did the same exact thing. had a sensible breakfast (oatmeal), okay lunch (slice of pizza and a clif bar) then somehow backslid into a lot of clif bars (which i don't recommend... it's not friendly on the stomach) and general tso's with an egg roll.
i'm disappointed, bloated, and kinda gassy. but what can you do? drink a few glasses of water, set your alarm clock, and resolve to do better tomorrow. you're only human! |

i would just like to say that as someone living in new jersey, beloved armpit of america that it is, for the entire summer, with one unit air conditioner that i must run on a broke college student's budget (which is to say: hardly ever)... i empathize. immensely. people just don't realize how much worse humidity makes everything. the upside is that i'm doing great in all my summer classes because i spend my days hiding out in the air conditioned library on campus! |

i seriously feel your pain on this one. seriously. ever since junior high school (i'm in my junior year at college now) i have been timid about wearing skirts and shorts in the summer because i know 1) i'm going to get a painful burn that will take a day or two to heal and 2) it is very visible. for running, i usually get workout pants and cut them off above the knee (thus, i go for kind of cheaper sweats-type stuff so i don't feel bad about mutilating my clothes!). i too wear the longer board shirts style in the summer or if i really want to wear a skirt, i either make sure i'm not going to be walking too far or i cut up a pair of stockings to wear underneath. hopefully, soon this won't be a problem anymore! |

Hey there, I had mono this past winter so I totally empathize with you right now. I don't know if your doctor would consider this really active but I started swimming as a way of working out during it because I could go at a less stressful pace while still working. It helped for me, anyhow. Feel better! |

I'm the same way! At least with some stuff. I hate the taste of regular soda and whole fat milk. I think this happens when you go vegetarian too, because the other day I was out to lunch and my friend got a chicken parm sandwich (I got a veggie pizza. Drool.) and I remembered how much I used to love them. Well, she goaded me into taking a bite and I was severely disappointed! So greasy. So.. chicken-y. Bleh.

while we're on the topic, i was wondering... does anyone know WHY sbarro pizza calories are so much insanely higher than all other pizza chains? they have a lot of slices listed as 500+ calories PER SLICE! that's insanity! i'm sorry, i just find that crazy. are they dipping the slices in lard or something?? |

wow i know this is a little delayed but i wanted to say that i really actually totally did this the other day! i was out of the house for almost the entire day, and i swam laps for about an hour and half so it balanced out but it was still kind of embarassing. i eat big breakfasts anyway (usually 400-500 calories... i'm so freakin' hungry in the morning!) but it was literally 1000 calories, crazy. i don't have any great advice except that a lot of people say more protein keeps you feeling satisfied. just wanted to commiserate! |

I'd love to join in on this. I'm at 144, hoping to get down to 120 (to begin with, anyway... I'm pretty short!) I'm 5'2" so eventually I'd like to be about 110 but for summer at least I'd like to be 120. |

well i don't know about anyone else, but someones i'm craving something really carby (especially when aunt flo makes a visit) (oh wow, did i really just call it that? well, anyway...) while studying i find them to be really filling. bonus points on the chocolate ones since i'm preeetty much always craving chocolate and peanut butter. also, they're light so they're easy to carry on days when i have classes on different campuses and spend half my day on the bus :) |

| The Lounge | How weird is your tattoo? | Apr 18 2008 14:34 (UTC) |

I don't really know if mine is weird or not... I have a scene depicting the aurora borealis on my arm. (And also, a phoenix. I've heard that's pretty common?) But! I had a teacher in high school who had a huge Spiderman on his forearm, a pin-up Hello Kitty to represent his wife, and an Ultraman wearing a costume with his son's favorite colors. Kinda weird, but he had an awesome sense of humor about them. He was a big nerd but totally owned it (which is probably why I had a huge crush on him!) |

