Thankyou for all the kind well wishes!

I have been having some very persistent heartburn the past couple weeks & eating TUMS like crazy. A friend told me last night to eat GRAPES & that would get rid of the heartburn. IT FRICKEN WORKED!!! I was shocked! Did ya'll know about this? Am I this behind on the times?? Anywho, thought I'd let ya'll know in case you were like me & had no idea the magic grapes had. :)

Hey ya'll! I around, just not really, around. If that makes any sense.

Found out that I am about 6 weeks pregnant! We are all so excited, but I am pretty tired. Plan to get back in to walking, preferrably daily, once I can get everything a bit under control. Lots of moodiness, heartburn, serious lack of appetite & energy is pretty much non existent. I've lost 4 pounds this week. Mostly from not eating much. I force myself to eat something, but it really sux to have NO appetite. Cravings would be nice, at least I would want to eat! It will ease up tho & now that we have the air conditioners put in, I can walk in the house & not pass out from a heat stroke!!

Pray you all are having a wonderful weekend & am SO PROUD of everyone's amazing success! Ya'll ROCK!!

QUESTION OF THE WEEKEND (MAY 31/JUNE 1)

Do you eat different foods in the summer? (More salads? More fruit?)

Oh yeah, I definately crave salads & fresh fruit more in the summer!

QUESTION OF THE DAY - THURSDAY MAY 29

What have you done today to burn calories?

MOLLY

I did my usual housework, chase after kids. No walking Thursday, as Tuesday, I walked 2 miles, then proceeded to layout 11 - 40pound bags of top soil to prep my flower garden. When I got up Thursday, my hamstrings were smartin, so I took a day off. Tonight, I will be planting the flowers!

QUESTION OF THE DAY: WED MAY 28:

What proteins have you eaten today (or will you eat today?)

MOLLY

I've had bacon (half a piece), fish & beef(cheeseburger) for dinner!

ETA: No cheeseburger for dinner. I was NOT hungry after lunch. I did eat some popcorn, which was yummy, cept for the burnt part. *sigh*

Wow, I have been a craptastic poster in this thread! SORRY ya'll! I promise to do better.

I'll start w/ the holiday weekend. I had a wonderful memorial weekend. My birthday was Monday, so I had a birthday WEEKEND! wooohoooo We got a few house projects completed, which was awesome. Went to a cookout on Sunday & had a GREAT time. Even played some volleyball, which was so fun & counts as exerise! yaaaaay

Yesterday, I got back to walking w/ Leslie, as I was sick for 2 weeks & wasn't able to walk w/ Leslie & co. I was up to 2 miles before I got sick, so I yesterday I did a mile. Lord have mercy, that was one rough mile!! GAH! It sux that my endurance took such a hit in mere 2 weeks. Frown  However, this morning I walked TWO miles! WOOOHOOO  Yeah, I was breathig like I ran the Boston Marathon & looked ragged as sin, but I did it dammit! Laughing

Now, for the questions I have missed b/c I have been bad, bad thread member...

QUESTION OF THE DAY: MAY 21

What is your target breakdown of fats / proteins / carbs .... and WHY?

Errrrr, ummmmm, well, see..... ok, I have no flippen clue. I am trying to make better food choices & listening to my body when I am full.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: MAY 22

What's one so-called "diet food" that you really detest/dislike/avoid/hate?

Is MOST of them a valid answer? There are very FEW 'diet foods' that are even edible for my palate. I like Lipton Diet White Raspberry Tea!! Yummy!! (the new berry flavor is pretty tasty too!)

QUESTION OF THE DAY ... SOMETHING'S FISHY!

Do you like fish? Do you eat fish? What sort of fish will you eat? And do you take a fish-oil supplement? (What the heck, do you own fish?)

Yes, I like fish. Yes, I eat fish. I eat fish that has been cleaned, deboned, cut in convenient portions, pre-seasoned w/ lemon & garlic butter, grilled & placed in my grocers freezer! heehee I also enjoy batter dipped fish that is not good for my body, but tastes sooooo good going into my body. I do not take any fish oil supplements, but have been seriously considering it. Do they work or are they effective? I do not own any fish yet, BUT, I DO have a lil fish tank that will home a couple tiny fishies very soon!!

QUESTION OF THE WEEKEND ....

What special dieting challenges will you face (or did you face) this Memorial Day Weekend? And what's your plan for dealing with those challenges?

The biggest challenge was not overeating. Yeah right. It was my birthday weekend remember? Altho, I didn't do as bad as I used too. 'Cept for the cookout...Lord have mercy, I was wadling like a pregnant woman in her 9th month. But the food was AWESOME. mmmmmmm

QUESTION OF THE DAY (MONDAY MAY 26)

Do you have a favorite day of the week for getting weighed?

