When I was dieting I was eating between 1500-1700 calories...and was breastfeeding and steadily losing weight (about 1-1.5lbs per week). Now I am upwards of 1700-2000 (hence why I am not losing weight). A few weeks ago I was eating in the 1500-1700 range, my weight would drop down to 195-196...and then just plummet back up to 200lbs. And for the last 2 weeks...I haven't been trying to lose because I am so frustrated and tired...just trying not to gain. (this weight yo-yo has been happening since the beginning of October. I am 5'9" and currently 200lbs. Large bone structure. I don't think I have time to excersize. When it was nice out (I live in Michigan) I would take the kids out for a walk at night. But now its cold and dark...and I work at a desk job from 5:30am until 5:30pm....I have to pick the kids up by 6pm...and then I have them by myself generally until 7pm or later, depending on my DH's schedule. I get up at 4am to leave for work. |

| Weight Loss | Anyone Taking the ALLI diet pill??? I hav questions...PLEZ HELP | Oct 25 2007 18:52 (UTC) |

The multi-vitamin is to replace the nutrients you are not getting since your intestines are not processing the fat in your diet anymore. Honestly...if you are excersising a lot..eating a sensible amount of calories...and taking the Alli pill...I wouldn't be surprised if your body is in starvation mode...which is why you aren't losing weight fast. The calorie counting along with exercise will keep you out of starvation mode...but with the alli pill you are probably not absorbing a good majority of the calories you are eating. Btw - I think the alli pill only improves weight loss by like 1/2 lb a week..which is nothing. |

The problem with the slim fast diet ...is you may lose weight but sooo many people gain it back once they stop because they never learned portion control. I think I would use it for short term weigh loss...if you wanted just to lose a bunch of weight fast...but honestly after losing weight on and off for 4 years I realize now...short quick weight loss is the WORST option. Slow and steady and lifestyle changes are really what is needed. Btw - the optima shakes have splenda in them. (sucralose) |

Lets see...Breastmilk is specifically MADE for humans...and it contains lactose. So I am betting 90% of the world is lactose intolerant..is one of the statistics that 85% of the worlds statistics are made on the spot? Haha. Seriously. Many milk manufacturers no longer use the RBST hormone that is used for growth in their milk...even generic brands are rBST free now. Besides...the hormone is not used to make a cow bigger..its used to increase their milk supply. I honestly think that book was two women looking to make a profit based on a book for shock value. |

| ddugan - I really don't have time. I get up at 4am..commute 3 hours a day...get home at 6pm and then have kids to tend to in 2 hours...feed them , bath them...as well as do laundry and prepare for the next day. I really wish I had time to exercise...but I just don't. If I go for a walk I basically don't get somehting else done. It stinks...but I will just have to live with only losing weight through diet for now. I am sure from 6pm-8pm I burn a lot of calories running around doing things at home..but its not enough to get my heartrate up to a cardio level. | |||

| It will just be water weight. What is your height and age? I mean even at 5'9" and 26 years old...I would have to eat more than 2000 to gain true weight, and I have a very sedetary lifestyle (I sit for 12 hours at work during the day) | |||

| I was 242lbs and I am 5'9". I also was losing my baby weight. I have a 3 month old now. I basically walked my first 30lbs off...then I came to this site at 206lbs and in 4 weeks I have lost 10lbs! I was breastfeeding so I was trying to stick to a 300-400 calorie deficit.. However not that I have stopped I am trying for a 500-700 caloried deficit...so I eat now between 1300-1500 calories. I rarely excersize...and if I do its just a short walk, I just don't have time to go for walks with working fulltime and 2 kids. | |||