mpatitucci- that's the best thing i've heard all day. hands down. i love that baby one (ever see the standup comedian eddie izzard? he does a whole bit on babies tasting like chicken...) as for your roommate, that sucks majorly. i can sort of relate. my roomie is awesome and i really do love her, but she's got weird eating habits as well (not disordered, just odd. all she eats is tomato soup, tuna melts, and vodka pasta. and she's really secretive about eating. she's lucky that she has a great metabolism, i suppose). it sounds like you're on the home stretch though, so if it's only a few more months and then you're free of her i would say just try and tough it out so that you two can walk away amicably (but do by all means get the heck outta dodge!) |

| Weight Loss | Short and stocky group | Apr 12 2008 15:43 (UTC) |
24 |
Ahh, my people! Haha I can totally relate with this group. I'm 5'2", 145 pounds... and it's all hanging out on my thighs and my belly. I just recently realized I'm actually a pear, because when I was a higher weight my boobs were bigger but they're (naturally, sigh) the first thing to start shrinking! I have to say it is nice to be able to wear heels and not tower over guys, to be petite, and to be able to move through crowds quickly (just me? I like to dart around between people. No one ever sees me comin'!) Aaand.. although I put on weight extremely easily, I think the nice part about being short is that just losing a couple pounds shows. A lot. By the time I lost about 10 pounds people were already starting to make comments about how much I had shrunk! But you know what really irks me? This may seem totally random, but I hate how those fashion magazines like Elle and Vogue and whatever else will do "shape" issues where they tell "curvy" (totally relative, naturally, since usually those girls look to be about a size 10) girls what looks flattering, skinny girls what looks flattering, short girls what looks flattering, etc... but never curvy short girls! Either you're 5'10" and curvy or you darn well better be a little twig fairy sprite person! So a lot of times I find myself flipping back and forth between the "curvy" and the "short" sections, thinking, "Well, if I went for the curvy pants with a short shirt..." Blah! My question: what is flattering on us curvy short girls? Because I never seem to read anything on that, and quite honestly I am so fashion oblivious.. I could really use the advice. |

Safina, I feel your pain. I binged really badly both Saturday and Sunday. I think going home, seeing my mom, and being put through the emotional ringer (gotta love those guilt trips!) just totally did me in. Sorry guys, I couldn't even bring myself to step on the scale on Monday. Like, seriously, Sunday was possibly one of the worst I've ever had. I ate so much I honestly thought I was going to vomit and I gave myself a raging headache. I also passed out without doing any homework. So, anyway... not good. I'm just starting to debloat now, after two days of serious workin' out and seriously clean eating. I'll weigh in again next week when I'm feeling a little more human sized. Although... I did buy a bikini! I'm going to post a pic soon, it's so unbelievably cute! Target did me right after all, I just had to go to a non-Brooklyn store haha edit: er, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, that is. I am shamed. Sigh. |

Ugh- I hear you about the sweat ear buds problem! About halfway through my workout my buds ALWAYS start falling out, and I usually spend the next half an hour pressing them back into my ear. Annoying! I really want to get the ones that hook around, but for now... Annoying. Oh, and I go to a college gym, which is great/horrible because the employees there are all students! They basically sit around staring at you while you're working out, and there's this one guy who I think may hate me. I always catch him staring at me and he always looks like he wants to punch me or something. So unnecessary! Sigh. |

awesome- i got the ingredients for that on sunday so i'll be making it as well! i was also thinking maybe it could be really good mixed in with some pasta or rice? but i bet on a sandwich would be awesome. like some sort of yummy, beany sloppy joe :)
(and the fat-free ratatouille is next! i accidentally bought cucumbers instead of zucchini, but as soon as i get zukes i'll be making that as well. crockpots, who know? i think i'm in love!) |

| I have to agree. When I first got to college, I lost about 10 pounds. Although, I was really miserable and when I'm actually truly upset and not just stressed, I find I lose my appetite. Plus, like you, I didn't have a car anymore and was walking around everywhere. But then I made some friends and discovered the bus and I pretty much gained it all back and then some, haha! | |||
