| Molly, I'm sorry your DH is off again. Your dinner sounded scrum-didddly-umptious. BTW.....I've been dying to ask.....did you work for the Gov't? Your use of acronyms is astounding. They give me the giggles .ICBINBS and .... darn it, what was the one you used for the tape measure? That was hysterical! If you don't start your cookbook you could write a "Molly's dictionary of acronyms" | |||

Hey everyone. Rebepi, I am so sorry that you are in so much pain. I hope and pray that a resolution comes quickly for you. Didn't do much today. Nursed my migrain and dispensed nebulizer tratments to my 15 month old. I had a 2 lb weight gain this morning from being TTOTM and all....so not in the best of spirits today....but as Scarlett O'Hara says "Tommorrow is another day!" |

Hey all! Crazy busy weekend! Crazy busy day. I had my niece this weekend....her Mom is the wonderful woman who went home (heaven) in January. It's such a tragic story. She's living with her Dad and his wife. His wife is doing a great job with my neice and the dad is overindulgent to a fault. I have cared for this little girl since she was born and this weekend.....she stole from my home. Keep in mind that she is only 9......I was so baffled. This is clearly a cry for help. On top of this DH and I hashed out some pretty big issues in our marriage (nothing to draw any alarm....every marriage has their "issues") I feel good about it because I think we are finally making some progress in some areas. I wake up this morning with my regular monthly migraine (TOTM) and my toddler wheezing. It was actually pretty good timing because I didn't want to do anything other than veg on the sofa and handling a toddler with a breathing problem leaves little time for anything other than caring for him. On the other hand.....the scale was not my friend today. Usually I am okay with my scales mood swings....but I'm having a hard time with this one. I think it's because my goal was reached last week and my 2 lb weight gain this week is a step backward I wasn't anticipating. Hope everyone is great and I'll chat with y'all tomorrow. |

| Pam, the beef stew was a success. My hubby is a picky eater (Maybe that's why he's so thin....maybe I should be a picky eater) and he had no complaints tonight. HOORAY! Plus it was very filling, low in cals and a huge serving. (a cup and 1/2 didn't sound like much to me until I saw it). I can't stop talking about food. Can you tell it's TTOTM? | |||

Molly, The secret ingredient to getting your tomatoes to taste pizza-y.....brace yourself.....Oregano. Widely known among teenagers looking for a good alibi, it also has been useful in many Italian dishes. (I can speak from experience here, since I am Italian.) I used to part time at Subway for something to fill my day with before I had my latest little guy (14 months) and on Fridays I would make myself a veggie sub. My co-workers always snickered but I didn't let it get to me....it was the best sub of the week. First I would start with the whole wheat sub-roll (6 in.) Then I would splash a little vinegar, place down some fresh spinach, tomatoes, hot peppers, oregano, Parmesan and some provolone. Then I would shove the heaping sub into the micro-toaster oven (bet you didn't know that the toaster ovens at Subway were also part microwave....insiders secret...shhhhhh) and Viola'!!! Super gooey nummy mess of a veggie samich (translated---sandwich) The best part of that job was the free lunch. I miss my veggie subs. Maybe I will get some of the English muffins and try it out on them.....mouth watering. |

| We are having the beef stew that I started yesterday. Hubby had a hankering for Toxic smell (Taco bell) after his procedure and wasn't hungry for dinner. You can all congratulate me bacuse I "Just Said No" to the fast food junkies. I came home and had a lean ham and swiss sandwich for dinner. Since my 8 yr old had his cousin spend the night they got to pick what they wanted for din din. They chose microwavable mac & cheese (hooray for easy dinner night). So I stuck my crockpot in the fridge and put it back on this morning. Low fat beef stew from the better homes and gardens cook book. Lots and lots of veggies. | |||

| The gallbladder isn't really a useless organ. It works as part of the bodies filtration system. I had a friend who had gall bladder surgery. She had it removed without looking into alternative measure and/ or a second opinion. Turns out she could have done a gall bladder cleanse and changed her diet and probably would have been better off. Since having her gall bladder removed she now has liver problems. (GB filters the liver....liver filters the whole body) I hope you don't have to go through what she is going through. | |||