I like weighing in on Fridays, before the weekend begins. I do so well w/ my routine during the week, but the weekends tend to be brutal on my schedule. So, I like Friday's so I can see how my progress has been during the week, plus I have till next Friday to get back on track from the weekend.

Question of the Day (Tuesday 5/27) ...

Do you tend to eat the same basic breakfast every day, most of the time, or do you switch it around a lot?  Are you happy with your breakfast?

I have no set breakfast. Actually, I am proud of the fact that I even EAT breakfast now. I was a breakfast skipper most of my life. I typically eat oatmeal, whole wheat blueberry bagels w/ cream cheese, toaster scrambles, cereal or eggs. I like a lot of options! lol

WHEW! I am finally caught up! YAY. Hope ya'll are having a great hump day!! ~RM

Hello all! Had a wonderful holiday/birthday weekend! My birthday was yesterday, so I claimed the whole weekend...lol. We had a great time & were even able to get some house projects done! wooohooo  Still gotta get my flowers planted tho.

Back to my walking today! Walked a mile, thought about trying 2, but seeing as I was huffing after the WARM UP, I was thrilled to make it though a mile! lol

I've gained 2lbs, but I ain't stressing. AF will be arriving anyday(actually she's a lil late...I ain't complainin' tho! lol) so I know I have bloating. Not to mention my face is swollen....ahhhh, the perks of being a woman! But, I am back on track, competely feeling 100% again & lovin the beautiful spring weather!!!

Congrats on goin back to school jericho! As for the pounds, you may not have gained back near as much as you think! Try to incorporate daily exercise first & then try to get your eating back on track. Even if you aren't eating as clean as you want to, exercising your body is still gonna benefit you, not to mention, you feel good afterwards. Isn't weird that something we dread so much can make us feel so good once we do it? Boggles my mind!

It is great to read the amazing progress everyone is making & I hope all of you are having a wonderful Tuesday!!

jericho, that is why you started this thread, to support one another in this weight loss journey. Good times & bad, not only when we are doing great, but ESPECIALLY when we are struggling, we all need this thread & the wonderful support it offers. You are aware of your emotional/binge eating & to me, realizing this about yourself is the 1st step to recovering from it. I pray you are able to find the support you desire & I also pray we offer some support to you as well. Stay strong & believe in yourself, you WILL be healthy & happy.

I must apologize for my lack of participation these past weeks too. Myself & the entire family were sick w/ upper respiratory infections. NOT FUN. I am finally feeling back to ALMOST normal, but am really bummed that the sickness forced me to stop my exercise routine. :(  I had been doing so well, so consistent, then I got sick & BAM! no walking for 2 dayum weeks. I am getting back in gear tho. I am gonna walk a mile today, tomorrow & Thursday & try to increase up to 2 miles by Friday. Lord willing, I will be comepletely over this mess by then!

For me, I have to start the day drinking water. If I start off w/ coffee or pop, it is downhill from there. Yet, if I begin my day w/ water, I find I drink my needed amount, no problem. I also drink a glass of water(typically 8oz) before I eat a meal or snack, everytime. A lot of the time, I learn I was thirsty, not hungry, which really helps w/ calories! lol

Great idea molly & something I found to join when it actually started...& not a few months after! lol

My 75 day goals are:

1) EXERCISE!! I will walk at least 4 days a week & do one of my fitness DVD's on alternating days. (Lord know I have enough of those to not get bored!)

2) MEAL PLAN!! My life is SO much easier when I plan my meals. I know what I am cooking, which eliminates the last minute fast food run when I don't know what ot fix & DH is too impatient to wait.  (Not to mention we eat healthier AND SAVE money!)

3) WATER, WATER, WATER!! I have to drink at least 100oz a day. Keeps everything moving & I just feel better.

ETA: Veggies in my house right NOW? Oh molly, did you HAVE to go there? Ummmmm, well, I have....uhhhh...canned green beans, canned corn, canned peas, frozen peas, frozen cauliflower florets w/ cheese(ok, ok, they are prolley freezer burnt, but I DO have them!), baby carrots and, and, that is it. *sigh* I am so not a veggie person. I enjoy the veggies I mentioned & that is about it. I randomly eat salads, but I gotta be in the mood for them. Perhaps I should add a fourth goal...VEGGIES! Undecided

Morning everyone! I am down 2 pounds, to 282. Personally, I know I could have done better, since AF left, but my eating wasn't the best, so I'll take those 2 pounds & sing a happy song!

