| congrats on the weight loss! I know how you feel about eating out. I always try to choose places that naturally have high protein content, such as sushi or something. otherwise, i always go for chicken/fish with rice/veggies. AND i don't eat everything on my plate. i swear that restaurants contribute to the fattening of america. i wouldn't eat beforehand either, because it creates for an awkward situation. plus, at some point, you have to learn how to eat out. i found this just a minute ago, perhaps it will help. http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/eatingout/Re staurant_Eating_Low_Carb.htm as for drinking, i would stick to ONE glass of red wine. despite the alcohol, the tannins are good for you. otherwise, you can say that you don't drink. people do respect that. good luck! |

| if you're really into cooking, then you should try "the best light recipe" from the editors of cook's illustrated. they reduce the amount of fat/calories without compromising on flavor. the book is by the same people who do america's test kitchen on pbs. I wouldn't say it's a diet book, but lighter recipes of everyone's favorite meals, like mac and cheese and chicken parmesan. it's good too since they focus on all types of dishes...inclusing fish/shellfish. and their peanut butter cookies are divine! | |||

| i wouldn't drink anything...sorry. all liquors are ranked as F for a reason on here. can you drink just cranberry juice? and i wouldn't cut calories because there are other nutrients you need so you won't get sick! perhaps if you were to drink ANYTHING...maybe red wine or light beer. Those tannins in red wine are (supposedly) good for you...i believe it though. but i don't know any clubs that have red wine.... | |||

| First of all, get this mindset out of your head that you are "chubby"...you are far from it. I mean come on! you just lost 15 lbs over the summer and you weigh now 131! that's fantastic! AND for your height (and probably your frame), you are in a healthy weight range. you must be wearing a size 6-8 jeans now, think about it like that. when i was in school, i was about your height and weight, and believe me, you're thin enough. when i went to college, i lost another 10 lbs and dropped to 120 and i looked sick. i mean, you could see my hips and my ribs. it's just not a healthy look for me. you don't want to be like that. also, about your "lean and slim" schoolmates...you know what men said when they saw lindsay lohan and nicole richie after they dropped all of their weight, "girlfriend needs a sandwich". seriously! If you ask any man (your schoolmates don't count) about those two, they will say that they looked better when they had more weight on them (men don't like sharp knees). boys at your school probably feel the same way. and i guarantee you that the girls at your school are even more self conscious about their bodies than you realize. after that pizza and cake, they probably starved themselves for 2 weeks! as long as you maintain your weight throughout high school, you should be great. if you feel that losing more weight would help you feel better, i would suggest only 5 lbs. more...if you drop further beyond that, you're going to look sick. And feel good about who you are! your self worth is not dictated by a number and i know that from experience. i hate to say this, but personality DOES go a long way in life, not your pants size. if you let it go, you will enjoy high school (and life) a lot more! and if you have cable, watch "what not to wear" on tlc, the right clothes can make any woman look thin and beautiful! | |||

| lifting weights is good and you won't bulk up if you stick to 5-10 lbs. weights. try eating about 1 oz of nuts as a snack 2 h. after lunch and 2 h. after breakfast, pistachios, almonds, cashews...helps me. find out what your RMR is, and eat a little beyond that since you're working out with cardio a lot. i guessed that you were about 25-30, so your RMR would be ~1400... http://www.shapeup.org/interactive/rmr1.php |

| Weight Loss | The Juice Diet | Sep 07 2007 00:31 (UTC) |

| I didn't try a juice diet (is this the "lemonade diet"), but i have tried some detox programs. I tried eating grapes for a week and buying pills off the internet that claim to detox (and you had to follow a very restricted diet). both of them work as a detox method, but i wouldn't recommend either of them for a diet. the grape diet is really good at detox, but you do gain the weight back. buying the pills for detox forced you to have a better diet (mainly protein), but it was still to restrictive for me because you couldn't eat tomatoes...what's wrong with tomatoes??? to be honest, i always have a "buyer beware" policy on these things that claim 7 lbs. in 7 days. i just looked at his website and it seems more "detox" than "weight loss". thank god it's not the "lemonade diet"...that thing scares me! something a bit more safer that you might want to consider is colon cleansing. i'm taking bowtrol and it helps to naturally clean the colon, or something. i dunno, all i know is that i'm less bloated on it, more regular, and my jeans fit better. but you'll be amazed at some of the stuff that comes out of you, to be honest about it! but if you want to eat more fruit and vegetables, make the effort and cut out the junk food. some great ones are broccoli, asparagus, strawberries, and bananas. i really wish corn was on the list, but it goes right through you :(. i find that this site makes it really easy to manage my calories, if one puts forth the effort. |

| Hi sarah_b! I had a lot of success with the alesse pills and its generic alternative. it has a low level of hormones and i was taking it as prescribed by my doctor to reduce the number of periods i had...i.e. take 3 packets (skipping placebos) then take a week off. i had no weight gain from it. that's my two-cents! |
