Original Post by moonikins: No, I haven't read the whole thing. I have read parts of it and the rest I have heard during church - we hear 4 readings per service; one Old Testiment, one New, 1 Gospel , and one Psalm. I comment because I have interest in the subject, and love history, I have lived at a seminary and enjoy the debate. I think the Bible is one of those documents that doesn't necessarily have to be read to be commented on. The "compliments" are my pleasure |

Original Post by moonikins: I will never say nor have I said the Bible is correct as written. I have never read the entire thing. I am a student of life and on a journey to learn, laugh and love. You have a tendency on these threads to be condescending and borish, thus cutting in to my learning and laughing time. Go eat a cookie. |

Original Post by moonikins: you may be assuming that I think Men have the brain capacity to keep their minds on creating and channeling the holy spirit in order to write a book in the gospel. The truth is that they were under constant carnal torment and their "other brain" the small finger shaped one, took over. This torment had the result of distraction, and women were punished because of course, THEY were at fault..... where have you been? |

Original Post by pgeorgian: Back to my first comment about the bible being chosen from a large group of books by a council at the vatican in the 13C. All Men, Look at history, men have suppressed women for centuries....so thats the document you have. Jesus had lots of women followers, who else was going to make the meals for Jesus and the twelve?? |

Original Post by kindlerenz: I love that image! As well as God Bowling when it storms. It was written by men, inspired by God. God created us in his image. He Created. He made us like him -- To Be Creative, which is were we get thinking, writting, making art, dancing, the whole lot - and when we are truly creating is when we are closest to God. I think that the men who wrote the books in the Bible desired closeness with God. |

Original Post by jules817: I believe that being Christian is a journey of questions, Not being sure that because I have read a particular book and go to church every Sunday, that I KNOW the answers!! Jesus questioned the Pharisees A LOT! |

Original Post by kae03: My grandmother has read the Bible all the way through every year since the age of 20, she is 85. Her favorite chapter is Ruth, the most difficult to get through is Numbers. I have always been inspired by her constant study and contemplation of the bible. Not to add fuel to the fire, but have you considered how many times and in how many different ways the Bible has been translated? And that there is no original? exept for perhaps the Dead Sea Scrolls? |

I understand that there is a Bible based diet, where you eat only what is mentioned in the text. I would extrapolate that going on an exodus from your place of residence for a generation would do the trick too. |

I think that it was the 13 C. when a group of high ranking Catholic guys got together to look at what had been written and decided what would be included and what wouldn't . From what I have studied about it, it was like these guys choosing thier favorites and excluding others that they didn't want to deal with cannonically. You might take a look at the Nostic Gospels. |

Great question!! I want to know too, and you beat me to the punch! I have stepped up my workout--30 minutes of elliptical everyday and once a week I add weights afterward, I was doing 20 minutes every other day of elliptical or rowing or stationary bike for quite awhile. I have done the new regime for almost 2 weeks. My philosophy; babysteps to get healthy. I hope we get some great feedback!! |

Hi Missie, You have friend here. I would like you to re-read the 5 very good points listed above - I think they are really good. Especially the gym...I find comfort on the elliptical machine, then a sauna afterward. It does so much for my feelings. Take some music with you! Meditation can do wonders too...because I think that one of the hardest things about being depressed is the little voice in our heads that says that "I am alone," "Im not good enough" "I am fat" - that is the voice of our inner critic that has a field day when we are depressed. There is a simple excercise that you can do to quiet your mind. Concentrate on your hands. Start with the right hand and realize how warm it is, tell it to feel warmer, then switch to the left, warming that hand. Go back and forth--- you will feel the warmth and some tingling. As you feel more quiet, relax your body, concentrating on each part. then, revell in the calm and quiet. If your mind tries to intrude, think upon a forest or a beautiful flower. I want you to think about the things you are grateful for - you might want to make a list. Look at the list when your feeling blue. You are not alone.

Welcome Karen and Angie!!! It will be great to hear from you and learn your story and about your journeys. Angie, Ellie Krieger on the Food Network has revamped some comfort food favorites so that they are healthy...they look good, and my husband and I are trying some of the recipes from Dr. Oz and Roziems hand book about YOU book, and they are great. I have been working on better eating since last October and I dont crave fast food anymore...I will admitt that I do crave cheesecake and chocolate, but all things in moderation. I got up and moved this morning and feel wonderful!! Won't ya'll join me???;)
EDIT: I posted as LUVHIM posted; Welcome luvhim!!!! |

Hi all! Sarah, this too will pass, and it does help to move when you are sore!! Those 2 year olds....oh man!! I feel your pain. Sue, you are in our thoughts and prayers at this very special time!! I am depressed today, I weighed in and haven't lost one pound. I have been working out, watching what I eat closely, and have been eating well. I don't understand what has happened and I don't know what to do about it. I worked out today on the elliptical for 25 minutes, the lady in the kids' room said I should do cardio for 45 minutes, but that seems like a lot to me - Im trying to take babysteps. |
