| Thank you for all of the responses. I don't know if it is just my doubting personality but I am always skeptical of what I am REALLY getting on a menu eating and drinking out. But I do like the idea to drink a few before I go out so I can control my own destiny to a point. Maybe I should start HOSTING more often and staying home and drinking and dancing with friends. It would def save me lots of $$$ in the long run as well. THANKS AGAIN!! | |||

It's kind of hard to believe (harder for some of us) that we have the same amount of fat cells we were born with. Mine looked lots better swaddled in that hospital blanket in my first picture!! |

| Weight Loss | Anyone else in the over 200 range? | Oct 12 2007 17:21 (UTC) |

| Hi, I am relatively new. Started end of September. I am 31, 5'3", weigh 240's. I have not been heavy all my life. I was a cheerleader, volleyball, and softball player in HS. I was severeley sick with my 1st pregnancy and put on more than 6 months bedrest at which time my muscle turned to jiggle and I gained over 100 lbs. Another baby later and I pretty much just gave up. It is a viscious cycle of getting fat and knowing you need to work out but being too embarrassed to go out and exercise-at least for me it is. I am realistic that I will never be 105 again but I would be really happy at about 140 and have accepted that to do it the healthy way, it will be at least a 2 year journey. I am OK with that. I also know that because I like food so much there is no way to completely cut out everything I crave. I know the key for me is going to be getting up and moving!! So I am right there at the 100 pounds to lose mark. Oddly though I am so overweight, even my doctor is surprised to see that I weigh so much. he said that I hide it fairly well. I do tend to have a muscular/athletic type body and my weight is distributed pretty evenly, though I can def tell that my bum, hips and thighs wear alot of that. I figure as long as too many people don't have to see me naked then it can stay my little secret!! ;) | |||

| When I was preggers, my hubby went on a late night binge run for ice cream for me. He went to DQ and I said I wanted a blackberry sundae. If they didn't have that I wanted marshmallow. He thought I said I wanted both mixed together. FANTASTIC!!! I love smore's so I would like a chocolate, golden graham, and marshmallow fluff stripe ice cream. What about a cocoa rice crispies flavor ice cream? I must stop this because I am salivating as I type. Must go get a bib!! | |||

| Thanks for the replies. I think (besides the forum feedbacks) that the most useful tool is the food log and cal counters. I never realized how the condiments, bits of this and bites of that were adding up. Now that I have to put them down it is a very conscious decision I am making because my goal is to be honest on hear with myself first which means thousands of other people will see what I scarfed down if I decide to binge. I know it sounds innocent, but this girl can EAT!!!! So, if not only out of vanity for the readers, I shall improve my diet and make smarter choices. An eater I am but a food log liar I AM NOT!! | |||

| No in my quest to buy that "celebrity trainer" "readin it alone will get you skinny book", I picked up Harvey Pasternak (trainer to the stars) 5 factor diet book. In it he mentioned actually flourless bread or no flour, stating the package would say so right on the front. I have yet to find them, but I don't think he lives around here either. ;) That's why I was wondering if anyone had discovered a brand of bread for it I could ask around for. | |||

| Recipes | any low cal spaghetti recipes? | Sep 18 2007 22:08 (UTC) |

| My dad used to make a really great recipe he called summer spaghetti. It was very light even though a bit higher in calories than most of us here would like to have. I would love ideas on how to lighen it up. You take 1 head cauliflower florets, 1 broccoli florets, and 1/4 diced onion and sautee in 2 Tbsp. olive oil. He used to always put in 1 package summer sausage cut into quarter sized pieces, then cut in fourths as well. Boil 1 package spaghettii as directed, cook to al dente, then toss with sauteed sausage, veggies, 1 palm full of Italian seasonings ( I always added a bit more Oregano), and 1/4 cup parmesan cheese. Of course this makes a tremendous amount (enough for a family) but it was lighter than a traditional meat and tomato sauce and it hit most food groups in one serving. I suppose a turkey sausage could substitute. Any other ideas to lighten it? If you try it how it is I guarantee you'll love it if you like all that stuff! | |||

| Weight Loss | Has anyone tried Phentramine; an OTC diet pill? | Sep 18 2007 16:07 (UTC) |

| I am an R.N. that has taken Phentermine in the past. I will say this: I am currently considering going back for a prescription. I would ONLY take it under a DR.'s supervision due to the side effects that can sometimes accompany it. Every drug you put in your system is going to carry a risk of side effects. Some are worse than others. This drug helped me acheive higher energy levels and suppressed appetite. I found that the headaches that came with it were a result of not eating because this medication is so appetite suppressing. You really have to be aware of the last meal you had because it was often dinnertime and I would have a headache from not eating anything all day. That was a problem I never had to deal with before!! I was able to lose weight quickly and UNFORTUNATELY effortlessly. I was not ready to make the committment to truly change myself at the time. I am in that place now. Last time I was taking the med, I asked several of the doctors at the hospital I worked at what they thought. I got mixed reviews, primarily because we don't know the long term effects. Phentermine is one half of the popular Phen-Fen med many took in the past. The OTHER drug was causing some serious heart problems for a lot of people hence some class action lawsuits. Many doctors refused to prescribe the Phentermine because of all the lawsuits. The drug was removed but further testing was done on Phentermine, which remains to be FDA approved. I am not saying this drug will prove to be safe in the future, but I think that many people facing bigger health issues could benefit from the "kick-start" Phentermine can give them. It is not a cureall for obesity, but for someone ready to make the sacrifices and lifelong decision to change their habits, it can be a tool to push them forward at the beginning which is usually the roughest. I do not reccommend buying any prescription through those internet pharmacies ever. You never know what you are getting! | |||

MSN homepage 16. Anything Else You'd Like To Share? I am sure some of you can relate...I don't talk about my weight, my friends are all thin and eat what they want without gaining, and my hubby is thin..I am not the type that is self-motivating and I need to hear that positive reinforcement or I tend to fall further down and think my goals are impossible. It is always easier to be lazy then to get up and moving. I am here to have someone kick me in the butt and tell me like it is! That is the kind of motivation I need (and don't worry I won't get mad because once I hear it I know it is true!). I hope to find someone or someones that can give me what I need and give them what they need from me. |

| Hi there! I would love to join your group as well. A little about myself- I was a bit heavy as a child, became really active and maintained a 115-120 lbs throughout high school.I got pregnant my senior year by a jerk that I was in a very physically abusive relationship with. My pregnancy became fragile and I almost lost the baby several times. As a result I was put on bedrest for 6 months.I ended up gaining over 100 lbs!! Well I had my daughter and only stayed with him for about 6 months but never had the motivation to lose it. My mom swears that I kept the weight on for protective measures and now that it had been 13 years I know she was right. I did end up losing weight after I left him-down to a size 10 but met my new hubby that is fabulous, got married, and had another baby. I have felt hopeless since! I have continued to spiral into a state of depression which completely zaps the motivation right out of you! I am an emotional eater (stress, boredom, nerves, excitement) and I have gotten to the point that I am embarrassed to join a gym for fear I will run into someone I haven't seen in a long time. Every time I see pictures I am just horrified at what I have become. I know how to eat, what to eat, and how to exercies, I just cannot stay motivated. I am hoping to meet others in the same boat as me to inspire and be inspired. And if my hands are busy on the keyboard, I cannot be shoveling crap into my mouth either!! I would really like to help and receive support from those of you dealing with similar issues! Thanks! | |||
