| Foods | after dinner , cravings???? | Oct 31 2009 18:45 (UTC) |

I agree w/ the dark chocolate posts & a new thing I am doing is cutting up a whole apple into small pieces, getting exactly 1 TBS of low fat carmel and taking my time doing a wee dip w/ each apple piece. For less than 100 calories my cravings are gone, I feel full from eating the apple slowly and I saved myself an overload of unwanted calories. I rather be over 100 than 600 by the time I am satisfied the craving. One more thing, a new find for me is pouring just a bit of pure vanilla extract in my water. I so feel like I am cheating, it tastes really good! |

I experienced knee pain for my first time this summer, I was traing for a 1/2 marathon & doing weight training every couple of days. I did some research, stopped doing squarts and lunges and started doing some knee strengthening exercises, have not had a problem since. The exercises were simple too, sit on the floor /w you legs out in front of you. lift one straight leg a little off the ground about 10X then switch to the other leg. I did these 3-5 times each, good luck at the dr |

| Weight Loss | I'm hungry all the time!! | Jan 11 2008 19:52 (UTC) |

| There are some great suggestions here that I will give a try as well. Something that I have done when I know it is gonna be a "hungry" day is pop low cal pop corn. There are so few calories that you can eat it until you have that nice full feeling that your body is going for- without calorie overload. I don't always really "want" the popcorn, but what I really want is way too high in calories. So I compromise. | |||

| Fell down walking my dog, broke my collar bone. Had to finish walking home past neighbors. I was in shock and could here myself screaming and crying, it was not a pretty sight. I looked like a crazy person! One neighbor asked if I needed help and I was trying to tell him I was almost home but, what came out of my mouth was incoherent! I was so embarrassed I went back later and introduced myself and told him I had broken my collar bone and that is why I was acting like that (blush!) I must say gym class for me has been a long time ago, but I am positive there were some things I purposely forgot! | |||

Hello, I too injured myself about 8 weeks ago exercising. Broke my collar bone in half, with one side sticking my skin out. Have had surgery and am 3 weeks from the second surgery. I could not exercise at all at first and watched my calories VERY closely never going over 1200. I was pleasantly suprised that I still lost weight! I am sorry I am sure you are going to miss running, I added on a weighted belt a few weeks ago of 20lbs. Walking just does not burn many calories for me, so maybe you can do something like that too when you are back on your feet again. Take care. |

| When I have nausea and HAVE to get things done anyway, I take benedryl. It makes some people super sleepy though. The Dr. prescribed it for morning sickness with all three of my pregnancies to keep me out of the hospital. It works! | |||

| Your symptoms sound just like my daughters! She has allergies to pollen this time of year. Her's will end around late Nov. early Dec. Maybe it is not a food allergy but one to something like pollen. If you are under extra stress right now you could also be experiencing "stress induced allergies" I don't think that is a medical term but, I have never suffered from allergies to things like grass etc. but, one stressful summer I was miserable! Just a thought. | |||

| Fitness | Need gym/exercise advice! May seem silly, but... What Anti-perspirant Works for you??? | Oct 13 2007 21:53 (UTC) |

| I have used EVERY Anti-perspirant on the market and have a prescription from my Dr. currently. (It doesn't work either.) Bottom line for me is using small panty liners stuck to my shirts under my armpits (how's that for personal?) Anyway, they work and I am not as self conscience anymore when I go to the gym, or for speaking engagements! | |||
| Fitness | What are good winter workouts? | Oct 13 2007 21:46 (UTC) |

I live in Bend, Oregon. We also get some snow in the winter. This will be my first year snow shoeing, and I am looking forward to it! In the past I used our long winters to do floor work. Ball exercises/situps/ resistance bands/light weight trainin etc. I always look more tone in the winter months because of this routine (kind of ironic!) I don't have any differnet winter outdoor ideas- will look forward to others responses. |

| Wait it out, the discomfort will go away soon. It stinks but, honestly you have to stop the cycle and then choose to not eat a bunch next time. It takes self control but, I am confidant you can get past this tummy ache. | |||
| Foods | I don't know what to eat. | Oct 13 2007 00:06 (UTC) |

We are a lot alike, it is after everyone is finally in bed that my body says, "FEEEED MEEE!" I have went to the store with these moments in mind and looked on the back of convenient food packages to figure out what I can fall back on. I have done well with All Bran Mulit Grain crackers, they have a sweet and salty taste and are low in calories. I will also add one slice of reduced fat cheddar cheese (70 calories) made by Kraft it is the 2% milk product. It is the only one I can stand the taste of. (I too am picky) I popped myself some popcorn (98% fat free) and add the white cheddar powder in the spice aisle. It has like 2 cal per serving. That is just in there in a big zip lock so I don't make a bad choice in the heat of the moment. Take the time to bag some carrots or any other veggies you like so you can just grab them washed and ready to eat. When I bother to do these things I will eat them instead of the high calorie cereals or crackers in my pantry. Good luck, this is a tough one for me too! One more suggestion (my husband is fighting the healthy food thing too.) I just made Acorn Squash added just a little melted butter and some Brown Sugar Splenda and then just a drizzle of honey on it. OH MY Gosh is this good! My husband said it taste like dessert! If you need directions on how to cook the squash let me know... |

Cinnamon is the key to reducing belly fat. This is already working for me- it is cool. I tried to include the link below, you may need to cut and paste in explorer. Gist: 1/4-1tsp a day will reduce belly fat. |

Dear Starsgobright, I am so sorry you are hurting like this. I know some days are more bleak than others, so hang on tight- there is hope. I think you would benefit from getting some professional help, it just takes one good Dr. to give that step up so you can be a more healthy, happy young lady. I can tell it is your hearts desire to be a healthy person, the road to get there just seems so hazy right now. You have the desire to do the right thing for you body, it is a step forward. I am praying for you and rooting for you too! |

| Weight Loss | Uh oh, I have to go to the buffet! Heeelp! | Sep 17 2007 06:21 (UTC) |

I just went to a buffet with my family, it all looked SOO good. I put equal portions of grilled chicken/mashed potatoes/veggies on my plate. Then I got a couple of very small cookies, so I would not have to walk back by everything. I was full, the meal was good and I have NO regrets for not stuffing myself silly. You can do this, make up your mind before you walk through the door that you are gonna enjoy your food and make good choices. Good Luck and Happy B-Day! |
