Motivation Why hasn't anyone noticed? Mar 18 2008

I'm agreeing here with what it sounds like most people have said. . . until I lost around 30 pounds not many people I see every day noticed. . . but I ran into someone who hadn't seen me since before I started losing and they asked "Where'd the rest of you go?".

Sorry you aren't getting the encouragement you feel you need.

I think you are doing a great job! Just remember, you're doing this for a healthier you, not for them!!!

good luck!

All I seem to hear lately about overweight Americans is the fact that our portion sizes are so large. We don't even notice anymore. That was one of the first things I tackled and I think just watching your portion sizes will help tremendously!

Good luck Christi. . . you are doing a great job!

Christi - I used to be really, REALLY bad about night time eating. (like an ENTIRE bag of popcorn EVERY night around 10pm) It's gotten better now that I'm eating better foods and working out. I'm wondering if your calorie intake is low. Also, what are you eating for dinner?

Another suggestion, have you tried just 8oz of the milk? I know it helps curb my appetite when I'm hungry.

Christ-I'm not much help. I've always drank my coffee completely black. Sorry. . .

Okay, question for any guru's of food out there (including moderators who might see this). So I keep hearing and reading that the whole wheat pasta and breads are way better and that I should switch from the white flour products. Well while I was in the grocery store today I did label comparisons of Calorie, Sodium, and Carbs for the normal items I would eat and then the whole weat products. The difference was minimal.

So, my question I guess is. . . if I'm monitoring my portions well, is there any other reason I should be fighting with my family to get them to eat the whole wheat products for minimal benefit?

Thanks Kirsten. I've been using the heat as an excuse not to walk. It's difficulte to get motivated to go outside when it's 106. Now that it is cooling down, I hope to get motivated more.

Kirsten, glad you got some exercise in, even if it was cleaning. I have to say the CC is helping me too with counting calories burned on things I never thought about. I have to say, I'm also envious of all you whose weather is below 70. It's still in the 90's here.

Wow, thank you guys so much for the support. I too am enjoying this group, even more than I anticipated. I think we are all doing well. I did better for lunch today and had tuna (low sodium with NO MAYO) and 1 c of broccoli. I'm drinking my water right now and am promising myself that I'll walk when I get home today. Thanks again, I hope everyone has a great day!

Okay, another bad day here. I didn't get to walk or exercise today plus I didn't eat breakfast and ended up going WAY over on calories. . . oh well maybe Sarah won't be too harsh on me. Tomorrow's another day.

Sarah - 2kc had some questions posted on the scs flybabie thread. Can you look and see if you know the answers?

Just for the record. . . 20 minutes of pilates only burns 91 calories which is the same as cleaning house for 30 minutes. . . I'm bummed.

2kc . . . glad you found us. I went to the drug store today to weigh and i'm down 4 lbs but I know most of that is from my faulty scale at home. Either way it's nice to see a little bit of progress. Yesterday was a BAD day for me.  I got an "F" and went over my limit. I've got to learn how to maintain and trim my portions when I'm in a meeting situation where I have no choices on my food.

Anyway, enough about me. How does everyone else feel? I know Marnie had a great day yesterday.

I'm so glad everyone is finding their way over. THanks again to Sarah for putting us all on to this. The moderator e-mailed me to say that we will probably have our little forum moved to another category. So I'll try and let you all know as soon as I find out where we'll be landing.
