It's the signiture move of the current generation. I can't win I think I'll quit. The end of the world has been coming next year for the next 40 years. Unfortuanatelly man will still be here in 1000 years unless the sun goes Nova or we catch a hugh pebble from space. It's never too late to think green.

Not sure how Hypothyroidism will fit in but your on about a 1 to 2 pound a week pace with that diet, so take heart. Your weight will not flucuate a lot daily up .3 down .6... You'll go to bed one night and wake up the next morning down 2 pounds and gain 1 pound back the next, for a million different reasons including:

Posture when you stand on the scale. Water retention BM retention Muscle gain

Busy mind. I can't sleep when stuff is rolling through my brain either. I do a thing where I try to concentrate on one thing. Like thinking of the work black. It's way easier than trying to think of nothing which i find impossible. Kind of like the old counting sheep thing. I've had decent success, though a 6 pack of beer does it for me every time. LOL.

Foods What is the lowest calorie beer? Jan 04 2009

miller MGD 64. 64 calories, 2.4 carbs, 2.5(ish) ABV. Means if your drinking to hold the beer in your hand with a friend you get half the alc they do in a reg beer as well. My advice if your not drinking for the buzz, don't. Just say "I don't drink, but hey i'll drive" drinkers love that more than anything and grab a diet coke. If you feel the need for the hang over bacardi 151 or what passes for it now, and diet coke. LOL. by the time you reach 250 calories you'll be sleeping.

Maintaining Cheat day Dec 13 2008
23:18 (UTC)

I dont think i'll plan cheat days. They happen when they happen. Yesterday i went out with my brother and ended up drinking a ton of beers probly 1500-2000 calories worth then got home and had chilli and crackers. I was laughing today once I got over the hangover. The thing is diet is what you eat, not something you do. If you eat the way you eat to loose weight and then shift back to how you ate before you'll gain your weight back with extra and repeat. So the answer is if you want to succeed you need to do have a system that allows you do what your gonna do for life. And yes you can eat more and maintain. Work off the calories the next day.

Weight Loss Weight Loss and Clothing.... What do you do?? Dec 13 2008

ya start with a belt. Buy stuff that is a size down but is stretchy. so you can grow down into them. It wont be the most attractive clothing but it depends on if you have money to go through clothing. Wearing the baggy stuff till you absolutely cant is fun IMO. People will notice how much weight you've lost all day long. It's a hugh encouragement. I'm lucky to be a guy t-shirts are good in almost any size can be bought for 6 bucks and all i need is 1 pair of jeans and i'm good to go for a week. LOL.

I currently wear a 50 pant (ugg) when i reach my goal i'll be wear 38/40. LOL. But i've been here so i have pants in every size between. Packrat FTW.

Weight Loss Busy People, how do we do this.... Dec 08 2008

Plan your stratagee. Healthy snacks dont have to be expensive snacks. Avoid buying things off the diet isle and instead look at fruit and veggies. A pack of tuna, a couple skim milk cheese sticks, a 1.5 ounce sleeve of nuts... Hard boil a dozen eggs and shell when you can. There are a lot of cheep ways to eat better and eating better need not take hours a day cooking. I cooked up 4 pounds of chicken breast, 2 pounds of lean hamburger patties, and 6 lean pork chops in under an hour that' most of my meals for a week. The key though is pack a lunch box with any meal you plan to eat and a snack for every 2 hours of your day and eat eat eat.

Weight Loss How many calories do you eat per meal? Dec 08 2008

B 300 - 600 snack 100-200 snack 100-200 L- 500ish snack 100-200 snack 100-200 D- 300-600

so if I hit all the high numbers i'd get 2100 calories on a deficite of about 1000. I dont really eat a dinner either that's 510 calories of peanuts at some point during the day.
Weight Loss Does a weighing yourself everyday help you lose weight? Dec 08 2008

Double edged sword:

There is nothing more encouraging then when you step up and your down another 2 pounds. There is nothing more discouraging then steping on the scale and being up 2 pounds from 2 days go and then having that weight stay there for a week.

I'd rather weight in once a week while loosing but I dont have the willpower to pass the scale in the morning. Lukily I know i'm on track if a bit low in Calories some days so I know when I'm up it's just retained water or the such.

At weight, ya, i'm gonna definitely keep a log so that I dont let myself get up more then 10 pounds over prime this time. I'm not gonna fight off 80 pounds again.

Weight Loss Trouble with Weight ! Help ! Dec 08 2008

The quick answer is unless you consumed 7000 extra calories in a day your body cant gain a KG of fat in a day. And even then I'm pretty sure you'd just pass most of it back out with and your body woudn't convert it. My weight varies up to 3 KG's between the time i go to work and 12 hours later when i come home and is normally back to the orig weight give or take .25 kgs, by the next am weigh in.

This is even confusing me because i use pounds. as a mesure. but i've got at least a 4 pound wieght diff at the end of the day from water and food not passed. When i get up it's gone.

You might find a new job either way. Though I'm not making a judgment no that. It would depend on weather you happy with what you do. As far as how it happened it's simple. A baby in the house means your home or at work most days. If you are young and slip out it is prolby for drinks and a dinner. Otherwise your activity level is down and your calories are up.

