| Foods | Chicken Quesadilla - good or bad | Oct 30 2007 18:12 (UTC) |

As of right now (about 2pm) I have had about 64 ounces of water. I am working for the next 4 hours so I will be refilling my cup soon. That was a guestimation on the amount of chicken, they used a ladel-type thing to get the chicken so I don't even know for sure if it would be considered a cup or not. It was also grilled without any seasoning on it. I also have about 700-800 calories left for the day so I should be good there too. Thanks for your input!! |

It seems like right before I start I get this burst of energy and I can clean house all day long. Then the next day I will start and I don't feel like doing anything. Mom said that your body knows its going to be down for a few days so it gives you a burst of energy before to help you prepare. Sounds crazy but I have heard of pregnant women doing the same thing. Either way, I usually do feel huge and fat while I am on my period and the day I get off I feel so much better! I end up running in and out of the bathroom though to get rid of the excess water that I was holding on to. |

Yes, I agree with everyone above. According to the CC guidelines, women should not take in any less than 1200 calories a day. If you don't eat enough your body is going to latch on to what you do eat - meaning you won't have any waste to get rid of. If you do eat more calories and you still can't go, there is something we (at the hospital) refer to as the 'brown bomb.' That is Milk of Magnesium and prune juice mixed together. If that doesn't make you go, then I would suggest seeing a doctor. More than likely, in your case, if you eat more you will be able to go. |

Ooh Ooh, my turn!!
Dear Body, I would like to start by thanking you. You have been in general good health. You haven't given me any big problems. Regardless of how many times I have let you down - you have never let me down. I am very sorry for all the years I have abused you. All the times that I ate and ate until you were sore and miserable. I am sorry that I haven't had any control when it came to food. I am sorry that I have let you go and neglected you. I have put gluttony in front of you and that was very wrong of me. I am making a new start in life and I vow to start listening to you more. To watch more closely the stuff that I put into you. I will also try to start giving you the workouts that you so desperately need to get you back into shape. After all, round is a shape - but it isn't a good shape for you. Love always! Dianne |

I agree with Archer 100%. I have watched the Biggest Loser quite a bit and I find that it is very encouraging! It makes me want to get off the couch and exercise just by watching it. It also puts hope in people like me that need to lose about 100 pounds. It shows that it can be done! To be totally honest - I have went so far as to see how you would get on the show. I was all for it. I mean, hey you are surrounded by a personal trainer, easy access to gym equipment, and with it being televised, it would be a great motivational tool. The only thing stopping me is my job. They would never allow me to take off that much time to get it done. I think that it is low of the guy to drink 2 gallons of water like that. It is cheating but bottom line, cheaters never win. When it gets closer to the end, I doubt he will be so lucky. |

I am 27 and still have the same problem. My parents live with me. I can afford to buy my own groceries but even though I am the only one dieting in the house I still find the stuff that I buy that is healthier gets ate just as quickly as the junk my mom buys. It kind of annoys me. I bought a small tub of butter that is lite so I have it when I want toast or something and instead of mom using her big tub of the regular stuff to cook - she uses mine! UGH! But I was reading your profile and I couldn't help but notice that you feel miserable if you eat more than 500 calories. Please tell me that its 500 calories a meal and not for the whole day!! If you starve yourself like that you will get skinnier, but you will, by no means, be healthy. Especially since you are not fully grown yet. Don't deprive your body of the stuff that it needs to help you grow up into a healthy young adult!! If you are at a healthy weight right now then work out more to help tone the areas you don't like. But don't try to lose any more weight - that is how anorexia starts. |

1. Strapping my 6 year old and my 4 year old nieces to me. That, in itself if depressing for me. I don't even know for sure if my two nieces together would even weigh 90 pounds. I could probably still strap my dog on somewhere to equal that. That is just depressing. Makes me want to stop eating altogether!! |

| One thing I have done is I will buy an ordinary side salad from the hospital cafeteria and add a good pile of banana peppers to it. Not only is it delicious but it makes the salad much more interesting without adding very many calories to it. Yum-O!! | |||

| I use water to help me feel full. I drink water before I eat, while I am eating a meal, and then after I have eaten. It works tremendously. Also if you are eating a smaller meal - try a side salad on the side. The side salad makes you fill up faster. Good luck! | |||