I am having a test this afternoon done for seafood allergies. Honestly if you get a rash from pizza or breads...you could very well have celiac disease...and thasts something you would want to get checked out. Its a simple blood test generally...then they do another test if your blood test winds up being positive. You could also just go on a gluten free diet and see if your symptoms improve...as well as lose weight. |

| Weight Loss | Weight loss question---2 pounds a week... | Oct 15 2007 15:04 (UTC) |
|
How long ago did you start calorie count? I say this because I started right around the same weight as you did...I was about 210 when I started and the first week or two I saw a little bit of weight loss...like 1pound...then the third week my body dropped 3 pounds....then it did that same cycle again. It seems that I don't just lose a steady amount...infact some weeks I stay the same weight...then it just dropps off the next week. So I would stick with what you are doing for 3-4 weeks...then evaluate and try dropping calories (as long as you don't up your exersize) and I would only adjust calories in 100 calorie increments...and try them out for 3 weeks...then reevaluate. You have a lot of time to lose the weight. Don't be too overly ambitious about it or you may wind up losing the weight by putting your body into starvation mode...and you will lose weight for some while but it will be in an unhealthy way..and easy to put back on. The goal is lifelong weight loss...not just for your particular event. |

| Weight Loss | The No-Binging Challenge!!! | Oct 12 2007 12:54 (UTC) |

Hi! I have been MIA for awhile. I have managed to stay binge free since I was on last!! Yeah!!! However...I can feel myself starting to fall into a binge mode. I haven't been strict on dieting (which has helped not binging)....however I am getting more strict now, I am tired, stressed and getting sick...which means I am at a higher risk for binging. I tend to binge more often when I am worn out feeling. I am hoping I can make it through this weekend alright. |

You need to call and ask. It is very dangerous to get pregnant on prednisone. Lol...I had to take prednisone for a poison ivy outbreak too, it was spreading even though I was no longer having contact with the plant 4 weeks later...so they put my on prednisone for 1.5 months. Honestly I think I avoided sex at all during that time. Just because of the risks to a pregnancy associated with predinsone. |

I would suggest first to get refitted for a bra, your breast size changes every 6 months. I am a mother of two now at 26. However ...my bbs are now a 36I...yes I...eek. However all I can find is 38Hs so they don't fit right but it will do and it doesn't break the bank too much (I order them online through lane bryant (btw - check them out online they carry a nice array of sizes and they run sales often where its buy one get one for $1)). I didn't nurse my first...and was just a DDD after that pregnancy...however my second pregnancy I blew up...I was beyond a 38H...I just kept wearing that size though even though I was falling out because I couldn't find anything bigger for a good price. I have been nursing my second one though now and I am back down to a nice 36I (in a 38H bra though)...I am hoping when I am done nursing that I will be down to an F, or G at least. I think I will be extremely lucky if I ever get back down to a DDD. Consider yourself lucky to be able to shop at Victoria Secret still!! I wish I could again. |

Well I am still binge free...so its been like a week and half now!! I am sooo happy. Even today I wanted chocolate so I bought some (its usually a binge trigger for me) and I ate the two small bars and that was it. And it was figured into my calories for today. Maybe I have finally broken they cycle...however I am nervous and keep waiting for a trigger to set me off. I think it has helped me logging food, and this no-binge challenge has helped me be more aware of triggers and try and find alternative means of dealing with them..or shutting them down early. |

I am 5'9"-10 and 199lbs and wear a size 16 pants, size 14 or L shirts. I just had a baby in June though...so things are still tightening up. I would say even at this same weight by Christmas I will be back in 14s. Even at 150lbs I was in size 10-12s. A lot has to do with your hip structure. |

No that goal is not obtainable. 150 is an ideal weight for someone who is 5'9"...and to top it off you are 18 and still in your growing years. Do your fingers touch when you you wrap them around your wrist? |

I am getting a tummy tuck eventually once we are done having kids...but its to get rid of the extra skin. once down to my goal weight I am hoping it will be smaller even if I do still have to tuck it into my pants. If you are not down to your ideal weight...then I wouldn't consider doing either a tummy tuck or liposuction. |

| Health & Support | fruit detox | Oct 02 2007 14:53 (UTC) |

| You are not going to detox then...what you are going to do is go an extremely restrictive diet...that will lead into your next binge. Stop the cycle. Stop that relationship with food. Just eat normally...and a reasonable amount. When you stop restricting...you will eventually stop binging. | |||

