Well, heck, I'll join in. Nothing to lose but the weight! My name is Jenn, I'm 37, and I have steadily gained weight since an accident that left me in a wheelchair for 6 months. I'm healed now and have been for a while, but I can't seem to stop gaining. I work with rock bands so image is fairly important. Thus far I've carried my weight well, being 6' tall and extremely well-proportioned, but now it's starting to affect my health so I gotta get on the ball. I've never been able to stick to a diet for more than a couple of weeks. I just don't have the motivation, since I still look fine to many people (or at least they tell me I do!). I usually eat because I am bored, tired or hungover. Food is instant, cheap, easy gratification for an excitement junkie. I hate to exercise, but I'm getting used to it, finally. The few days I have been on this most recent effort have been pretty hard, and I suspect I'll need help!
I think my biggest problems are: eating at work, where I am usually eating mindlessly to keep the job from killing me; eating at home, where I watch too much TV and eat whatever my boyfriend eats (which is never good); and drinking - not only are there too many calories in alcohol and it inhibits weight loss in general, but the next day I feel so bad that I eat a lot of bad stuff to try and feel better. Unfortunately being in bars is part of my job and my lifestyle, so it's the hardest thing to deal with. I was working out early in the morning, getting up at 6 to get there and do it before work, but with my nighttime lifestyle that doesn't usually work too well. I would love to go after work but that is when the gym is crowded and it's a pain to be in front of other people like I am now. But I'm gonna try this week going after work and forcing myself to do all the things I need to be doing, so wish me luck. -jenn