Original Post by sjshalott: Hey, I don't know if you have a place like this where you are...but here in Indy there is a consignmant shop where you can take all your clothes and trade them in for new ones. I have a co-worker that keeps losing weight and instead of buying more clothes all the time - she takes her old ones in and exchanges them for smaller sizes. She does this everytime she loses enough weight where her clothes don't fit anymore. I know Platos closet does something similar to this. It's worth checking out. |

| Weight Loss | Do cats cause weight gain?? (tongue in cheek) | Oct 19 2007 17:49 (UTC) |

This thread is so silly that I can't believe that I actually read the whole thing. We have never been able to have cats because my dad is severly allergic to them. And even though I don't own a cat - I am still overweight. So I guess in my case I should ask if being a dog owner makes you gain weight. I have 3 doggies. I already know that that is definitely not true. As much as I run back and forth with letting them out and in, I should be skinny! Not to mention the whole 'pee' episode with one of the puppies. If I had a camera I would have won for America's Funniest Home video! I got to share it, it is too funny. We have a Jack Russell who is about 6 months old now. For some reason some female dogs will pee if they get excited or scared. Well, I was cleaning the kitchen and I looked over in time to see Dollar peeing on my newly-mopped floor. So, I yelled at her - which scared her so she ran from me. Since she was scared she was peeing the whole time I was chasing her. I chased her all over the kitchen and by the time it was all over the entire kitchen floor was covered!! I then, had to re-mop the whole thing. If you want an animal that will help you lose weight - I would highly recommend a Jack Russell. They are very hyper and energetic and they will get out and jog right along with you. I can't even keep up with our 7 year old JRT! |

| Foods | Sweet 'N Low: to use or not to use. | Oct 19 2007 16:08 (UTC) |

Thanks for all the speedy replies. I would also like to think that if it was really true about Sweet N' Low causing cancers and stuff then the FDA would have pulled it from the shelves ages ago. I like S&L better because it only takes one packet of it to get it the way I like it. For me to use sugar it would take me anywhere from 2-4 packets to get it right. Since I have been using it for a little over a year now and haven't experienced anything wierd then I am just going to stick to it. Thanks again!! |

| I would love to join. I am 27 and work at a hospital as a secretary. Its hard to exercise when your job requires me to sit most of the day. But I am 5'6" and I currently weigh 228. When I first started about 3 weeks ago I weighed 240. I am trying to get to my goal weight of 140-145 by August 14, 2009. But I hope to be over halfway there by August 14, 2008. | |||

| Weight Loss | When do you eat your most calories | Oct 12 2007 15:27 (UTC) |

Depends on what day of the week it is. During the week I eat my big meal at lunch time - I never know what time I am going to get off work and I don't want to get off at 7:30pm and go home and eat a huge meal. So I eat a good lunch and go home and eat something light. On the weekends, I am with my bf and we tend to eat out alot so I save most of my calories for dinner. Tonight he is taking me to Olive Garden so I will be eating somthing really light for lunch!!! |

| Weight Loss | Do you get offered a table and a booth? | Oct 12 2007 15:14 (UTC) |
13 |
I don't usually mind which one I get - if I do get a booth the only part of me that seems to hang over the table is my boobs. I have lost 11 pounds so far and I think I lost it all from my chest area!! But I can definitely see where the problem is. Certain restaurants that don't allow any room between the bench and the table I have had to move the table out until I can get in, then I can usually pull it back once I am settled. I swear though, these places like Texas Roadhouse that won't give their nutrition info (probably because all their food is so bad that people wouldn't eat there if they knew the truth) have the smallest booth sittings, its ridiculous. I did eat a salad there one time thinking that it would be okay....it was like 900 calories for a salad!!!! And they wonder why half of the population is obese. |

| Weight Loss | Best time to weigh yourself? | Oct 12 2007 15:05 (UTC) |
7 |
I have always heard that the best time to weigh yourself is in the morning right after you wake up and especially after you have went to the bathroom. Your body digests food while you are asleep so when you wake up your stomach is empty, your bladder will be empty after you go to the bathroom, and I think its best to do it naked. Otherwise, you subtract like 5 pounds for clothing and shoes and stuff. One other thing - make sure that you use the same scale and weigh at the same time. Hope it helps! |

