Had a bad bad weekend, went to a party (on an empty stomach!! not good) and went crazy, I would have eaten the plastic plates too if they were edible, hehe. I didn't lose any weight this week but luckily I haven't gained any, so I'm still at 136lbs!!! I'll write down my measurements tomorrow when my stomach has deflated.

I'm 136lbs (down a lb...finally)!! I'm doing my measurements every other week, so next week I'll put them down.

Croatia are quite a good team. I'm routing for France (who didn't drew today!!! silly buggers) and Netherlands (who won!!!!)

I did a 2 hour session at the gym today and I feel great, nothing like endorphins to put you in a good mood.

Now if only I could stop eating so much junk food particularly at weekends I would probably do better in the weight loss department.

Today hasn't exactly been a good day for me in terms of food. I have been pretty good all week, eating lots of fruits and vegetables, making my own lunch instead of buying it and also went to the gym 4 times but today I went out to eat (Pizza hut) and had an individual pizza, garlic bread and shared a cookie dough desert with ice-cream, I really felt full and sick afterwards! Tomorrow I'm going to have a big workout at the gym tomorrow and try to eat better!

I can't really think of any other way you are losing inches but not weight unless your are building muscle. Perhaps your deficit isn't as high as you think and you are eating enough to build some muscle?

In the past I have lost alot of inches and people complimented me on my weight loss but I had not actually lost any weight according to the scale (there was one incidence where I actually gained weight) and that was due to muscle gain I presume, I thought i was in deficit too.

Zorile: I think the Netherlands use European sizing, not 100% sure. If that is the case then a size 40 will be a UK 12 and a US 8.

Well done 3lbs down is brilliant!!!

Goddess: I totally understand, I'm really impatient as well and when I make an effort to do something I like to see immediate results. I know I really need to be patient as it can be so easy to give up. I have done that in the past when I haven't lost any weight I've given up and then gone and ordered a pizza. I lost over 40lbs before so I can do this (so I keep telling myself :0)

It's the weekends I really need to watch out for!

Start weight: 137lbs

Current weight: 137lbs

Measurements: 35-27-37

No loss for me this week, well at least I didn't gain! Hopefully this week will be better and the scales would go down by next Monday.

I'm feeling hungry (probably false hunger, had dinner a while ago) but ignoring the urge to eat, will go drink some herbal tea instead.

The British sizes are -4 of the American sizes, so a British 18 would be an American 14.

I really identify with you Jess!!! It's the all or nothing rule with me, it's either I eat ALL of anything I open or I don't eat anything at all.

If I open a packet of cookies, I can never stop at one, I seem to not be able to rest until the whole packet is gone. Same with a box of Cereal (Kellogs Crunchy nut clusters), I've finished a whole box in a day before.

Luckily I don't have any kids, it's just me so I try not to buy these things or I don't buy things in packets.

I too am ready for the weigh in on Monday! Hopefully the number on the scale will not shock me too much but sometimes those shocks are a good wake up call.

Spring 5: Why don't you try some interval training too, alternate between sprinting, jogging and walking. I find this less boring than going for a Jog for an hour. Also interval training is good because it doesn't allow your body to get used to one particular pace.  Also try some martial arts! very fun and especially good after a stressful day at work. I also agree with Cindy about setting goals, it helps me stay focussed and forces me not to give up till I've reached them.

Bohdan - I think for guys they tend to measure the chest, upper arms, around the belly button/waist. Alternatively you can measure 3 parts of your body where you'll most like to lose weight or the largest parts.

I have to think about what i'm going to eat for breakfast tomorrow, usually I'll have a flapjack, scone or hot cross bun at work, not very healthy I know. I will try and make time to have some branflakes before I leave for work.

That's correct, bust-waist-hips, see you're not stupid when it comes to measurements!!  :-)

I don't really have hips, I have a big butt (plus huge thighs) instead, so my hip measurements mainly come from there

Mine are: 35-27-37. When I was 16lbs lighter I was 34-24-36, the first place I lose weight and where most of the weight is lost from is in my waist,  urghhh makes everywhere else look even bigger and is a nightmare buying trousers!! I would love to lose weight from my butt and thighs.

