Weight Loss 5'2''ers what size are you? Sep 04 2008

Wow i am surprised about how many 5'2ers there are! lol. I am 5'2 right now i weigh 207lbs. and wear a 16.  When i was a 117lbs. i used to wear a 5 or 7, my waist was 28 inches. i wish i fit into a size 4! lol but never did, even when i weighed 103lbs. I wore a 5, and would try to squeeze into a 3 (they fit but tight! so no go lol), when i was 103 i had a 22 inch waist.  i think the sizes have gone up since then, cause i noticed a lot of people can fit into smaller sizes than i used to and they weigh more. i am 25 yrs old BTW. :)  trying to go back down to 115!! but at least 125, then i'd be happier! lol.

I think you should maybe talk to one of her friends or talk to a counselor at your school. If yu do go to the counselor, you have to give her an example or something you saw her do, like throw up food, or not eating etc.

I know how hard it is to talk to someone about that. My firend weighed about 140 like a year ago and now she weighs like 85 lbs and looks VERY unhealthy. But she just thinks she looks better than ever, but to everyone else she looks like a skeleton, her legs are like bones already. I just can't get myself up to talking about it with her. I even made a fake profile so that i can talk to her. NAd to that "fake person" she said that she had a fast metabolism!< which is not true cause shes been considered chubby all her life!. So i don't know what i can tell you, people only change if they want it themselves. The only thing you can do is tell her loved ones to talk with her.

I wish you good luck :)

Hello Everyone. I am finally back!! I have been MIA for awhile.

When I started here, i was doing so good. I lost 5 lbs, was exercising and eating right. But then in late October I moved to a new place, ever since we found out we were moving we got excited and ate out everyday while we packed till we moved out. And now since we've been here, i've gotten really sluggish and lazy. I think i finally have my eating back on track, but i just can't seem to get my butt up to do exercise. I really need some tips on exercises for beginners and some motivation.

I am also thinking about joining curves. I wish though, that i had a work out buddy or something so that we can go together but oh well Frown

Anywho, like i said lately i've been really tired, and i spend most of my day in bed and when i tried to jump on the bike my legs and whole body just felt weak, so i had to get off. maybe i need vitamins? Idk any suggestions?

Thank you all.

I agree with Lifeizsweet: "If i didn't weigh myself i would probably give up, the little numbers give me motivation and keep me in line. Once i am near my goal i will probably weigh myself less, but at the moment i need to to remind myself i need to lose the weight"

Thats what I do too, when I first saw the scale go down I got excited and it motivated me to keep going.

But people with ed's like ana and mia, they shouldn't really have scales, because they freak out at the fluctuations and it may cause them to purge.

But for me it motivated me, it even motivates me to eat less sodium, so I won't hold in excess water. Its different for different people. So you should  stick what works for you :)

Weight Loss How do you create a Calorie Deficit? Sep 12 2007
13:59 (UTC)

Thank you so much for answering my reply.

So far this is what I've found:

Calorie Needs to lose weight
There are approximately 3500 calories in a pound of stored body fat. So, if you create a 3500-calorie deficit through diet, exercise or a combination of both, you will lose one pound of body weight. (On average 75% of this is fat, 25% lean tissue) If you create a 7000 calorie deficit you will lose two pounds and so on. The calorie deficit can be achieved either by calorie-restriction alone, or by a combination of fewer calories in (diet) and more calories out (exercise). This combination of diet and exercise is best for lasting weight loss. Indeed, sustained weight loss is difficult or impossible without increased regular exercise.

If you want to lose fat, a useful guideline for lowering your calorie intake is to reduce your calories by at least 500, but not more than 1000 below your maintenance level. For people with only a small amount of weight to lose, 1000 calories will be too much of a deficit. As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

An alternative way of calculating a safe minimum calorie-intake level is by reference to your body weight or current body weight. Reducing calories by 15-20% below your daily calorie maintenance needs is a useful start. You may increase this depending on your weight loss goals.

SOooooo....

My BMR was 1773

CAlories NEeded to MAINTAIN weight was :  2127

so to lose weight it says to knock off 500 -1000 calories but not to go below 1,200 cals for a woman.

SO I think I get it now. Thank you so much :)

ugh....I had a bad day today, I haven't even calculated my food on the log yet! I know that I went waaaaay over my calorie intake :( lets see, today I ate:

Steak Fajitas

Mexican Rice

1 flour totilla

and sadly like 5 minutes ago I ate almost a whole bag of fritos! :(

I feel so bloated and disappointed.

I guess all I can do is focus on the good parts of today, like only drinking water and doing my stationary bike .
