Pregnancy & Parenting I need the honest truth!! May 08 2008

Because you trained hard prior to pregnancy, the muscles are still there. Pre-pregnancy I was 112 (5'3") and gained real fast (10 lbs in 1st tri-mester 45 pounds total-up to 152). However, I exercised through my whole pregnancy. In the summer I 'ran' around the pool for 30 minutes almost every day. I think this was the best thing I could have done. I kid you not I dropped all the weight in 2 1/2 months. My son was born November 16 and by the end of January I was back down to 110. It fell off, I was so lucky. I did not starve myself or work out. I really believe it was because although I gained a lot on a small frame, I ate healthy and exercised during pregnancy. Two and a half years later I am 113. So YES IT IS POSSIBLE! Don't worry! If you were fit to begin with you should be just fine!

And you're beautiful btw-glowing :)

Vegetarian Can I eat as many veggies as I want? May 08 2008

I've been stir frying them in a 1 tsp of EVOO and I use fresh ground lemon pepper. I do not use any salt as much as I'd like to add a little. Its just not worth it.

I was so full last night by the amount of veggies I ate, I did not have any crazy binges; that made me quite happy :)

I logged all the veggies and was shocked at how little it added up to, and how full I was. Wow, I'm impressed...making them again for dinner :)

Haven't had any processed food today, I noticed how high the sodium is on those veggie burgers-not good for weight loss.

I've only eaten fruits, nuts and veggies and a few soy crisps, think I am heading in the right direction

Weight Loss 120's/110's club anyone? May 07 2008

Can I still join?

I'm 5'3"(technically 5'2.5" but who's counting) 113, would love to be 107-110 but happy to maintain 113 if its possible. Been hovering between 112-114 for a while now. Before I started CC I hovered from 115-119; having a 5 lb loss in my 'hover zone' has felt great, has made a huge difference in my life. 5 lbs can make or break a small framed, vertically challenged woman.

Oh and I am 36 and the proud mommy of a fantastic 2 1/2 yr old boy!

Cheers!

Adore cinnamon, tons in my morning coffee and tastes so good on clean popcorn instead of salt (yuck!) or butter (BLECH!).

Trader Joe's makes a lemon/black pepper grinder. Lemon and black pepper have to be my two of my favorite things, combined is just awesome. Douse my stir fried veggies in it-YUM

Thanks! I will defintely check it out, I appreciate it!

Faux meats meaning fish? I may try that. I really only eat it once or twice a month now, going to see if I can cut it out even more. I understand it should probably be a gradual process and when I'm truly ready.

Thanks again!

I want to know how the hell everybody manages to burn 1000 cals... Lol.

I work my ass off and all I ever manage to burn is 200. I need to work out with you guys :)

I am a stay at home mom too odie, and I find myself sitting at this damn computer more often than not. I have an eliptical but only do 30 min or so 3-4 times a week. However, I have found an activity I like that I do burn 1000 calories...

Hiking! It's fun and it kicks your butt literally... I highly recommend being one with nature and firming up your ass to everyone ;)

Also you can buy a food scale (got mine at Target) and measure out your snacks and put them in plastic bags. Those 100 calorie packs are great but way more expensive than a full size box of say chocolate teddy grahams (yes a weakness).I hate all the unnecessary packaging :(

LOL  i get the rolling of the eyes too!!!  and fruits?  and veges?  people don't want to hear that...

the same as far as people telling me i look good too!!!  yep...  i'm doing this for myself.  :D

i'm just like you, linde!  except that i do tell everyone that i'm losing weight.  well, they know anyway.  it's kind of hard for people not to notice that 75 pounds gone.  LOL  that's 34% of the old me!

them fruits & veges actually taste good if you give 'em 1/2 a chance.  :D

I am so happy for you snowfence! I have so much respect for people who decide to change their life and be healthy and happy. Losing weight is the major plus :)

And fruits and veggies are the best, I've learned that recently too. Geez they taste great, have hardly any calories and are good for you, why wouldn't everyone eat them! I have come to be a pescetarian through this process. I only eat fish, fruits and veggies right now, no other meat. Just don't like it anymore, it turns me off. I guess it really has for a long time but I became fully aware of it while embarking on this CC journey. I feel so much healthier eating right. So if people want to roll their eyes, let em, we look fabuulahs dahlin-we don't need their approval! Wink

I'm sort of new here the last few months and this is the first heated, personally attacking thread I've read. I'm used to the support and camaraderie often shown in the threads; I'm sort of shocked by this one but not surprised at all.

Weight Loss Curious Question for Weight Losers... May 03 2008

Whenever I mention trying to eat better or lose weight to any of my friends and family with the exception of maybe one or two, I get a rolling of the eyes. So I don't bother anymore. No one ever tells me when I'm looking good, so I seriously doubt they'd tell me if I looked bad (weight wise). So I keep all this to myself for the most part. It's no one's business but our own!

Peel off some or most of the cheese and don't eat the crust. This should save some calories. Drink water with every bite to fill you up :)

I log it. Black coffee is usually 5-9 calories. I use splenda but also use coffemate powder or will splurge on one of those liquids. My coffee is usually anywhere from 40-90 calories a cup depending on how much coffeemate I use.

I've only had one c-section and I'll tell you its been the biggest struggle ever since. I am also 5'3", (technically 5'2.5"), 36, and weigh in at 114 right now. I fluctuate between 112-118. My goal is 110 which I reached twice in the past couple of months through counting so I know its attainable. Maintaing it is an entirely different story. At 110 I do not seem t have a stomach, even though its soft when I sit. When I gain, it goes straight to my stomach. By the end of every day I look 4-5 months pregnant. I am fit everywhere else but always have this thick rolling waist I am so sick of, always bloated it seems. I have been thin my whole life and could always eat what I wanted. Always 105-110 so being 10 pounds heavier sucks. My appetite has been voracious lately too. My average has been about 1900 calories for the last week or so. And I hate exercise, but forced to do it. So ladies, I hear you loud and clear!

I do love oatmeal-that's a great idea, i'll try it! I like a half tsp of sugar on top, that won't kill me considering all the other bad things I do instead.

I just bought vitamuffins in deep chocolate, anyone try them yet? They score an A

100 cal, 6 g fiber, 3 g protein and 1.5 g fat. Filled me up too! Yum!

Thanks for all the great ideas! Now if only my mind could wrap around what I am doing at night and give me the strength to stop this bad behavior! I definitely have a bingeing problem, have always suffered with some form of ED since I was a teen. I guess trying to get to the deeper rooted issues is the only way to cure these problems (I am a psych major). Something is definitely triggering my poor eating habits at night.

I just tried 'all whites' for the first time. I only eat the whites so I thought it was a waste to always throw away the yolks (although I do give a couple of them to my dog). So far so good, they taste the same and all I have to do is pour them out of the container rather than crack and separate the eggs :)

Well since it is impossible for me to only eat 1200 calories a day to lose any weight, I decided to get off my butt and step up the exercise now that the nice weather is here. I have hiked 5 times in the last week for a minimum of 1 hour each time (usually 2 hours). Today we pushed real hard and did an extremely strenuous hike for almost 3 hours! I figured I burned over 1000 calories in the 80+ degree weather so I am psyched Laughing yay!
