| hey! great idea! i'm a junior at harvard. classes start tomorrow and hopefully it's not too much stress to start a new diet/workout plan at the same time. i'm 5'6'' and 130. i've been as high as 140 and and as low as 115, and my goal is to get to 115-125, fit into my size 2-4 clothes without looking like a skank ho, and feel unfat. the hardest thing for me is consistency, especially while switching from school to home (no gym and lots of 'sweetie you don't like my cookies?") back to school (no time and lots of social events centered around food); sports (lightweight crew skinniness and rugby buffness); partying and studying, etc. does anyone else have issues with this? i need some buddies in the same situation. feels like everyone here calculates gpas and lsats but never steps on a scale :P |

| this is an amazing and constructive idea; thank you azndude! i'm in! i'm on a meal plan at school, so it's hard to figure out what to post for the next day before i know what's in the cafeteria. but i at least wanted to hold myself accountable by sending it out into cyberspace that i'm going to be at 1600 (1400-1800) calories a day with healthy meals/snacks 3-5 times a day and good workouts at least 5 times a week until i weigh less than 125, wear a size 2-4, and most importantly am comfortable with my own body and can go about the day without focussing on the disgusting layer of fat on my tummy and thighs. anyone want to add an extra level of accountability by guaranteeing that we'll read each other's posts and reply with encouragement and such? i'm kind of afraid no one is going to read my posts and i'll lose the feeling of external validation and go back to feeling out of control. help! |

| I don't think cavities are the main issue as long as you're brushing and flossing regularly (preferably right after eating sugary foods). With bulimia the problem is the enamel wearing away from the stomach acid... I'm sure you've seen the icky pictures of lifetime bulimics with irregular, worn-away teeth. It all depends on how frequently you purge... but the good news is that two years probably won't destroy your teeth. For trying to recover from bulimia, it's best to try to limit the caloric intake of your binges (and up the calories in your regular diet), but for the teeth it's best to focus on purging less frequently. I also have an eating disorder (usually more like anorexia, but I experimented with purging for almost a year) but hopefully I've stopped before I do any serious long-term damage, and you can too. I wish you all the luck in the world. | |||
