I agree with Haley here - weight loss is totally 80% diet, 20% muscle work (i.e. get busy).

Yep proof is here :)

Studies have shown that the key to KEEPING weight off is exercise, not diet.  If you want to lose weight without exercise, most likely you will gain the weight back.  I would just start slow on your exercise, and find something you enjoy. You'll thank yourself later.

I have actually heard the opposite...it's diet, not exercise.

1. What was your starting weight?  250 lbs

2. What is your current weight?  149 lbs

3. How long did it take for you to reach your goal weight?  11 months

4. Did you have any extra/hanging skin near the end of your journey?  Nope

5. What was/is your diet like?  Lots of veggies, water, fruit, popcorn, and 1 cheat dinner a week.

6. I'm hoping the answer to this question is no, but I'm going to ask it anyway... Did you exercise? If so, what was your routine like?  I used treadmill 3 times a week to walk.  Not run, not jog....walk.

If you mean a deficit of 500 a week - yes, that is slow. That means you'll loose one pound every seven weeks or so.

You mean you'll lose one pound a week right?

I was told that you should check your resting pulse first thing when you wake up in the morning...even before you put your feet on the floor!  That is a more true reading of 'resting'.

It's NEVER too late!  Jump right back on tomorrow!  You haven't undone all your great efforts.  Just drink extra water next couple days and rid yourself of all the extra sodium!

You'll feel better once you get started again!  We all have those days and there is no need to beat yourself up!

Weight Loss They aren't ugly just because they don't look like you! Apr 07 2009

Original Post by hannahmcc:

I am getting really sick of people constantly telling us that skinny is beautiful! Everyone is entitled to their opinion and different people see different types as what they deem to be 'perfect' and that is fine but when someone turns around and says 'your fat' (translated to ' Your ugly because you don't look like me') and bullies you into an insecure state of mind in which you feel you need to lose weight to be part of our society i think people have gone too far!

Its more and more apparent in kids who hang out on the street or in school and bully other kids. i was bullied at age 11 for being overweight...for christ sake why would an 11 year old care about how she or he looks! But it took its toll and i lost all the weight and granted im happier in myself but im never happy enough because its stuck with me. no matter how skinny i become im never happy because in the back of my mind all i hear is the taunts from the school boys. Even now i have 12/13 year old girls and boy coming up to me saying im fat....im 18 and i have someone x amount of years younger then me telling me how i should look?

If you have any children that are being bullied for being fat, PLEASE dont encourage them to lose weight, if they want to do it on their own accord by all means but if you get pushed into losing weight you have no idea of the psychological damage it has to you in the long run. The damage you cause by being rude to people about how they look is unimaginable and to people who have never been in that position where someone has said something hurtful they couldn't even comprehend how it makes you feel.

Most children today are horrible creatures and even though everyone is their own person but alot of the times its the parents that influence a child at such a young age and then there friends. Is there really nothing we can do about this madness?

AMEN SISTA!

please reconsider your 800 calorie a day starvation.

Believe it or not, you will lose weight faster if you eat more.

I'm sure you'll get tons of posts.....just please re-consider

Yes real food...I wouldn't waste my money on that prepackaged stuff.  However, look on the bright side....You have lost almost 50 lbs!  That is awesome!

Take a deep breath and stay focused!  You can do this the right way!  I don't know how much weight (if any) you still plan on losing however, it is very attainable!  Calorie counting isn't really 'fun' but now for myself it is now just a part of life.  It comes second nature and I do it without really even thinking about it!  I tend to stay focused when I see actual numbers and a real 'plan' in action.

Stay positive!  50 lbs is HUGE!

Weight Loss Anyone knows why? Mar 29 2009

I bet you will get a bajillion remarks saying that even 1150 is not enough food.

You are putting yourself into 'conservation' mode and your body will not drop any weight because it will think it's starving.  Please reconsider your intake and perhaps just go for a little walk a few times a week.

I'm sure someone else will chime in soon to help me explain the process better :)

Nobody should ever eat under 1200 calories a day.  If you want to have a larger deficit, you will need to add some sort of exercise...even walking!  You'd be surprised how much moving just a bit will help

Weight Loss I am sure you have all heard this same story before but... Mar 25 2009

Are you weighing your food?  I find that when I measure and count ALL my food, I am successful.  Period.

I truly believe that is a key to portion control.  I had no idea how much I was really eating!!!

Also I read an article this morning ..... "When you start to work out or increase your activity, the body tends to hold onto water, which can make it seem like you've gained a few pounds. But this water weight actually helps fuel your metabolism and allows your muscles to function properly. The erratic fluctuations in weight can be frustrating, so avoid the scale for at least the first month of a weight-loss plan."

I know it's hard to not weigh yourself regularly, but try to avoid the scale for while.  BTW, with the amount of exercise you are doing...I would keep your activity level at light and add any 'extra' exercise you get as well.  Are you using a heart rate monitor?

Yep totally get that!  It will be 2 years in July that I've been on this journey and I STILL see a larger self!  Maybe not as big as 250 lbs when I started but I definitely still go to the Xlarge section of clothing for some reason.

Your mind will eventually catch up to your body :)
Keep up the great work!!!