I am so proud of myself today...I walked TWO MILES with Leslie! YAAAAAY. Man, I so did not wanna get out of bed, been fighting a sinus infection, but I made myself get up. I planned this week to increase from one mile to two, but felt so crappy I thought, "If I can get through this 1 mile, I'll be thrilled." (in a very non-thrilled mentality). Once I hit that first mile tho, I felt alright, so I kept going. Gotta admit tho, I was bought ready to kick Leslie right outta the tv waiting for that stankin 2mile!! Felt like it took forever! But, I feel better, so that makes it worth it.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!Laughing

Hi all!! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!

lonestarpenny, thanks for the sweet words! Sometimes my sense of humor gets me in trouble, but I can't help it. It just comes naturally. heehee

I could have been better, but I could have been worse eating wise this weekend, so it all works out! ;)  Didn't walk w/ Leslie at all this weekend, poor thing prolley thinks I abandoned her. I put her back in the DVD player tho, so she better be ready for me in the mornin! (who am I kidden, she's gonna walk me under the table...but I ain't skeered. Surprised ) I always feel so much better when I walk in the morning, but when DH is home, I notice I skip my morning walks. I have to correct that....starting this week. When his days off arrive, I am gonna continue to get up & walk.

larienkids2, Don't Give up!! You may feel alone, but truly you aren't, we are all here for ya! And your half sis, she could probably be a great source of motivation too, since she is having success using the CC format. My hubby is BARELY chubby(as in he needs to lose about 10 pounds....the creep), so I understand about DH not being in this with you. But ya know what, you stick with this for you & then DH is gonna see that while it is not easy to get healthy it IS possible, you just have to stick with it!

stephtobea9, I didn't answer about the rest of my family, I apologize, I didn't read that part! :(  Growing up, my parents were overweight, my mom moreso than my dad. My brother & sister both were chubby as kids, thinned out as teenagers & plumped up as adults. My brother is at least 100 pounds overweight & my sister is about 40 pounds overwieght. My dad developed type 2 diabetes about 10 years ago, & controls it through eating & very low dose insulin pills. (he is a healthy weight & has been for about 8 years). My mom...whew. She is VERY overweight...clinically obese for her size. She eats maybe twice a day(usually once) & has little to no exercise. I worry for her & have tried to get her to follow this program with me, but no go. She always has an excuse or reason, so she obviously isnt ready. I worry for her tho, because in her mind she is losing weight, but looking at her, it is painfully apparent she isn't. If anything, she is getting bigger. :(  I worry she will also develop diabetes, or some other health condition casued be her weight. Lord willing, as she continues to see me progress(cause I Will be successful at losing this weight once & for all dammit!) it will inspire her to want to get healthy too!

Forgot to post my weekly stats...AF is paying a visit, so I am up 2 pounds this week, 286.5. The b!tch. I believe next week will be a lot better tho! (least, I pray it is.) Been walking my mile with Leslie every morning this week & even ventured into mile #2 this morning. (for a total of 1.25 miles). WHEW. At least my endurance is improving, but woooweeee, I got a long way to go! lol

Hope everyone is having a great morning...we have sunshine here! woooohooooo   Wink

I wasn't always big weight wise(altho I always thought I was HUGE! jeeeesh). I was a healthy weight until I had to start working as a teenager & entered the world of fast food & lack of exercise. (I worked at Long John Silver's!)

I gained about 70 pounds over the course of 4 years & decided at the age of 22, I'd had enough. So, I Slim Fasted/Metbolife'd my way down to 200 pounds & stayed there for 3 years....until I got preggers with our first daughter. I was in great shape during the pregnancy until I developed pre-eclampsia & was put on bed rest in my 5th month. It was downhill from there. =(  I gained almost 60 pounds with her, worked my way down to about 230 before getting preggers again with daughter #2 in 2004. Had her in 2005 & in 2006, started back on Slim Fast...to the tune of gaining 11 pounds! Quit that & decided to get serious about losing this weight the right way...no drugs or magic shakes or wacky diets. Found this site, then Paul McKenna & am on my way to a healthy me!

Hi monoxi! I am still using the techniques & enjoying continued success. I have lost 12.5 pounds(in 5 weeks) so far & will weigh in tomorrow. (ToM is here, so I expect a minimal gain or to stay the same...no big.) Since using these techniques, I have also unexpectedly found ToM to be cramp free, mood swing mild & craving controllable. Talk about a miracle in itself! Not sure how, why or really care how it is doing it, just thrilled it is!

Also started walking a mile(aiming for 5 miles a week to start), which is huge for me! Feel great after walking & am so happy to have the desire & motivation to WANT to exercise.

Hope you had a great weekend!

WOW penny, that is FABULOUS!! You should be so proud & I am thrilled your Dr. recognized your amazing progress!

