Weight Loss Over 40, need to lose over 50 and am getting married Dec 08 2008

Thanks all for the congrats. I'm 42 and didn't think this was a possibility for me. I gave away all my baby stuff several years ago! It's been 10 years since I was pregnant last time.  I'm betting I'll lose a bit of weight at first as I feel so sick and unable to eat much. I plan to check with my doctor about continuing the couch to 5k program. I jog really slow. But, I've been so tired lately. I haven't been to my doctor yet and I'm not sure if everything is good to go-- so we'll see. I'll be okay either way.

So-- it looks like I may not be losing those 50 plus pounds before my wedding after all. I just found out that I'm pregnant! I'm a bit shell shocked....

Why not wait a bit? You could spend some time and carefully consider a design and research safe places and good artists to have it done. Maybe you could make it a treat for yourself after you lose your first so many pounds or something like that.

I always thought about getting one too, but could never decide on anything that I wanted to permanently display on my body. Keep in mind too, that if you plan to have an office job, you may want to place the tatoo somewhere it won't show under a suit.

Woa.... she is only asking about being in love... not about marriage, kids and the whole fireworks!

Define "real love". I think love happens in many different ways. Romantic love can last from a brief moment to a lifetime and mean a whole lot of different things. Being in love is not reason enough to get married! It is only a  part of the whole picture.

As others have said, you will change over the years. Simply enjoy being in love!

I haven't stepped on the scale this morning. I'm sure it's really bad! There was no calorie counting yesterday.

I cooked the big meal and it turned out pretty well! The turkey was moist and everyone seemed to have a really good time.

The Lounge What constitutes as a lie? Nov 18 2008

Not all lies are created equal! In general I advocate honesty, but there are times when the better part of valour and kindness prevails. For instance, I'm not hugely concerned when my children lie to me about a chore -- that's not a big deal. What is a big deal is lying about things that really hurt someone else or are intended to hurt someone else or I know will hurt the individual lying about whatever it is they are lying about. It's all about the scale of the thing-- Lying about oh, say, finding weapons of mass destruction as opposed to lying about having sex with an intern.

At least I've been sticking with my work out routine with the treadmill and have plans to add weight lifting starting on Saturday.

Oh that's funny. I get a kick out of menus at Chinese restaurants but I'd be irritated if it were a daily thing at work! There was a lot of funny stuff during the Olympics. I'll have to see if I can find some links to sign translations gone wrong...

I use a web-based program at work. It was written by a man native to China. On the main web page we have a "Receving Log" and one of the receiving guys is a native spanish speaker and he issues "creates" if a big unit comes in a box instead of in a crate.

Same web-based program. If a unit comes back to be repaired more than once the system recognizes the serial number and then calls it a "boomberang" unit.

...a lot of CC users do not speak english as a first language and/or have access to the education that you did.

I can usually tell if it's an English as a second language deal. That bothers me a lot less than when native speakers mess up. I went to a public school-- most everyone in the US has access to that same level of education. College is a different matter of course-- but I'm not talking rocket science here.

Lmao..what do you expect? Since this isn't a letter of recommendation or what ever and just an on line forum people tend not to care so much about how they type or present their words. :P

But the problem as I see it, is that people get so used to saying things the wrong way that when it comes time to be formal, they often forget how to do it right. At my office, I can't tell you how many times we've decided to not go with a service of some sort because of this very lack of attention to detail. The particular example cited in this thread talks about that very thing-- people misuse the word "loose" so much that it's hard to tell if they actually know the right version. Also, who knows who might eventually be reading your posts at some future date? Now this is my personal opinion and I fully expect a lashback, but I think when folks don't even give a minimal effort to grammar and spelling (now I'm not talking about the occasional typo), it appears as though they lack intelligence-- whether or not that is actually true.

Finally, so what if this is a repeat thread? It's obviously an issue that bothers a lot of people. If you're not interested in this topic, then why post?