1. Get the junk food out of the house. If you cant get to it, it's a lot harder to eat. 2. The journey of a million miles starts with a single step. Get a stoller if you dont have one and take the kid for a walk every day, weather permitting where you are, or do a step routine in front of the tv. 3. I fought this for the last 10 years but in the end I have to concede: get a food scale and count your calories. I think you'll find that you are probly not eating enough food and that's why you are loosing control.

In My Opinion,

Weight Loss Biggest looser? Dec 08 2008

Cool. I mainly wondered because i'll prolby loose more like a 4 pound average for the first 6 weeks or so. I dropped like 9 pounds in 2 weeks with no tired feeling or hunger I didn't feed. Every time I start I learn new things. This time I've discovered that fresh is better then canned, lol, who'd have thunk it.

Weight Loss logging gum? Dec 07 2008
03:11 (UTC)

I'll specify to avoid confussion. It is digestable but need to be converted by the body and the effort of doing this is probly more calories then the calories in the gum. So even a half dozen piece of gum spaced throughout the day are not a big deal. Even when you weigh food there are a lot of varables so the caloric value is more then take in by this.

However, I would avoid foods that list 3 net carbs because they have 40 sugar alch.

Gum is sugar alch carbs and is not digestable as far as I know, so no.
Weight Loss What do you consider low carb? Dec 07 2008
03:02 (UTC)

I'm gonna agree with spirochete here. The first week goal is normally about 20 carbs or less to get you going and then 30 to 40 after that till you get to your goal. However, be smart and dont buy into the i can eat all the bacon and cheese and baby back ribs i want. The carb diet works even if you do that but if you want to maintain you need to think calories, something i fought for years.

Counted carbs are total carbs minus fiber and suger alcholes.

Weight Loss Is there a way to get full on a diet or do I have to feel like I'm starving??? Dec 06 2008
22:07 (UTC)

I feel stuffed at the end of every day. Almost sick of eating. Three things.

1. A salad a day at least. Look at a bag of salad it has less than 100 calories. I've started making my own salad dressing out of 1 scoope of may some mustard and a cup of water. I'm gonna read up and find a better mix item then may buy still i get a hugh 200 calorie meal.

2. Water, water, and more water I drink 3 to 5 liters a day.

3. Eat, eat and eat again at least every other hour. Low cal items in the right proportions. 1 ounce of peanuts or 1 cup of soy beans, 1 skim cheese stick, 1 Hard boiled egg, all the celery you can eat. Celery if you can stand it is a great snack, try it with a small bit of peanut buter or soft cheese.

I hate 1600 calories yesterday and ate every time i was hungry. If you have a day where you cheat on your diet be prepared to suffer for days to come with hunger pains after a few weeks they start to subside as long as you feed the need. Your body will get used to the lesser intake.

Foods Honey Nut Cheerios are now 100 calories per cup? Dec 03 2008

Nothing says you have to eat one servering of something in a day. LOL. eat 2.25 cups for 300 calories. Sounds like breakfast to me. Grin. Though i'm sure it's easier with the 2000ish calorie target i have.

Couple of things.

1. 120 pounds at 5'3 is not overweight unless your just twig build. As far as I can tell.

2. The leg muscles are the stongest muscles in your body and running burns a really decent amount of calories espcially when you pass the 25 min mark. So 500 is probly right for that workout.

3. You said it was fat. However if your running daily your gaining leg muscle, for sure and that's gonna have weight to it.

4. I'd probly see a doctor about unexpected weight gain. Odds are you are medically sound but they can always refer you to a neutritionist and get you help to get on the right plan for you if you actually need to loose weight.

Weight Loss Please shed some light, I've tried everything I know. Prune juice? Dec 03 2008

One of the reasons fiber works is it expands in your system. So as it moves through the digestion process oh so slowly it pusheses everything in its path out of the way and out. However, if you are eating a ton of fiber it can have the reverse effect and bind you up. In that case fat and a laxative and watch out.

Weight Loss how many calories do i need to lose weight??? Dec 03 2008
07:21 (UTC)

The general rule is weight x 10 -500. or about 2000 calories and going down as you loose weight. You can go as slow as prolby 1700 if you dont exercise, add calories if you walk or go to the gym or anything. the key is if your feel hungry eat something. I keep a few bags of salad and celery in the house because they contain almost no calories. Also dont forget water.

Weight Loss Woops! Only ate 1100 Calories Today Dec 03 2008

I hear what the last poster is saying. I too consume about 1800 calories a day. The biggest issue with a dip like that is the hunger the until you catch up. If you are hungry eat. If your hungry and hour later eat again. Small stuff. I really dont think it's an issue one day though. Many religions have a fasting period where people only eat or drink water. In addition people under medical care waiting for surgery can often go days without food. I'm not saying deprive yourself but the occational dip is ok if you pick it up when your body asks you too.

Weight Loss help, i gained weight Dec 03 2008

I put it this way. I weighed 319 yesterday and 324 today after after 1800 calories and 12 hour of work/8 hour sleep. I didn't gain 5 pounds of fat over night. So ya its mainly the gallon of water (aka 8 pounds) i'm drinking a day.

As to what you were origionally saying, there is no easy solution. Life is what it is right now. I'm still working on convincing myself that a change in eating habbits and exercise is a life long persuit. In the end you just have to remind yourself that it's not a race, and start plugging away at the 25 pounds again. It's hard not to be depressed when you step on that scale for the first time knowing your up. Now that you have the worste out of the way set your goals and be happy that you are on track.
