| I like to tell myself I cannot work on my cross stitch until I get my exercise out of the way. I love cross stitching so I say no, can't do it yet.... I say to myself, "get your sweats on and get going". I do 30 mins of calisthenics a day, and I figure 30 minutes of doing anything else just isn't a long time, so I try to just get up and go. I have a dog too and she needs to get out daily. I've got 50 to lose, just lost my first 10. It's a head game, yes. But I feel much better picking up my stitching knowing that I'd worked out first. | |||

| Hi Amanda, hope your surgery was uneventful and that you recovered fully and quickly. I have a friend who had that surgery and today (4 years later), she looks and feels sensational! I agree with the others, if you really want it, then have a little. Maybe a couple chocolate chips would suffice. Or maybe a frozen fudge pop. Incorporate it into your daily calorie count. My weakness is donuts! I had to move to a town that had a Dunkin Donuts right down the street. I've decided that I can make my own coffee at home and skip the donut part! Good luck! | |||

| Way to go gdharris! You are awesome, your string is very inspirational! I just finished my exercise, walking the dog, then to the basement for some aerobics and weight lifting. I came in here to log my event and saw this and you are right, it feels great! | |||

Thanks haley_2008. This site is a huge motivator, I can honestly say now that I'm working off my second 10 pounds. Hey! That'll be 20! woo hoo! I do love hearing from others about their goals being met, they exhibit so much excitement. I'm trying to get my girlfriend to start up, but she says she can't do the 'structured' diet thing. I think if anything she should join to enjoy the forum. |

| One Graham cracker sheet = 65 cals, plus two Tbl FF Cool Whip 30 cals. Crack the graham in half, add cool whip, make a sandwich and freeze. Home made ice cream sandwich. Great when you just need a little sweet. | |||

| I have not watched the show, but isn't it true, if you are morbidly obese, losing weight very quickly doesn't give your skin a chance to shrink with your body? | |||

| I know the motivation part is tough, but don't you feel great when you accomplish what you set out to do? I'm trying to lose a considerable amount of weight and once I finish my regular exercise I always feel really good and wonder why it's always such a bear to get started. Burn those stairs up! | |||

Dear Daisy, Buzz, and Doodles, I am very sorry that we brought that huge freight train into the house called Ginger. Daddy bought a truck and thought he would look even cooler with a dog in it. It has been a year now, you guys can relax, she is not going to eat you. Mom

OK, hatchet burying time. I'm sorry I reacted like that. You were there, that's probably all it took. Not you, personally Katrina. I am not trying to excuse my own behavior, I am dealing with a huge stress in my life that's been 5 months going and I'm just a powder keg. It's a serious matter, won't go into any details, but it is like a boulder I drag everywhere. I came here mainly to find (of all things) friends. Wow. First impressions really do count. Please accept my apology, the next time I sense a similar reaction, I'll take a deep breath and move along. I'm sorry to have erupted like that. And I invite your comments anytime.

I think you should have skipped my post completely as you would others that didn't pertain to your own personal experience. It was intended to be light hearted and I was asking if others could relate, I did not need your two cents: "Well, hmm I personally don't see anything wrong with me being a 20's person trying to look even better, and whatever" How totally inappropriate an immature. The post was directed at people over their 20s and who actually have been dealing with weight in a way you could not possibly understand. Grow up. Even your last post is just plain nasty. I apologize to the moderators, if this string needs pulling do so now. |

| Muttlover, I still have the violin I used when I was in my fourth grade, and THAT was a long time ago. Always wanted to play well, guess it wasn't in the cards. But that is awesome to hear someone else calling it a knack! You probably play other instruments too? | |||

| Jujubeen, my dog loves the snow, it's the cats that are going haywire!. They are searching desperately for something that resembles dirt. I've caught them lately digging in my plants. The only place they can go is underneath our camper, BUT they need to cross over the snow to get there. They have dug a small tunnel to get inside. Fun to watch! | |||

| That is so sad to hear reports about people dying from shoveling snow. We are always warned about that, I guess we think it won't ever happen to us. Still, it's always sad news to hear. My heart goes out to their families. | |||

