number ourselves now that the group is closed to new members.  I tried to look back this past weekend, but it was to confusing.  So, now, knowing that this is the entire group that will be logging in as of today (& of course, any members that log in within in the next day or two, for those that can't reach a computer today)-- it makes sense to start off #'d & then try & keep the same # from now on?

Today's weight:  179 lbs.

I've gained since last weigh-in-  which was a while ago, but I still haven't went back to my starting weight, so, I guess that's something, right?

Good luck today, everyone & it's nice to be back:)

Okay guys, I will be done for the day with the computer.  I will try to look at it early tomorrow (Sat. Dec. 29th) am.  I think that I will try to take everyone that has logged in their weight by the end of today & then assign #'s & close out to new ppl- I feel bad saying that, but it has grown quite a bit.  Actually I'll try to edit my initial forum post to say closed now- but I hope all of our regulars will log in.  Thanks guys for supporting this:)

groupiegirlnj- when I started this group I honestly was just winging it & figured we- as a group would set up guidelines as we went- it does make it a bit confusing at times as new members ask "can I still join in each week?".  I personally would have a hard time turning anyone away that wants to join seriously & needs support.  If anyone who has been with our group from the beginning would like to set up guidelines about when/or if we should start to set a limit & close out the group to new members- as a way to get a handle on the group, please let me know.  I am open to any thoughts/suggestions.  When I started #'s a few weeks ago, that was my attempt to start to try to figure out how many members we have- at this point it is too hard to count everyone- & some don't give themselves a # or possibly are not aware of this.

Mine is #1- that was from the day that I started trying to #/count our members.  We have definitely grown, but I think we need to try to get better control of the group- less confusing, then hopefully more supportive to everyone's needs-- I started this group back on Sept. 11th of 2007- so I think it has been open to CC members for quite a while if they were interested in joining.  If anyone else has any objections to my closing it out to new members please let me know-- I believe it's all of our group.

Thanks guys:)

*edit*--- also, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I've seen some people post never to be heard from again (excluding myself & others who have been sick, hospitalized or had family situations that have prevented them from logging in weekly)- I'm referring to those that may have asked to join in & that's the last they are seen in our post-- so closing it out by the end of today & assigning #'s might be the best way to help with this?

Thanks guys for all the well wishes, hello to everyone that has done such a great job continuing with your weight-loss journey & welcome to all the newcomers--- you can do this.

Briefly- due to lots of IV fluids (imagine Pillsbury Dough boy), bedrest for close to a month & whatever tube feed nutrition they decided upon for me--- I'm pretty sure it wasn't diet, I am not going to weigh myself until next Friday.  I'm sure I gained while I was in the hospital, so I really don't need to depress myself even more by stepping on the scales.  I'm hoping to gain strength this week, maybe even pee out some of the fluid they gave me & try to put some healthy food back in my fridge (my family lost sight of this recently & went back to some old habits).

Anyway, I am so proud of all of you, whether you have lost, gained or maintained-- I am proud because you continue with your lifestyle change & trying to reach your goals-- looking back on your posts to each other I would find it hard to find people more supportive than you have been to each other :)

Good luck everyone- I hope we all have a great week!!!

Hey everyone.  #1 checking in.  This will be short, I'm very tired & not able to do much.  I ended up in the ICU with SVT (cardiac problems) & then ended up with a very bad pneumonia- I've been on a ventilator for a while, so it hasn't been a great month or so.  I feel bad since I started this & I haven't been around, but as you can tell I've been otherwise occupied.  I don't even know what my weight is since they were weighing me via bed scales when I was sedated on the vent.  Anyway, I will try this week to look back on everyone's progress a little bit at a time.  I will try to check in this Friday- I'll see how I feel.  I lost a lot of strength while I was in the hospital.  Anyway,  I have been thinking about all of you & really do hope that everyone is well & making their way to their goals.  *Hugs*

Checking in late this morning- my whole family has been sick all week (except for me) & now I feel like I'm coming down with it.  Anyway...

Last week:  172.5 lbs.

Today:  174 lbs.

ugghhh-- I gained 1.5 lbs.-- I'm going the wrong way, oh well, I will just keep going with the mindset that I can do this & I will lose all the weight that I have put on over the past couple of years.  Congrats to everyone else-  the losers, the maintainers & hey, even us, gainers- it has to come off eventually if we stick with this right?

I know you're probably right.  I was just hoping to keep seeing the #'s go down like I did in the beginning, especially since I've continued with my healthy eating habits.  I guess I'll just keep going in the direction I'm going in & hope that I'll start to see that significant loss again.  Thanks again for your help :)

Yes, I re-did it.  I thought I screwed it up also, so I redid it & I even have it on the sedentary one (which it has always been)-- I re-did it like 4 times, so it really does say 1800 cals/day-- it also has changed from this only when I have went down to 172.5 lbs. & my BMI has changed from severely to moderately obese.  So I'm puzzled.  Like I said-- I seem to have hit a plateau also & I wonder when that happens-- like how long into the weight loss or how many lbs. into the weight loss before that happens normally?

Thanks for your responses & congrats on losing or maintaining this week!!!

edit:  OK, I just rechecked it & you're right, I guess 5th times a charm- it's back to 1200 cals/day, but I still wonder about my plateau question?

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Last wk: 173 lbs.

Today: 172.5 lbs.

0.5 lbs. gone, I didn't really expect much, TTOM, anyway it's better than gaining, & I haven't given up.

I happened to look at the tools & they tell me that my weight now puts me in the moderately obese BMI range (was severely I guess), & it still tells me a day in August of 2008 I will reach my goal of 123 lbs. if I lose 1.2 lbs/wk, but now it tells me that instead of 1200 cals/day that I can have 1800 cals/day?  Does this sound right?  It does seem that with the 1200 cal/day that I kind of have stalled out around this weight, whereas, at the start (Sept. 1st) I was losing quicker- I realize that's usually water weight, but still, I've been pretty good keeping it around 1200 cals/day & on the occas. day that I go up maybe 200-300 cals more I notice that I don't gain, so I don't mean to make this confusing, but I am a little confused- should I up my cals to ~1800/day?  Should I keep my cals ~ 1200/day?  Or should I vary between the both #'s?

I would appreciate any of your input on this.  Have I even hit a plateau already?  When do you usually hit your 1st plateau?  Thanks guys... I hope everyone else is doing well........

I love fruit, probably more than veggies in general (although I'm learning to like more veggies).  I too have a problem with if I eat an apple on a empty stomach- It can give me a stomach ache, it's been that way since I was little, oddly enough, chocolate doesn't do that :P  Fruit is one of the best snacks!!!
