funny you say that. I've never been a physical person, I just fell in love with running last two years, but actually I'm more in the academics part, not quantum physis academic, but right now, quantum physics looks easier than the half-marathon. Everybody keeps saying is JUST HALF-marathon, it looks a pretty good distance to me. Thanks to both of you anyway, hope I 'll get more ideas for the eating. |

it's true it was not the healthiest meal/snack/whatever. But to me, there is a kind of happiness of taking the day-off an eating sweets and junk. As long as, is ONE day and not everyday, I think is even healthy to treat yourself once in a while. Tomorrow will be a new day, if you feel really bad, have a salad and yogurt with some fruit the rest of the day, and lots of water. If don't enjoy your day-off.

Original Post by smoofinator: She did put a post about the semantics and also apologize for using the word meal in the original post. Thanks for the post, I love it. No only because I got a lot of ideas for things to eat, but also because it was pretty funny how some people got concern thinking you want 100 cal "meals". I do eat low cal meals though, because I eat 10,000 times a day (just for the record it's a joke, I don't eat 10,000 times). Anyway, the best are home made vegetable soups, most of them will be less 100 cal. I also treat myself with those chocolate pudding which some of them are 60 cal. |

thank you all for your replies. I read about the pronation and I think I don't do it. I watched some videos, and ask my husband to watch me, and he thinks I don't pronate. Also I bought my shoes 1/2 size larger. I check my posture in the shadow and try not to bend over, and also try that my feet lands completely. Probably I am doing something wrong, at the end what do I know. Probably you are right and it is my shoes, I will try the running shoe store. As I said it is not neccessarilly pain, it is just I feel them all the time in a funny way, that doesn't feel normal. But again, it is the first time in my life I run regularly so I don't know what normal is. In 2007 I didn't feel anything but I only ran once a week and a very slow pace, the other days I did Pilates. I have two more questions:

where I can have my shoes evaluated? I bought both on them in a Reebok store, and none of the guys who worked there looked like knew too much. I asked and they said, they have to feel confortable, and they do. |

| Fitness | I think I don't know how to use my new pedometer | Sep 24 2008 19:09 (UTC) |

thanks! So what should I use the pedometer for? I though it was for controlling calories burned. How do I know if it set for full walking strides? The manual said count 10 steps (toe to toe), measure the distance in inches, divides by the number of steps (10), and set that number as your stride. It was weird though, since I have small feet, so my stride was 11, but the minimum stride you can set is 12. So that is the number I set. I didn't understand what is a stride anyway. hope you can help me. Sorry if they are dumb questions, but I never had one of these. |

I also understand how you feel. Anyway don't ever go below 1200 cal. I'd suggest you ask to someone you really trust, I mean someone that will tell you the true, no matter what. Don't ask your boyfriend/husband/partner, because they always think they will be in trouble if they say you look a little overweight, so they always say you look fine. Probably you think you look fatter than you are. That happens to me (even though I do need to loose some weight) Good luck! |

thanks all for your responses, and all makes sense. So why am I not losing weight?. I though it was because I ate differentlevery day. I have a calorie deficit of 400-500 calories everyday (except one or two weekends that I relaxed), however I was 125 pound in january and 3 months after I am still 125 |

I am 5'2'', 125 lb, female. Exercise, mmmmm. I do my best. I would say once a week, one hour, not too much. I walk a lot during the day though. I won't consider myself sedentary, maybe light activity. I would love to reach 112 pounds, I know is almost the limit, but I always look a little bit heavier that I really am. |

Also, if you are not conusming 1200 calories most of the days, wich is the minimum amount of calories an adult HAVE to consume only to function, probably, you are entering in starvation mode, which I am not an expert but I think is when your body gets use to function with less calories so you don't burn so many calories, so it is harder to lose weight. Read the info in this site, and go to the Tools tab to calculate how much you should eat and how much you are burning. Believe me, your weight goal won't be achieved if you are not healthy, you have to eat what your body needs. |

| I know, not proud, but I didn't have another option.
Anyway, yesterday I treated myself as a reward and I ate 1900 cal, but today I will go back to a healthy life, at least try with the holidays.
But...I shouldn't have gained weight, should I. |

just start eating more. the longer you wait the worse. I think you don't have to let your calorie deficit to be more than 800 each day(calories burn minus calorie intake). otherwise, you will get in starvation mode, and as soon as you start eating again you will gain weight faster.

what if I have one every day. I dont have any issue with blood sugar. Can I save 20 calories for one daily toffee if I am still in a weighting loss plan, assuming that the rest of the 1180 will be healthy: still 15-20% fat, 20-25% protein and rest carbs, that is kind of healthy right? Sorry to be so obsessive with this, the worst part of my diet is always that I have to give up my sweets, I think it would be easier if I can have at least this 20 cal of pure sugar, that it is not fruit. I know fruits have a lot of sugar and are healthier and do a lot for me, but they are not the same, and I am already consuming fruits. |

well , I am in the same place. I still have a lot of snacks and my dinner to go, all of them very healthy I think. An apple, a whole wheat slice fo bread with fat free cotage cheese, my vegetable soup, my light yogurt and another apple, my cheerios, bla bla bla. But I am still low in calorie intake, so I am between 3 buttermilk toffees that I love, or another apple that will be my 3rd of the day, or any healthy fruit. I think I can have my toffees, since with all my snacks I won't be hungry, but I am never sure if this will mess up my diet plan, even though I am still within my calories allowed. Does you body knows that your calories come from healthy or bad food? do you still lose weight |