I hope you did not hurt yourself too badly, shoveling is a back breaker! I'm no stranger to the snow this year, I live in Vermont and it snowed every day in February. I love snow, but this year it got the best of me. I wore out my show shovel! The snow at my porch walk is as high as I am tall. It has taken the form of a lava flow between my garage and house. In my front yard it is 7 feet high because of clearing driveways and the city coming through and clearing the streets. AND...it's been like that since January. Driving has been a real pain. I put pics in my gallery. Take care of yourself! Oh, my house is two colors because we started priming in September and SNOW started early this year!

| Weight Loss | I give up. Gained weight since I started | Mar 09 2008 13:41 (UTC) |

| Don't give up, we are similar in weight and height and I know I can do this. I'm not a huge fan of exercise but I try to do it anyway. I eat around 1300-1400 cal/day and I try to get as much fruit, whole wheat and protein in as I can. I've lost 8 pounds since Feb 20. I'll wager that one day you will get on the scale and it starts to drop every week because of your efforts. | |||
| Weight Loss | Can you still lose inches without exercising | Mar 09 2008 13:21 (UTC) |

I would consider painting the house exercise. Some days instead of going to my basement to do the regular 30 minutes, I pull out the vacuum and clean all three floors in my home - one after another. That involves moving things, and also the stairs. I count that as exercise because it takes me nearly an hour to do it if I go consecutively from one room to another. Breaks the monotony a little. |

Deb, thank you so much for your entry. I understand that sometimes people don't really think before they post - and their original intention is not to insult or hurt others' feelings. I complicated the matter because I am a powder keg of emotions right now. A very huge and serious incident occurred in my life a few months ago, which has affected my whole family, AND I'm trying to lose weight on top of it. My response was more emotional than intelligent. You are a wonderful inspiration, thank you for writing your experience for me. |

| Weight Loss | What constitutes a 'binge'? | Mar 08 2008 20:21 (UTC) |
5 |
| Yes, I believe it's attitude, as well as quantity too. I believe binging is knowing that there is a container of ice cream in the freezer, it calls out to you - even though you are not hungry, you take it out and eat way too much of it right from the carton for no other reason than knowing it was there in the first place. . I really, really try not to have ice cream in my house! :) | |||

Ok, I took a breather. Sometimes young people say stupid things. Please do not take that as an insult to all of you out there, I just know a few young people who do not know when they say something inappropriate or uncalled for. I have children in their mid 20s, I know from personal experience. I was asking myself why I had this constant battle between my brain and my body, a sort of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing. I could be enjoying a good day food wise, watching myself and then my brain (Mr. Hyde) creeps up and says "Hey, there are cookies in the break room", then my body (Dr. Jekyll) comes in and says No, no don't. I was fine the last few weeks, then BAM, I found myself eating ice cream - too much of it. Mr. Hyde crept in and was taking over. I ponder on it occasionally, why must my mind take control of my body? I am needled by Mr. Hyde alot, and I find myself saying "why must I keep saying NO all the time"? Then I followed, in essence, by saying I was not a young person working off a few vanity pounds. I deal with "Jekyll and Hyde" daily and wondered if others could relate.

When I view a post that is not fit for me personally to respond to, I skip over it. No sense in my attempting to comment a post that I cannot relate to. It was a lighthearted post, I did not expect to be attacked personally. She should have skipped over it - instead, she insulted me.

I edited and removed my original entry. There are SO many posts out there from young teens and adults who are saying they are 120 pounds and they have to lose "x" amount more or they are just going to die. I was attempting to reach those members out there who are over their 20s and who have struggled for a very long time going up and down with their weight. I don't need your soapbox, I was attempting to a start conversation. Thank you for making me feel like a mean, fat, old barge. My string was intended to attract people over their 20s. Your comment is exactly what I was trying to avoid, you are FIT and YOUNG. You could have chosen not to comment. Your two cents has made me feel insignificant and worthless. I'm leaving this place. I don't come here to be browbeaten and purposefully insulted. I hope you feel better for making this fat, old barge start crying. |
