Binging is NEVER healthy. EVER. Both for you and for a lot of people who are starving. People die because of lack of food. Go on and talk about your favorite binge foods like it is perfectly okay. You should be ashamed. |

when i used to go i would order a garden burger and a freckled lemonade. but you get bottomless fries and lemonade so i wouldn't recommend it on a diet. and the lemonade is super sugary and has strawberries on top. i'm sure a couple of those would rake up a lot of calories fast. |

| Vegetarian | vegans--what's one thing you miss? | Dec 20 2007 16:39 (UTC) |

| hmmm... i had to think about this one. i guess i miss being able to eat out places. it's pretty hard to find something vegan on menus around here. baked goods. like muffins, cookies, and sweet breads. you can make them yourself of course. but i work at a coffee shop with a bunch of these things that aren't vegan and it sucks. everything smells so good but none of it is stuff i eat. we do sell ABC Cookies though. But for 440 calories and 12 grams a fat FOR 1 COOKIE, I would rather just wait to get home to eat something. But I guess a muffin has pretty close stats too. |

| Vegetarian | 2002 article- Dairy is not natural part of human diet... | Dec 20 2007 16:27 (UTC) |

| I don't think anyone can argue that drinking another species milk is natural. Just go through the thought process. What is milk? Food for young animals. So what is cow's milk? Food for young cows. What is goat's milk? Food for young goats. What is human milk? Food for young humans. Milk consumption as an adult is weird. We're not suppose to even have that enzyme to break apart lactose anymore. It's not suppose to be needed any longer. |

Original Post by cellulitedelight: I don't think it is EVER responsible to keep a baby that you could abort if you are a teenager. When you are a kid you should not have kids. Period. And what about adoption? We don't need more people on this planet. We can hardly support the consumption and pollution of this many people. We don't need more. |

- i measure everything to make sure that i am calculating it right. - i don't like eating things that don't go together. ex. i wake up late sometimes and someone will being making something lunchy. well i am eating a bowl of cereal. they ask me if i want a bite. i can't. i can't mix cereal with spaghetti. they just don't go together. - i only drink 1/2 cup of anything that isn't water. i pour 1 cup but 1/2 way through i give it to my boyfriend or whoever. - i love salsa but i don't really like tortilla chips. so i have started to put salsa on my rice or just end up eating it with a spoon. |

| Foods | Boca or Garden Burgers?? | Dec 13 2007 17:09 (UTC) |

| Some substitutes are gross. But it's a matter of opinion. Pretend to gnaw on animal flesh. I don't think that someone who is a vegetarian would want to do that. And 'poor substitute for the real thing'? If the real thing is filled with hormones, saturated fat, cholesterol and anti-biotics i will gladly take the "fake thing" then. Anyway, I think the best veggie burger is the one you make at home. You can make black bean, garbanzo bean, lentil, tvp burgers and mix in grains and vegetable to make them extra delicious and healthy. But I don't have time to make those every time. Amy's Burgers are the best I think. |

| Foods | TOFU | Dec 11 2007 16:49 (UTC) |
|
| okay, one mistake i made, DRAIN your tofu before marinading it. if you don't drain it of the water that it was packaged with than it will not absorb that marinade and it will taste disgusting. you can wrap it in a towel and put a weight on top of it or just squeeze it out with a towel or two, or three. the more water you can remove before marinading the better. just thought i'd add that. |

| I went vegan about three years ago and I did it for ethical reasons (animal rights reasons) but have continued to be vegan for so many more reasons. Since I went vegan I have lost about 30 pounds and my upset stomach. I used to get an upset stomach just about everyday of my high school life. Not just normal stomach aches but horrible aches that would leave me curled up into a ball and not able to move. But when I switched my diet over it just went away. I've had it maybe 3-5 times in three years since then. And not nearly as bad. |

| It really doesn't add that many vitamins for the calories. And as everyone else is saying there is no fiber. If you have a bad time keeping veggies fresh get frozen ones. They aren't as good for you as fresh but they are better than no veggies. |

| Foods | Do you calorie-count drinks? | Oct 05 2007 18:44 (UTC) |

YES!!!! A lot of people don't think about the calories they are consuming when they drink a cup of orange juice or milk with their meal. A 350 calorie meal can easily turn into a 500 calorie meal with a tall glass of orange juice.

Also vitamin D is produced by your body when you are exposed to sunlight. So you don't have to worry about getting it from food. 15 minutes of sun exposure on your face, arms and hands should be fine. |

I don't know if one of them is necessarily better than the other. Green tea has caffeine and chamomile does not. I do know that drinking too much green tea is not a good idea. |

Anyway, when I do have to eat them instead of a meal I usually like the ones that don't remind me of a candy bar. Because when my stomach wants food it's more tricked by something like Toasted Nuts N' Cranberry than Peanut Butter Cookie. |

| Foods | i think im eating to many vegetables? | Sep 23 2007 19:39 (UTC) |

| I think you should be fine. Just focus on getting a variety of colors in your vegetables and make sure to eat an adequate amount of calories that should also come from carbohydrates, proteins and fats. (the good kind. from avocados and nuts, exc..) It might seem to you that you are eating too many vegetables in comparison to the people around you but most likely it is that other people are not getting enough. |

| Weight Loss | Totally Freaking Out! | Sep 23 2007 19:28 (UTC) |

| When you start a diet the transition should be gradual. If you have been eating 2000 or 2000+ calories a day and then cut your intake down to 1200 and start exercising regularly your body is going to react to this sudden change. You should try to cut it down gradually to 1800 than 1600 until you notice an amount that is working for your weight loss. When you start consuming more calories after you have reached your goal weight you should do it the same way. Gradually eat just a little bit more until you are eating a safe amount of calories for you new weight [maintenance]. |

B-12 is a toughy. But there is also some debate over how well it is absorbed when this vitamin comes from plant sources. I don't see really why that would be but I am not a scientist either so I just don't know. |
