If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it? I noticed on TV and on the website it's around $120. But I found it on Google Shopping for about half that price. I'm a skeptical person when it comes to buying things, so I didn't know if there's something I'm missing.

To be more specific about questions you've all asked, I'm not trying to lower bad cholesterol, just eat less cholesterol. I've looked at my old way of eating and just need to cut back on what's going into the body.

As for the activities after work, they range from regular church meetings to Bible studies to watching the kids while my wife is involved in her evening activities, and a lot of other things that change from week to week. One thing that comes to mind is taking the kids for a walk, pulling them in their wagon.

I really appreciate all the suggestions. I don't have a "yeah, but...." I know one of my biggest problems is saying "no" to some things in order to make my health a priority. I'm not really a people-pleaser, but I do enjoy being involved in several activities. I'm just not a stay-at-home kind of person. I like the idea of weekend football games, and I love disc golf. Thanks again, everyone!

My coworkers are pretty cool about my choices. We have a lady who comes in every morning selling breakfast burritos, and the smell is very enticing. But I usually have an Odwalla Food Bar for breakfast, then some nuts or something mid-morning. I've never gotten any looks or comments. Everyone seems to respect the others' choices.

Two of the things I absolutely LOVE about my wife are her fair skin and freckles. She doesn't tan and it drives her crazy; she hates her white skin. But to me it's absolutely beautiful, one of the things that first attracted me to her. And I have a thing for freckles. I also adore her cute nose, but she thinks the tiny "lip" between the nostrils is odd-looking.

Weight Loss Hypnosis for weight loss? Oct 25 2007

My mom tried hypnosis to lose weight, and the only change she noticed was that she didn't crave cola as much as she did pre-hypnosis. Other than that, she had no success.

My wife's cousin did this for a while and lost about 15-20 lbs. It's related to acupuncture; there is supposedly a pressure point on the ear that suppresses appetite. He had his chiropractor do it. Personally, I think it's psychological, kind of like hypnotic suggestion. Some people can subconsciously conform to an idea if they are convinced it's real.

Hey, brother! This sounds like a great idea, and I'd love to be a part of it. I give Him all the praise and glory for my success so far, and I pray for continued success in reaching and maintaining my goals. I also pray that others might find this forum topic and be encouraged to know God and make Him known.

My daughter  calls a helicopter an "ollycocker." She also sings a song called "The Lord's Army" where instead of saying "ride in the cavalry, shoot the artillery" she says "ride in the carry, shoot de de carry." Super cute.

I was watching "Good Eats" on the Food Network just last night, and Alton Brown was doing a show on lentils. Besides soy, lentils are the best and most complete source of protein in the plant world, and he has several recipes using lentils, including a cake. You can probably find the recipes at www.foodnetwork.com

You know, ratinhat88, Blue Bell Creamery made a Peanut Butter and Jelly Swirl flavor one season, and I was surprised that it wasn't all that great. But, every other flavor Blue Bell makes is absolutely awesome. My personal favorite: Buñuelos, with cinnamon and chunks of pastry throughout. Oh yeah! If I could make my own... hmmm... S'mores, maybe, with chocolate-marshmallow swirls and chunks of Graham cracker.

gfrisbie: Meatloaf is one hearty breakfast; kind of like cold pizza, only better for you... :)

Anyway, didn't do too bad yesterday, even with a trip to the fair. Here was my plan:

B - Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt and All-Bran with Extra Fiber

S - Bear Naked Granola

L - Grilled Chicken Breast, Raw Spinach and Baby Carrots

D - Roasted Turkey Leg, not sure what else; I'll be at the Tri-State Fair

With the fair and everything, I'm shooting for about 2600 calories.

Score: 3

Today's plan:

B - Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt, 1 Kashi GoLean Waffle, 1 banana

S - Bear Naked Vanilla Almond Granola

L - Turkey Sandwich on Whole Grain White Bread, Baked Tostitos and Homemade Salsa

D - Lean Cuisine Frozen Dinner

If I can really stick to this plan, it's only about 1350 calories, which is pretty low for me. I'll shoot for about 1800 total.

Yesterday's plan was:

Breakfast is 1 1/2 cup of All Bran Yogurt Bites, 1 1/2 cup of 2% milk

Midmorning snack is 1 banana

Lunch is a Lean Cuisine frozen dinner and a yogurt cup

Dinner is a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread.

Still shooting for about 2300 calories.

I managed to stay about 700 calories under my goal, so my score is now 2.

Today

B - Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt and All-Bran with Extra Fiber

S - Bear Naked Granola

L - Grilled Chicken Breast, Raw Spinach and Baby Carrots

D - Roasted Turkey Leg, not sure what else; I'll be at the Tri-State Fair

With the fair and everything, I'm shooting for about 2600 calories.

I tried the low-carb thing for a while, but I always felt weird, like something was wrong with my body. And I never felt full; quite the opposite, actually. I ate more than usual. But I hated the way it made me feel, like my body was telling me, "This is not right for you." So I decided not to go back to that way of eating. But I have noticed that I'm eating fewer carbs now that I'm just staying conscious of the choices I make.

So here was my plan yesterday:

Breakfast is 1cup of All Bran with Extra Fiber, 1 cup of 2% milk, and 4 strawberries

Midmorning snack is 1/2 cup of Bear Naked Vanilla Almond Granola

Lunch is grilled chicken breast with raw spinach and baby carrots, one mozzarella string cheese and some Triscuits.

Dinner will either be a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread or a Lean Cuisine frozen dinner.

I'm shooting for about 2300 calories.

Some things happened that totally changed my plan, but I still stayed 500 calories under my planned 2300! Day 1 was a success!

So here's today's plan:

Breakfast is 1 1/2 cup of All Bran Yogurt Bites, 1 1/2 cup of 2% milk

Midmorning snack is 1 banana

Lunch is a Lean Cuisine frozen dinner and a yogurt cup

Dinner is a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread.

Still shooting for about 2300 calories.

You know, my wife always tells me to wait about twenty minutes before getting seconds. Maybe I should be listening to her. :) But I agree with you, treywolf, on the whole "cleaning your plate" thing. My parents always pushed me not to waste food, so now I feel awkward if I don't clean my plate. I'm definitely going to let my wife fix my plates when we're away from home. My eyes are always WAY bigger than my stomach, if you know what I mean.

It's not too late to join, is it? I just found this thread this morning, so I'll put down what I plan on eating the rest of the day.

I read somewhere that a fully functioning digestive system will excrete about 30 minutes to an hour and a half after each meal. Now, whether anyone actually goes that many times a day is a mystery to me. I know I don't.

My run is pretty much all pavement. I run to the nearest park and stop there to do calisthenics. To be honest, right now it's mostly brisk walking with occasional running. I mean, I just started last week after ten years, and I'm more than 100 lbs. overweight. But I plan on getting to the point where I can run good distances without trouble, so I can use any advice on technique, clothing, etc. that you guys and girls have.

I've never been fitted for shoes. Money is kind of an issue right now, so I don't know how much of an option that is. I have a friend who is an avid runner (about 7 miles a day), so I'll talk to him about shoes/arch support and see if he knows of an inexpensive brand or something. And, yeah dewbiez, I'm pretty inexperienced. I just started running last week, and it's the first time since high school (ten years). Thanks for the input.
