the scales work for me. when i see the scales move  even if it is just down  half a pound, that keeps me inspired  to  keep at it . you can step on your scale and see  that you lost a pound   this week from all your hard work.. but you can't look in the mirror and see that you lost a pound. it takes losing  more then a pound for the mirror to inspire you or help keep you on track. just my thoughts on it i  step on my scale every morning .

when you hit a plateau it gets so frustrating. i did for like 3 weeks i  changed things around  like tried  more protein less carbs  .. then more carbs less protein. neither broke the plateau. so then i tried to just count my calories   and forget  about if they came from carbs or protein and today i was down 1 lb  not much but hay.its better then 3 weeks seeing noting . :)

thanks melkor i remember that and stay away from whole seeds :) trying to get the weight off sure is a battle when you can't get the scales to move for a couple a weeks so depressing :(

do you add the flax seed oil to your food or use it like you olive oil for cooking?

yeah it can get very frustrating trying to figure out what  is going to work best for us. i'm not training for anything  just trying to get the weight off  and be healthy. i'm 5'3  and stuck between 191 and 189. i try to keep my calorie intake  around 1300.

guess i best stick with it then and wait it out maybe the scales will start moving again without having to give up the carbs  a diet would be pretty dull without them.

thanks Coach for your reply i guess its just how the numbers look since   you hear a lot now about how  you need to cut your carbs to lose weight. i was wondering by looking at that if i was having to many carbs in my diet and that's why i'm stuck  going back and forth from 189 to 191, although its not often  do my carb intake reach 206 grams.

hi southcarolinaguy I hope your right because i have a lot more then that to lose . 175 is my first mini goal that i would like to reach by Christmas. i really want to get to about 135-140 but that a looooooooong way down and at this rate it's going to take me a long time to get there .

 my exercise include  walking , stationary bike , elliptical, or with  an exercise ball  usually 30 -40 minutes   3 days a week .. i'm 47 and 5'3     so am i eating to many calories?  or not enough? or could this be just a stall?

i try and keep my calorie intake  around 1300 , i exercise  3  days a week ..i don't drink milk but i do get my full daily servings of veggies and fruits. i eat red meat about once a week sometimes not even that the rest of the times its chicken, turkey or fish. I love bread but try and keep it at 2 or 3 slices a day  and thats always whole wheat.

snozzberries  my exercise routine  has stayed the same    usually 2-3 times a week . MY  dinner meal is the one with the most calories..i don't know its just gets so frustrating  to  watch everything that go in your mouth and then in the end  see that you  gained  .. sometimes just makes me want to give it all up.

LOL i hear you. maybe we do obsess to much over the number on the scale . But DAMN it looks so good and feels so good when you step on there and see lower number on the scale.

thanks for the reply v850434 i will have to try that. For the water part i drink 4-5 500ml bottles  a day. when your trying so hard  and go 3 or 4 days see nothing happening and then when you do  see a  change it's up 1.5lbs gets to be very discouraging . It's like all the hard work is for nothing. :(

yes i did  my weight stayed the same but i still logged it, so do there have to be a drop or a  gain in my weight for the the graph to work?

hi connie sue if your using the site caloriecount.about.com then i don't think they have it yet or at least i can't find it..but someone did say that the old  CCC site got it  but i haven't used that site so i don't know but it would be real nice to have it here.

to make this drink  can you use bottled lemon juice or does it have to be  juice squeezed from a fresh lemon? and how much lemon juice would you use?

it's happened to me to. i can't figure that out either why something with less fat less sugar and less calories gets a worst rating.. something is not right here.

guess i should try that because i to eat most of my calories at dinner ..on average most days my calorie intake is  around the 1300 but there are days that it drop to 1000 thats why i  said 1000-1300.
