| The Lounge | Guess which country has NOT had a single bank failure? | Feb 14 2009 00:53 (UTC) |

U.S. Banks allow $100 from ATM and branch deposits, as well. US Guidlines are local under 5000 all must be available after 2 business days local over 5000 all must be available after 7 business days local under 5000 all must be available after 5 business days non- local local over 5000 all must be available after 11 business days The checks can go through 4 or more clearing houses/banks before funds are verified, and I've seen them return as NSF more than 90 days after they were deposited. Plus, the rate of ATM deposit fraud is surprisingly high. Credit card checks that are deposited can even be rejected up to 6months after they were deposited and the funds utilized.
Of course, if you have good credit and good deposit history with a bank, they will allow you a lot more wiggle room. Except in ATMs...because people suck.
And there are honest American lenders, by the way...I was a lender and was very honest with my clients, as were many other people I know in the field. There were many times when I told people that it was not a good idea to take out all of their equity, or buy a house when the payments were more than their debt toincome would allow them to afford. There are also a lot of people that like to live beyond their means, and/or have an idealized dream house and are unwilling to compromise. Not to say that there arent greedy dishonest brokers out there, but there are also greedy debtors that make bad decisions no matter what advice they receive. |

Some friends convinced me that eating watermelon seeds would make a watermelon grow in my belly, and that people have been known to die from watermelons bursting out of their stomachs. I really freaked out the first time I accidentally swallowed a watermelon seed. me too!!! My Dad had a hard beer belly (that totally looked like he could have been smuggling a small melon) but he was muscle-y everywhere else and he told me it was because he had eaten a watermelon seed and it grew in his bellly. I freaked out because someone had told me about them bursting through your stomache and I thought my dad was going to die. Another one... must preface this with a huge my brother is a jerk. We werent allowed to eat prok growing up, cuz my mom is jewish and we were raised that way as well, but we spent a few months a year at my dad's house and he is christian so he does eat pork. ok, well one day my dad bought vienna sausages and i had never seen them before. so i ate one. then my brother came over and told me what they were made of...penises. Yup, my 3 years older brother told me that they made girls by cutting off their penises and they didnt know what to do with all of the extra penises in the world, so they sold them. He told me if i ate them my penis would grow back and i would be a boy. I totally believed him and cried for days because i didnt want to be a boy. |

@ncx... misses is a sizing group as are womens's/plus, junior's and petites. Generally misses sizes are more relaxed than juniors and are geared more towards woman 35 and up. You missed my point regarding "real" sizes...there are none. There will always be differences amongst sizes due to fit models. |

Original Post by ncxcrnnr: First of all, Lane Bryant is a plus size store..they start at a real size 12. Second, chicos is a store for misses clothes and their ads stress that they are clothes that are elegant and comfortable...their size 0 is a real size 4. Size depends on the store's fit model, and all stores have differently shaped fit models, so there isnt as much standardization as you would think. Perhaps you should be a little more knowledgeable about the subject matter before you start offering opinions... |

It sounds like your issue may be more specifically with people who wag their fingers at others in bars, not with people who simply don't want to drink there. And I agree, if someone has a problem with seeing others drink, then don't go to a place where it's going to occur just for the purpose of lecturing. But I don't think everyone who sets foot in a bar should be required to order alcohol. Thank you!!! Wag fingers, make comments, roll eyes...yeah that's exactly my problem. My point is/was if you have a problem with seeing it, or feel it necessary to comment on why people need to drink to have fun...perhaps a bar isnt the place for you to be, regardless of whether there are a lot of alternatives. My point wasnt that you have to drink to be in there in the first place. I believe I stated that people shouldnt be pressured to drink. Although, i do not like to do to bars unless I plan on drinking or seeing a band play. |

I dont want kids, but I'm totally down for a stay at home husband. Why not? As long as we are financially stable, it doesnt really matter. Plus, I would love to come home to a warm meal and the man that loves me ready to hear all about my day...my crock pot isn't very talkative. |

Original Post by nomoreexcuses: I understand..I grew up in Napa, in and my options were Denny's, Nation's (diner that makes the BEST grilled cheese in the world), fast food or bars. If I wasn't drinking I usually chose Nation's. I also spent 1/2 my year in Panama City Fl which had a pop of about 2200 people, and my choices were bars, fast food, or the waffle house...again, if i wasnt drinking i didnt pick the bars. There are options...not always great ones, but options none the less. And again, I didnt say that the person that made the comment was a bad person, or they shouldnt have thought that. I merely stated that people go to bars expressly TO DRINK, and that I dont like people that dont drink in bars and judge others for doing so...vocally. |

Don't get me wrong...I don't think anyone should pressure someone else to drink, or that you need it to have fun. I just get so tired of seeing people in bars that aren't drinking, but who judge people that are and make assumptions about them. I just don't get why you would hang out in a place that is designated for drinking, if you dont plan on doing so. It's like the old ladies that stand next to ash trays and make a big to do about smokers...you dont like it? Go somewhere else. If you live in a small town and its late and you're hungry, I'm sure there is a Denny's or other diner that is still open...you dont need to hang out/eat in a bar. I grew up in an extremely small town (Napa, CA ) and there are always other options. Bar food is gross anyway. |

Original Post by dirktwolf: lol that is one of my main rants today, except substitute rockabilly for goth. -people responding with "blessed" when i ask them how they're doing. f%ck you!! -my former roommate that was supposed to be one of my best friends moved out in june and decided that she was going to not talk to me ever again..fine..i'm not butt sore about it, as she kinda was a pick up friend anyway (she came with my other former best friend when we started hanging out). she was a crazy person anyway and drank almost every night which made her more than a little paranoid, plus she was in love with our mutual friend (who happened to be gay) and was always trying to sabatoge our relationship. again, not too sorry to see her go. Buuuuuutttt....I just heard from my friend Keri that she sent her a christmas greeting and told her how much she misses her....what the f%ck? YOU NEVER LIKED KERI! why else would you send her a message, unless you wanted me to know? uuugghhh!

::hugs:: I can only imagine how terrible you feel. I can say that my best friend's dad was in a similar situation. He ended up talking to her mom a little before her 17th birthday and decided to wait until she turned 18 to tell her and her sister what was going on. They are still absolute best friends to this day...10 years later. I even see them sometimes in the Castro together with their boyfriends. I think the key is talking to her in a way that lets her know that despite the fact that you have loved and been with her for such a very long time, you dont think that it's fair to either of you to keep it from her. You should both have the opportunity to go out and be with people that are going to be just as in love with you are as you are with them. |