Wow 70lbs, congrats!!! That's alot of weight to lose!

I'm really bloated as well but that's entirely my own thought!! I really need to learn that the weekends are not 'all you can eat buffets'!!. I'm usually pretty good during the week but when the weekend comes healthy eating is out of the window.

I think the suggestion of also taking measurements is good especially if you haven't lost any weight but you have lost inches can be a real boost. Perhaps do that every 2nd weigh in, I know it sometimes takes me 2 weeks to notice difference in measurements? If anyone wants to do it more regularly that's ok.

Urban decay - I think 15 is a good number! but perhaps leave it another day to see who else may join?

I'm struggling to stay away from junk food but I've told myself tomorrow is the 1st of June, so a clean break!

I seem to lose weight mainly around my waist, which just makes my thighs and butt look even bigger. I wish I could spot reduce!

I'm back on here after a long absence.

I'm currently 5ft2, medium frame and weigh b/w 135-137lbs. Last year I lost weight and got down to 121lbs but gained it back during and after christmas. Most of it is in my thighs and my behind!!

I'm now trying to get down to 119lbs.

Happy New Year everybody!!!!

I'm sorry haven't posted here in over a month, have had alot of personal problems and have dealt with some of it by eating lots of Junk (Christmas meaning there was plenty of food around) and doing no exercise, with the net result is I have gained 12lbs!!!!! I am not happy with this but its my own fault for comfort eating. I am slowing trying to get myself back on a healthy diet and exercise plan.

Current weight: 133lbs

I haven't been well for awhile so haven't been posting. Hope everybody had a great thanksgiving!

TOM paid me a visit this weekend, so I didn't weigh in on Sunday, for my own sanity I make it a point to avoid the scales during this time! Well I don't think I had lost any weight, I seem to be maintaining now.

Hey Team, hope everybody is doing alright and survived TGs! Now we just have to work on goals for the rest of the year and survive Christmas!!! I don't think I have ever started the New Year without gaining at least 2-3lbs from Christmas, I'm going to try and make it only 1lb.

Well done everybody on the weight loss!!!

Yes muscle always makes the scale go up or stay the same but at least you will look leaner, which is the most important thing. I have lost inches but no weight it does annoy me that the scale won't go down but at least I know I look leaner (makes me feel better :)).

I know I shouldn't focus too much on the scale but it would be just nice to have the numbers go down. I have lost inches but no weight, I know I must have gained muscle, which is better but I guess I'm one of those people who when they have a set goal or number in mind have to achieve it! All part of my obsessive personality trait.

Starting Weight: 122

Starting Weight this week: 121

Ending Weight this week: 121

Total lbs Lost: 0

Goal for Next Weigh In: Anything!!

Losing those last 10lbs is tough! Ms Scale refuses to comply with my efforts but then I always tend to lose inches more than weight and I have dropped a few centimetres.

Hey team, hope are all doing well!!! Even if we haven't lost anything or only a little this week, don't give up! Losing weight is never easy and the fact that we have made a committment to do so is an achievement in its self!!

Could we all vote on what we will call our team, xzcandizx made a suggestion and I made a few suggestions. Just let me know.

This week is thanksgiving week for most of you, I'm in the UK so no TG for me, just a normal boring Thurs/Fri for me! I was thinking we could post healthy options for each other or ways of avoiding overdoing it in this festive season. I know for myself I tend to gain alot of weight over Christmas because my mind goes crazy with all that tempting food around and i just have to have a 'little' bite of everything!! and before you know it I'm entering the new year as me + 10!

Good Luck for this week!
Weight Loss Our Body's "Set Point" - can it be changed? Nov 15 2007

Silvrayne, the same for me!!!!  my set points have also changed the more I worked harder, once it was 156, then 147, then 148, then 130 and now its 121.