If you use the tools they have here and you type in your BMI on the calculator - then you need to read it again. Or read it here because I checked it out for you. Based upon your current Body Mass Index (BMI) of 23.2, you are currently classed as at a healthy weight. You probably can't lose any more weight because you are at a healthy weight and your body knows it......your brain just can't comprehend that. If you still are not happy with your body - then try some exercising to tone your muscles but don't try to lose any more weight and for goodness sake - eat more than 200 calories a day before your body starts digesting itself. To properly build muscle you need protein. |

| I have tried several different ones and but not that kind. I do want to suggest that before taking a new diet pill you should check with your family doctor to make sure they are safe. Some of the so-called diet pills have certain ingredients that could react with other meds and stuff. | |||
| Weight Loss | i lost 2 pounds but i still feel ververy fat | Oct 10 2007 14:51 (UTC) |

Seriously girl, I was reading your profile and if you are truly 5'7" and weight 114 pounds - you do not need to lose any more. You are only 14 and your body is still not done growing. And I am sure that when your grandma was talking about how her little girl was getting so big - she was probably saying you were getting taller or looking older. If she did not come out and say you were looking fat - then don't interpret it like that. You should definitely not be obsessing about getting down to 100 pounds. That is just to skinny and with your body still growing then you are setting yourself up for alot of health issues later on down the road. |

| Weight Loss | HUGE Butt/ thighs!!!!!! | Oct 10 2007 14:36 (UTC) |

I have the exact opposite problem. My mom used to call me no-butt-Betty after an Aunt of mine that has the flattest butt every. It is not as apparent yet since I have a belly. But, I know that when I do lose the weight it will be very obvious. What I don't have in the butt area I make up for in the chest area. I have even joked around about getting butt implants before. But I would never have any type of surgery that would alter what God has blessed me with. I think you should, like me, embrace what you do have and learn to love yourself the way you are. |

| Yeah, there is no way this site would tell you that you need to weigh 84 pounds. That is how much the 6 stone is equivalent to. More than likely - this site was only set up to configure weight in pounds. Try setting up your profile like that and see if it looks a little better. | |||
| Weight Loss | Something I learned yesterday....for the water drinkers. | Oct 09 2007 18:37 (UTC) |

| Either way, I have decided that I would just limit my amount of caffeine. I stick to the one cup a day of the coffee and nothing else I drink has caffeine in it. To tell you the the truth - I drink so much water that I don't think there is enough room left in my stomach for any other fluid! I am trying to stick to water alone and when I get absolutely sick of just water then I will add some crystal light to it. That way I am still getting my water but I am tricking my taste buds! Thanks for everyone's feedback though - it is all helpful. And you are right, alyssandra, the caffeine thing for her could very well be related to her blood pressure issues. | |||

| One thing I like about the artificial sweetners is that I have found it takes less Sweet N'Low than sugar to make my coffee sweeter. I used to try to use sugar and would put like 4 packets and still not think it is sweet enough. I can put one packet of Sweet N' Low in my coffee and it is perfect. Not to sweet but sweet enough that I can taste it. You know? With the Weight Watchers, you can have a cup of coffee with one non-dairy creamer and one Sweet N' Low and it is still no points. If you add anything else you are looking at adding a point for just your coffee. | |||

| Maybe she just heard the doctor wrong. I have read both good and bad effects of caffeine, but I am convinced now that my one cup of regular coffee in the morning will not hurt me in any way, shape, or form. I find that if I have my cup in the morning - I have more energy and I can concentrate on my work better. Besides that, I tried to drink the decaf coffee which is a Starbuck's brand and I did not like it at all! It was way to strong tasting for me. | |||