WOOOHOOOO I finally have the pedometer & it helps a lot to let me know how active I have been & how much more I need to do. Bought a Leslie Sansone DVD & will start getting up in the a.m., before the kids get up, to walk. Pretty excited! Great job to all of us, we can do this!! Hope everyone is having a great day! ~RM

Still with ya'll! Took me bit to find the thread! lol

I check in everyday, but haven't had much time to post. I will try to do better at that tho! I am fine with Monday weigh in's. Another group I joined died off, so I guess the day I weigh in doesn't matter all that much.

Still doing well & found Leslie's 3 mile Walk with belt. Also got a pedometer. I am pretty impressed how excited & determined I am about exercise. It is so wonderful to finally be successful at getting control over food & my life....rather than it controlling me!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! It is supposed to rain all weekend here. yay.

Original Post by star_dust_03:

I watched the first episode and I don't agree that you should eat what you want, when you want it.. I mean, yeah to a certain extent but he says make a list of all the foods that you love (pizza, nachos, etc.) and go to the grocery store and buy them.

He teaches you to 'eat sensibly' but come on, IMO if you have all that stuff laying around your house you are much more likely to binge and fail. Seems like you are kinda seting yourself up for failure.. isn't the point of losing weight, is being healthy too.. i don't get how eating nachos sensibly is gonna help me become more healthy..

It seems like that would be the case, but in actuality, it is BECAUSE you can eat what you want that the need to binge disappears. Not to mention, after chewing something 20 times, you learn real quick that healthier foods actually taste better. As Paul says, this program flies in the face of the 'diet' mentality, but ya know what, it Works. I have had more success in one month of this program, eating what I WANT, than months of eating 'healthy cardboard' that yielded next to nil weight loss. Different strokes for different folks, but I am thankful I learned these techniques & continue to be amazed at how effective they are.

I apologized to my mom; and now to you guys. I DID overreact; I just need to learn to talk calmly without bursting into tears. I've been a "sensitive" kid since second grade, but I really need to get over that.

I explained things to her and I think it's going to be alright. I didn't say I'd be better off dead since I might have to eat differently; it just never seems like anyone cares about me or talks to me anymore.

Awww sweetie, ya don't have to apologize to us! I am young enough to remember being a teenager & trust me, your emotional reactions aer NORMAL. (actually, as you get older, you prolley will still be emotional, but able to anticipate it! that's how it works for me! lol)

I am so glad you talked it over with your mom. That was really mature of you, you should be proud of yourself! (Ok, bit of truth from me....at your age, I'd prolley still be in my bedroom bulling, thinkin how horrible mom was to me! lol)

What is important is that you feel better & you were able to communicate how you feel with your mom. That hon, is priceless. I believe there are many who care about you, even if you don't see it. The beauty of this forum, when ya need to vent, there are always those willing to read along with ya! =)

Hope you have a great rest of the day! ~RM

Awwwww hon, a mother HATES to see her child sick. period. Sounds like your mom freaked because she is scared you may develop an eating disorder & no person needs to have that type of illness. Once you BOTH calm down, try to talk to your mom. Explain to her how important it is to YOU that you DON'T eat animals. As for the calories burned in exercise, maybe educate her a bit by showing her this site. Once she sees how many calories are burned in a set amount of time, she will relax.

I know it doesn't seem like it, but it is BECAUSE your mom loves you that she is upset. I have 2 daughters & I pray I am able to communicate them as they get older, rather than talk AT them.

Hope you feel better soon hon! ~RM

Weight Loss Anyone out there looking to drop 100 lbs?!? Apr 14 2008

Best of Luck to you beautiful-stranger!

Hello to all of our new posters!Smile

Things are going well for me....fantastic actually. My scale has been giving me numbers that just do NOT correlate with the way my clothes fit(I have dropped a size) & how I look. I was at my dad's yesterday, used his scale & it said I weighed 288! Surprised (my scale at home has had me at 300!) So, I asked dad how accurate his scale was. He said it was set with his doctors office, that way he could accurately track his weight, so it was accurate. (he is a type 2 diabetic) Then, my nephew says, "I was just at the doctor Friday, lemme on there, I'll see if it is the same". So, he gets on & he weighs the same as he did at his doctors visit. So, lo & behold, I REALLY weigh 288! I like to think less, since I weighed myself at night with all my clothes & shoes on! (My cardinal rule-only weigh in the am, after I pee & only in undies/panties! lol I need all the help I can get! ;) ) So, I am pretty dayum happy. Now, my weight actually MATCHES my clothes sizing & how I look. Stoopid ass scale. At least now I have an accurate idea of my weight.

Hope everyone had a great weekend as well! (maybe some others managed to drop 12 pounds in a day! lol) ~RM