I think set points can change, you just also have to change the way you do things (diet/exercise) as the body quickly adapts so it’s nice to give it a shock every now and again. It may take a while and you will have to be patient but the weight will go down!!!

Thanks for the congrats 5000theangel!!

As you said better for the scale to stay the same then go up! The scale refused to move for me for a long time.

Balisima - I totally feel your story, I have had so many weekends where I have gone a bit crazy and ended up back at square one, for a time it seemed I was spending the weekdays losing the weight I had gained on the weekends but the good news is that is has come off before and it will come off again. We just have to always pick ourselves up and start again.

I love homous too!!! That usually causes me to eat too much bread cos I spread it on very thick!

It seems the closer I am to my goal, the harder it is to stay motivated and focussed, I just don't seem to have the drive at 121lbs that I did at 164lbs, plus the weight is coming off ever so slowly now so it knocks my motivation even further.

Looks like no one has any ideas for our team's name, hmmm, I'm always bad at coming up with good names, they always sound too cheesy or silly, lol.  I don't know? Maybe flab attackers? Flabiciders? Poundsters? Diet gurus?

How is everyone doing this week? Are you all incorporating regular exercise into your diet plan? It doesn't have to involve going to the gym. I sometimes do some weight training with tins/bottles I have in my house or run up n down the stairs a few times, anything to get my heart racing.

I am going to a concert later on today, quite excited about that, the pounds will probably be sequeezed out of me by the end of the night!!

Good Luck team! Lets keep focussed on our goals for this week. Remember if we slip up, lets not dwell on it but concentrate on making tomorrow better!

Hi Team,

Hope you are all doing good!!

I thought it would be a good idea to find out how much exercise we all do, the type of exercise and how much calories consumed on a daily basis. You can post this here or email me. I just want to get a generally feel of what was working for other people.

Now that I don’t have as much weight to lose as I did before I’m finding that it is harder and harder to lose a lb! When I first started losing weight I lost 11lbs in one month but now I’m lucky if I even lose 2lbs. It does get frustrating especially if you are trying so hard.

I generally exercise 1-2 hours per day (cross trainer, stairmaster, body combat, body pump, running, cycling) I think I’m a little bit of an exercise Junkie!! Hehe but I really love the high you get after a good workout.

I generally consume 1500 – 2000 calories (due to the exercise) and like to eat 6 small meals but my downfall is the weekends, I get bored and eat like crazy. That is another goal for me…..to eat on the weekends like I eat on the weekdays. Let me know what you guys do to stop the weekend binges!!

Melt_the_fat: Tangerines are great!!! My first healthy food love! I hate keeping things around in case I have company because I'm always afraid I'll eat it all but you can't have an empty fridge/cupboard when your friends come round.

Hello aftonmae, cambrose67, eanoe, imsvicky2u, melt_the_fat, sequoia, thainic, adictv, xzcandizx. Welcome to the team!!! If anyone has any ideas about what we should call ourselves just let me know. If you could all also pm me your 1st and 2nd weigh ins, saves me the job of reading through all the posts!!!

Feel free to email me anytime!! As I'm in the UK I'll probably 5-8hours ahead of you all but I'm on here quite regularly.

Good Luck Team

Remember eat well, exercise and drink plenty of water!!! (I need to try and drink more water as I'm not a big fan of the stuff, that is one of my goals for this week)

To the above posts, I agree a little bit of competition is healthy and keeps us quite focussed!! We all know we are all working towards the same goal...to lose weight, so we'll still offer support to each other.

After weeks of the scale failing to move, I have finally lost a lb!! Now at 121lbs, that's 9lbs away from my goal weight. I would really like to reach my goal weight by the end of this year but with how slowly the weight is coming off I'm not sure that is going to be possible but will try anyhow.

I am slowly starting to drink more water (without the added squash), it will take awhile before I'm a full blown water drinker but we need to start somewhere.