Original Post by mollymouser: Thanks everybody for your responses. Don't worry, i'm not planning to drink my 2 lt of water on sodas, in fact I should consume 1 or 2 cans at most per week. In any case, mollymouser got my attention. How bad are the artificial sweeteners. I really try no to consume sugar especially in my liquids. I usually drink my coffee with 1.5 packages of splenda (everyday). And ocassionaly I have a second cup of coffe of sweet tea, but with splenda too. is this bad???? If I want to add sugar to my fruit or my juices, I also use splenda. Ok too much useles information. The point is I consume everyday about 2 little package of splenda. Should I quit. I realy don't want to use granulated or even brown sugar. I think I have it in my fruits and sometimes when I treat myself in my favorites sweets, so it is not I don't consume at all. |

what does ocd stand for? I don't drink it because I'm thirsty, I drink it because I have to drink a lot of water to lose weight and not to eat other stuffs. But like a I have it next to my computer I drink it constantly and sometimes I think I drink too fast, and of course I go to the bathroom 50,000 times a day. |

Thanks everyone for your responses. You were right, I actually lost the pounds I saw in the scale on sunday, still one up, but I think it will go away by the end of the week. Probably, I overeacted, sorry I didn't jump off the wagon, still in the fight, still 10 pounds to go! Do you know if there is a limit of water you should drink. Sometimes, I found myself drinking almost three liters of water by 2 pm, and I think I drink it too fast. Is this bad? I heard water can make you stomach bigger if you drink too much and/or too fast. |

| Weight Loss | What are your thoughts on Frame Size | Oct 22 2007 19:21 (UTC) |

Measure my frame by measuring my wrist with my fingers, I am a large frame, but my hands are ridiculous small. Measuring by the elbow method, I am a medium, and measuring by the website above I am small, LOL. Anyway, I calculate my calories intake for mantaining and for losing weight with the three frames, and nothing change, the same amount of calories for both cases... So my question is why it is important to know your body frame? |

totally got it!!! Thanks! But.... unfortunately, I think I was in starvation mode. Since for the last two months I've been exercising 4 times a week and on those days I ate only 1200 cal. So, now I will eat more the days I work out, but should I do something else to fix what I did for the last two months???? I am freaking out, because this dieting process has to be temporal for me. I don't want my metabolism gets used to eat only 1200 cal. Once I reach my weight goal, I should be eating 1700 cal, will I gain weight since I was in starvation mode?????? |

I really appreciate all the people who responded; however I think I am kind of dumb, because I am still very confused. First of all, I didn't get about the "Account Home" part; but I would love to understand what that means. At this moment Oct 17 11:18 pm, I ate 1210 cal and I am done with the eating for today. And my burn meter says 1761 cal (even though I didn't work out today and I didn't put anything in my log activity). Is this healthy??? I really need to know if I am in starvation mode if I am eating only 1200 calories at day everyday, INCLUDING the days I work out, and in my normal life, I think I am between a light activity and a moderate activity person. Help!!!!!!!!!!!! |

what I would like to know is if it is still healthy to eat ONLY 1200 calories, including the days I work out. That is what I've doing for two months and it has been working, but I am not sure how healthy it is. I eat everyday 1200 calories whether I work out or not, most of the day healthy foods. For example yesterday I ate 1236 cal, I did aerobics and pilates for one hour, which according to the activity log, I burned 317 cal. Is this healthy????? I don't want to enter in starvation mode, because I know people gain weight faster when they start to eating again the regular amount of calories. Help! |

| The days I work out I try to eat less before I exercise, so i have more calories to spend after exercising, so I eat more after exercising, but at the end of the day, I ate only 1200 cal approx, maybe a little more 1240-1260 | |||
| Weight Loss | is it OK to eat most of the calories at night? | Oct 17 2007 00:09 (UTC) |

ok, somehow I have a clearer picture and at the same time I'm kind of confuse. I will definitely add more protein, with the almonds, lentils, cottage cheese, etc, no problem on that. However, I am confused on identifying foods high in protein, when I add almond to my log, they show 75% of fat approx, and like 20% protein in the breakdown pie. Lentil are more carbs that protein in its breakdown pie, the same with milk and eggs and beans. So can I assume that if a product has at least 20% of protein is high in it???? Sorry if this is a stupid question. If I mix my fat free yogurt with 1/2 cup of fat free milk, would it be healthy and enough protein to have that for dinner, I like my dinner to be more sweet than salty; however if it is not healthy let me know and I will go with the cheese and the tuna. How much calories I should add the days I work out?? I usually do 40 min of fat burning and 20 minutes of toning (pilates). How bad is if I don't do it, meaning I stil consume only 1200 calories until I reach my weight goal, it is I m doing so well in losing weight for the first time in my whole life, that I want to reach my weight goal and then I will eat more and probably I'll torture all of you with questions in "Mantain weight forum" |