Good afternoon everyone! Thank you all for your prayers. I am praying for you all as well! So many prayer requests this week! I'm learning the valuable lesson of hardship and keeping my focus on heaven. Pam, I am so sorry that you are in pain today. Hopefully you will find some peace while relaxing in your bed. Ahhhhhh relaxing in bed. Maybe I'll come over and we can watch movies in bed all day. I could use a day like that. Today must be official crock pot day. I'm crockin today as well. Jennifer, Veggies always make lovely side dishes, especially when you are trying to avoid starches. I like to get inspiration from on-line recipes and cook books. For example....the other night I was craving BBQ chicken, so I took the fatty skin off and slathered the low cal BBQ sauce on the chicken. While the intoxicating aroma of chicken BBQing wafts through my home, I'm racking my brain as to what I can serve with this. Usually it's potato salad, but I don't make a very healthy potato salad....so I found this recipe for a cucumber salad.....It was pretty easy and very tasty. Low fat/ fat free yogi (plain), cucumbers, onions, vinegar and dill (mmmmmmm......dill) and with that we had a fresh garden salad and mixed veggies (the mix had carrots and corn which can be no no's with diabetic's) but hubby didn't even notice the depleted amount of starches. It was all about the chicken. Happy hunting (my fav cookbook is better homes & gardens) |

| I've had a few days like that. I try to be kind to myself and not give into the guilt trap and promise myself that I will do better tommorrow. I also make sure to either plan out my course of meals for the next day and/ or track every single calorie that goes into my mouth. My OWID is Monday morning. It helps me to behave on weekends. | |||

Welcome cpulley, crazygal and kimberley! Rebepi, nice to see your face! Kimberly, just a point of view from the other side of the fence...a hubby that WANTS to spend TIME with YOU by SHARING an activity that BENEFITS BOTH of you. What a blessing. Imagine if he didn't care and didn't want to spend that time with you. Something to think about. Don't get me wrong, I totally get the "me time". Is there another time during your day where you can steal an hour to yourself? |

| Hey all! I've been super busy today. I went with DH to get his Cortisone shot for his back. The boys were fantastic! My 8 yr. old is such a charmer. Please pray that hubby will be guided as to what the best choice is for dealing with his pain. Painkillers are really addictive and his shots only seem to last a year. From what I understand they are painful and inconvenient but he seems to stall whenever his Dr. mentions sugery. (I don't blame him....surgery is scary....what a lot to think about). He has a 3 disc herniation in his lower lumbar with disc degenerative disease and arthristis. He's only 43.
If you don't mind, I have another prayer request that's close to home. My brother-in-law passed out the other night and had a series of seizures where he ended up without a pulse for about 40 seconds. There was no explanation so he's going to the neurologist tomorrow. My sister-in-law is under a tremendous amount of stress from this situation since she just lost her sister in January, so this has opened up a whole lot of unhealed wounds for her. Please pray that the neurologist has the ability to help my Bro in law and God provides peace to my Sis-in-law (and 2 neices) and faith & healing. Thanks and mucho luvins to everyone Tonights dinner - Low fat/ Low Cal beef stew (recipe in Better Homes & Gardens ccokbook under soups and stews. Best thing about it, I stuck it in the crockpot this morning and my home smells scrumptious right now) |

YAY Pam!, I'm so glad you got to go outside today! The air quality wasn't great today so I couldn't take the baby for a long walk. Maybe tomorrow. We live on the third floor of an apartment building and the washer and dryer are on the bottom floor. I've been doing laundy and taking the stairs....so that's gotta count for something. Jen, I'm a stay home mama too. It IS a struggle being home with your kids let alone with other people's kids. I love kids and have taken care of kids in a pinch. Usually there is some financial problem and they can't afford daycare. And I know what you are saying about the time expectation of the parent(s) coming to pick up the kids. Hubby and I made a tough decision that I wouldn't take in other people's kids this year. I was really worried because those jobs lined my pocket a bit. But this year, my family is really doing a lot better without the presence of other kids. I know it doesn't sound very christian and helpful, but I am learning the importance of taking care of myself as well. If I'm not okay then I don't have anything to give to others. So I will pray for you and your household. It takes a special kind of person to lovingly care for other people's children, especially when boundery lines get pushed. Kat, I'm praying that you hear from your son before the week is out. |

