It also shows off what little muscles I have, since there's less fat covering them. Thumbs up for losing the 3 pounds! |

I'm a big fan of walking, not running. For me, its about the quality of my walk, not the distance or time. I'm fortunate enough to live in San Francisco, so I have th hills to use for resistance. I zig-zag up and down the hills, which raises my heartrate when I go uphill, and lets me rest when I go downhill. Its also killer for my butt. It doesn't matter how fast I go. Its enough of a challenge to make it to the top, but when I push myself to make it up the hill, I look forward to flying down the other side. Not everyone has that kind of natural resistance available to them, but any version that lets you create intervals of raising your heartrate, then resting, is the best way to get real benefits from walking. |

| Weight Loss | sedentary vs light activity ??? | Jan 29 2008 22:49 (UTC) |
|
| I do the same as neversaydiekai. I walk to and from work every day (about 3 miles round trip) and different trips around the office. I work out 6 days a week too. On my activity level, I list sedentary, because I have a desk job, but then log ALL my activities (anything over walking 5 minutes). I figure this was I'm looking at the LOWEST possible amount I burned that day, instead of over-estimating, and not burning as many as I thought. | |||

| I'm 5'7" weighing in about 122 pounds, but I wear a size zero, and sometimes a size 2... I have larger breasts, though. Hmmm. Where does everyone shop? I can't imagine that I'm THAT much smaller than all these other 5'7"inchers. Although, when I was 170 pounds, I wore a size 14. | |||

Its nice to see so many people in my situation. It really takes someone who's "been there" to understand what's going through my head when I look in the mirror. |

How frustrating! I'm sure you just want to shout out to everyone what an accomplishment you've made, and it has to be a crushing blow to have no one notice. Its a huge deal to you, and it would be nice if others saw it as well. Don't take it personally, though. People who see you on a regular or daily basis are usually the last ones to see weight loss, since its not an overnight change. You know what would make make all the difference in the world? Wearing clothes that actually fit you! It sounds like you're still wearing your bigger clothes that are not showing off your new physique. I'm not saying to go buy a new wardrobe every time you drop a size, but a few new pieces you can mix in would make a big difference. Keep up the good work! You should be very proud of yourself. |

| I weigh myself every day. If I come in heavier than I wanted, or I didn't shed all the water weight from the day before, it keeps me from grabbing that free cookies in the office, or having that extra snack at the office. Besides, I have a smile all day on my face when I had a good weigh-in, and I feel good about myself and my progress. If I don't know where I weigh in, I tend to stress about it all day. | |||
| Maintaining | Any 5'7ers?? | Jan 01 2008 21:19 (UTC) |

| I'm 5'7" and I weigh 122 pounds. I'm a small frame, but I'm trying to shed fat that has pooled in my middle. I walk 6 days a week, and I eat between 1000 and 1300 calories a day. I would say you should keep your calories between 1400 and 1600 calories to maintain. Any more than that, and I find my weight starts to fluctuate up, not down. | |||

| Hot sauce, preferably Cholula. Its a ittle high in sodium, but it makes so many things taste better, without added calories from marinades or sauces. Also great on green beans! | |||

| You know what's a great on-the-go breakfast/sn ack, is the Kashi Golean Crunch bars. They're 180 calories, with 8 grams of protien and 6 grams of fiber, which helps you feel fuller, longer. If you've only got 5 minutes before class, or your on your way to school, eat one of those. They're pretty big too, unlike most granola bars so you feel like you are getting so much more. Its not that big, that you would feel uncomfortable running after eating it. | |||
| Weight Loss | boobs. | Nov 13 2007 17:43 (UTC) |

Well, I am on healing day 10 of getting a breast lift/augmentation because of losing weight. I lost 60 pounds, but also went from a 38DD to a 34B (and not a large B at that). There are exercises you can do to help keep the girls lifted, but unfortunately fat is fat, and it will come off your whole body, not just the areas you want (or don't want). For me, getting my breasts done was the final hurrah and present to myself for losing the weight. My boobs were the one thing I was proud of when I was heavier, and to lose them was pretty devastating for me. I am SO glad I had the surgery. I'm not telling you that you need to do the same thing, but its an option. I now have the small waist I always wanted AND the breasts to match! |

| Weight Loss | First day back on the wagon after surgery | Nov 13 2007 17:16 (UTC) |
|
| Thank you so much for your story and advise. I jumped on the scale this morning to find that I put on 6 pounds in the 13 days since my surgery. I'm sure there is some water weight/swelling in there, and muscle loss from lack of exercise, but it's not as bad as I feared. I'm cutting my calories back from 1200 a day to 900-1000, and I will definitely start walking as much as I can stand without any pain until I get clearance to work out again (in about 5 weeks). | |||