I am a huge iced coffee drinker. I make decaf chocolate coffee (Millstone Brand) and then keep it in the refridgerator. So in the morning I just pour in some milk in a glass and then pour the coffee in over ice. Its SOOO good. SO So good...and no sugar added...just milk and coffee. |

Thats the bueaty of calorie count...it doesn't eliminate food groups...or tell you can't have certain foods. You can eat ALL the food in your cupboards...you just have to spread it out. Everything in moderation is fine. I personally have a hard time eating pasta as it doesn't make me feel full and carries a lot of calories...so I will make some and divide it up into indivual portion sizes that I know the exact calorie content of. It helps me learn to see portion sizes too. |

| Weight Loss | fruit is the worst snack | Oct 01 2007 17:15 (UTC) |

| Not everyone eats fruit with meals though. So eating fruit for a snack when you don't eat fruit during meals is perfectly fine. The fiber in most fruits is very filling, as well as high in nutrients. Personally I eat meat, grains, and veggies for meals. Then fruits are my snacks. As long as you are meeting your daily requirements for calories, veggies, protein, and fruit...etc it really doesn't matter when you eat it. And its a much better option than many things...including diet coke. | |||

Sounds like you are eating too little. You need to have a minimum of 1200 calories...but that depends on your height and weight if you need more. What is your age, height and weight? |

I hate to tell you but...drinking ...and eating unhealtily will cause you to gain the freshmen 15...you are basically going to put your body into starvation mode...then load it up with booze...you will gain weight in that scenario. How about you eat light and healthy all week...then don't binge on the weekend. Heck I ate 1200-1400 calories all week...then drank 10 drinks on Saturday at a wedding reception...and today I am right back to the same weight I was on Friday. Alchohol will make you bloat a little bit for 1-2 days...but after that if you eat healthy your weight will be the same. There is no need to diet just for drinking. |

Everytime I tried to quit diet coke I gained weight. I don't know why but I always did. Stick with it...don't go back to it. After you get through that inital weight gain...and within a month I was having less cravings, eating less sweets...I honestly think the diet coke made my appetite and cravings worse, even though i thought it was helping. When I first quit I switched to ice tea for awhile. |

I was at 242 when I started. I just broke 200 this morning!! So I guess I shouldn't really join your club but I wanted to say You Can Do It!!! My end goal is 155, I have a large frame also...honestly though I may stop at 160 because 150's is very thin for me. |

Hi everybody! I have been swamped at work! But I haven't binged since last week sometime, I believe Thursday!! I am almost at 7 days I am sure!!! Woohoo!!! I haven't been doing great eating...to be honest I am stressed out so I am not watching my calories as much but I am under my 2000 BMR so I am still losing weight. Heck I even stopped and bought a candy bar yesterday and it didn't make me binge!!! Normally something like that is a trigger. |

| Weight Loss | I need some advice on how to get the pounds to come off. | Sep 26 2007 16:20 (UTC) |
17 |
Opps...now I am really confusing you. Okay I didn't take in your lifestyle...that would put you up to 2150 a day...in order to lose 1.5 lbs a week...subtract 500 from that. So 1600 is what you should be eating a day. The 2150 number is if you do NOT want to lose weight...so you have to eat less than that. And really 4lbs in 3 weeks is pretty good. Thats about right. You should lose weight at 1-2lbs per week. |

Well your BMR is right around...so basically you are eating at exactly what you are using calorie-wise. You need to drop your calorie intake down lower. If you want to lose 1.5 lbs a week you need to drop your intake 500 calories which would be 1300 a day. In other words, you are eating too many calories. Drop it down further. |