Jen, it sounds like you are doing well with fluids and eating. The only things that are coming to mind is, are you logging in all your calories honestly? I only say that because that is my weakness. I am not always honest with myself. If you are being honest about calories and not forgetting to log in and account for all food, do you have a lot of stress in your life right now? Un-handled stress can be the WORST obstacle for women trying to lose weight. Hormones can also deter weight-loss. Is it that time of the month/ PMS? (You don't have to share.....just keep in mind). Do you have thyroid issues. You may want to consider getting a physical and ask your DR. to check your thyroid and your hormone levels. I was in the same place mentally. I was working out on our Bow-Flex 3 days a week for 45 minutes for a month and ended up gaining 7 lbs. Ended up going to the DR. to discover High-blood pressure associated with stress/ emotional issues. It's forced me to look at how I deal with stress. I also was not honestly tracking my food. Got the blood test and found that thyroid and hormones were fine but the un-dealt with stress was physically effecting me. Sorry, I got a little winded there. I hope some of this was helpful. Some other personal discoveries I have made is that I could eat like a bird all day, but if I don't make time to move my hefty butt it's almost self defeating. I do see results from restrictive eating, but I have to excersize. It's not what I want to do, but I don't want to die of a stroke soon either. I gotta move, I gotta track and I gotta stay close to my heavenly father and give him my worries.

Sara, You are welcome! I love herbal remedies when they can actually help (haha) Kate, I agree with Sue. I started out weighing in first thing Monday morning. I have an old scale and a sloping apartment floor, so I find that one spot on the floor that gives me the lowest number, go to the bathroom, strip down and them weigh and measure. I had started weighing in everyday a couple weeks ago and my mood was on the same roller coaster as my weight. I can't take the drama, so I'm back to Monday mornings. It's been a good incentive for me to bahave on the weekends. |

I've been wondering, did you go by the cal's that CC quoted you with or did you go lower? I'm debating my cal's right now. Wondered if you had the same wonderment in the beginning. |

| When I go to Starbucks I usually get a Sugar-free Vanilla non-fat latte (grande)it's a lot lower in cal's than the regular sugar laden whole milk stuff they serve unless you state otherwise. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than 7/11 but I do this as a treat every once in a while. The Caramel Machiatto was high in the 300's for cals and the animal crackers were 90 so I round up to 500. It was still my favorite breakfast for the week. hee hee | |||

| Rant for the day. Extra pounds dressed in healthy food clothing. Last week I wrote about the benefits of turkey bacon (farce farce). This week.....Low Fat Frozen Yogi. It is always dangerous when DH does grocery shopping. We end up with boxes of Ho ho's and containers of Pringles and now 4 (that's right 4!) half gallons of Breyer's ice cream. By the way, he can eat this stuff and lose weight.....yeah.....he's one of those. Anyway, in his effort to be supportive (which I view as very sweet and don't want to discourage this behavior) he brings me home this little pint of Low Fat Frozen Yogurt. Isn't that sweet? However, the frozen yogi was manufactured by non other than the anti-diet company, Hagen Daas. Yes, it was low in fat......but that was about it. a 1/2 cup serving had the same number of cals. as the cookies and creme ice cream from breyers. The H.D. also had alot more sugar than the regular stuff.......why ? Why torture us? When we walk through the grocery store having to scour over labels and make comparisons, munch our healthy snacks, use fake butter on our popcorn and dream of yellow streams of butter lathering our popcorn......why must you taunt us with low fat frozen yogi? Is nothing sacred? | |||

We had a super busy weekend. Hubby and I went to a marriage conference and then on to a birthday party for our neice. We were supposed to go to an Octoberfest party yesterday but we all decided that we were just too pooped to party (haha party poopers). I'm learning the compensation idea. Hubby and I got Starbucks coffee before our conference and I wanted a Caramel Macchiato....so I had a couple of animal crackers and my favorite coffee for b-fast. It was close to a 500 cal b-fast, but I got my coffee....so it was all good. I accidentally left the stroller in the back of the car, which hubby takes to work, so no walk today. I think I'll put my dance party mix on and dance with baby for an hour. Other than that, I have tons of house work to do today.....that's gotta count for some calorie burn....right? Also exited to reach my first goal. I've lost 10 lbs. second goal is 28 lbs......only 18 away. |

Pam, I am praying for you. God put the poem "Footprints" on my heart for you today Footprints One night a man had a dram. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across they sky flashed scened from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him, and the other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He aslo noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." My dear sister Pam, Rest in the arms of our Father today. Let him rejuvinate your spirit and fill you with His peace and His love and His mercy, His understanding and His strength. My thoughts and prayers will be with you today. I want you to know that God puts you on my heart on a daily basis and I think of you often.
