Sounds like a great goal meg and very realistic!!

I didn't do much exercise last week, and was feeling really guilty. So I spent some time exercising this weekend. I did 1 1/2 hours on my elliptical on Saturday and today (Sunday) I went for a 1 hour and 20 minute hike. I think that made up for not exercising during the week. This week I have a goal of doing an hour on my elliptical on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I'm excited about the long weekend. I don't have any Thanksgiving plans. My husband & I don't really celebrate. I have a craving for Indian food--so I'll probably get me some of that. Besides that we are just going to rent movies and take it easy. Anyone else have plans?

Sandy hows boot camp and the alcohol challenge?

Go meg!! Your doing great. Congrats on the 2 pound release. Keep doing whatever you are doing cause it is working. Glad you are healing.

Sandy: Yes I have to push myself to get my lazy butt up all the time!! Even if it's only 30 minutes, it's always painful. I hate working out but once I do it, I never regret it!

Right now the work-outs have slowed down. My hubby and I are getting ready to move and although I have time to work-out, I'm just making the excuse that I will wait until we move. Plus I'm cleaning and packing up, so I guess that could count as exercise eh?We are moving around December 1st and the new apartment comes with a brand new 24 hour fitness center. It has like 3 treadmills, 2 ellipticals and 2 bikes and some weights. I was thinking about getting a gym membership but I already get that included in my rent--so that makes me happy. So my mind is focused on December 1st. Besides that, looks like I'm slowly losing about 1 pound a week, I'm not complaining. Hope everyone has a good weekend :O)

New Place:

It's a luxury apartment, or so they say. Anyways. It has a washer/dryer (major plus), granite counter tops, gas fireplace and walk-in closet. The best part about the whole place is it has a 24 hour fitness center and it's all  newly updated with 4 treadmills and 3 elliptical, 2 bikes and a couple of weight machines, with 2 big flat screen televisions. I can't wait to work-out! I think this is going to be great for me. I have been really conflicted about getting a gym membership but this already takes care of it. Here is the website and some pics if anyone is interested or bored to look. Normally my husband and I wouldn't have looked at it but due to the holiday season they took $300 off the rent for 12 months, so that's how we got in--Love a good deal!

Hello!!

I'm doing good. Not feeling too hot tonight, think my body is trying to fight off a sickness. I have some oven fries and some onions in the oven right now. Yummy! Not much else going on. I'm still trucking on and losing weight. It's a very slow pace, but it's okay with me. Maybe this means it will stay off for a very long time??? I'm down 18 pounds currently, but haven't weighed myself this week. So we will see. 18 pounds in 3 months. So I'm losing about 1 pound a week. I would like it to be faster but honestly I don't really care. I'm not on a restrictive diet, so I'm happy and I'm exercising at a healthy pace. Right now I'm doing 30 minutes 5 days a week on my elliptical or walking outside on the weekends. I lurke most of the time but I'm here on CC every day --most of the time several days to lurk. Hope everyone else is doing great---love & meg?? I know it's getting to be Holiday season and the toughest part of the year to eat healthy. Let's come back and support one another :O)

The Lounge Does anyone see a therapist/counsler? Nov 12 2009

Hey Schnoo

I've been to therapist/counselor --they are the same thing. I say shop around until you find the right one for you. I had to try 2 therapist before I found the right one. Also, always ask if they have a sliding scale fee--that way you can get a discount. Sometimes local community colleges or colleges have discounts to people looking for counseling or sometimes through your insurance check and see what they offer. Nope I don't lay on a couch--but I sit on one. I talk about my problems and she listens and gives advice/suggestions. I function better in life because of my therapist. Remember if you don't click with the 1st one, try another one--If you just google therapist or Counseling centers in your area--then you can usually read their profiles and see if you think they would be a good fit.

Watchme:I heard Seattle Sutton is like nutrisystem...So my gut instinct is to go with the Alter Eatgo and have them delivered to??? Um do you have a neighbor that is always home, that you know? Or a friend that lives around the block?Or someone on your way home, that you can have it delivered too? Something....But I would go with Alter Eatgo....

You know my opinion. You work too much to cook yourself something healthy. So you need to have someone else do it for you. I think you should do it

And while you wait for it to start in November, I think you should try Amy's kitchen frozen meals. Very healthy and convenient. http://www.amys.com/

Mladdy:I know you love the gym but maybe a break? That's a lot of time to be spending in the gym and then I know you are very active with your jobs. I just don't see you needing that much time in the gym. I know most people would ask, are you eating enough? I dunno...I know everyone has to do it their own way..Who am I to talk? As I'm not even exercising currently but I'm with Dalma on this one, when I was exercising 2-3 hours in the gym--I did it for 4 months, I didn't lose any weight. So I went to see a personal trainer and she said I was overdoing it and that my body was exhausted. And all an exhausted body does is to  hold on to as much weight/fat as it can because you burn it out and it goes into shock. She also said it was really bad on my joints, and did I want to have a cane when I got older? Of course, I said NO...She said the MAX I should do is 60 minutes of a day in the gym. But like I said, I support you !

Hello people

I have been very busy celebrating my husbands NEW JOB!! After searching and applying for over 100 jobs for 1 year--my hubby has finally landed a job that he wants to do with a Salary. This is big...The most he has ever made is $11 an hour and now he is a Salary employee which is great! He also has health benefits which he hasn't had any in 5 years. This is such a relief and no longer a burden. I have been carrying the weight, which has been a struggle, living pay check to pay check. But no longer!! He officially starts November 2nd!!

On the Diet Front: I'm slowly losing and feeling good about my progress. I was just looking over my food journal and seeing where I can tighten things up so that I can lose weight faster. I have been sick for the last 2 weeks and haven't exercised so I'm ready to do that again.

Everything else is great. Now we are looking to move into a new apartment closer to his job. I hate searching for apartments because I just need the perfect apartment and those are hard to find. I'm trying not to let that stress me out but we have to be moved out by December 4th. Eh tis life.

Ally & Dalma: You two are my motivation right now, thanks for not leaving CC ! I know you girls are gonna get skinny and just skip out on us....

Keep on keepin on everyone else

mladdy: So good to have you back!!

I'm finally feeling better, I have been since Friday night. Saturday I spent all day in bed sleeping in and out. And Sunday, today I got up at 11am. So I'm hoping all the sickness is gone and out of my body. I went for a 4.7 mile walk today, feeling 100% back to normal. Hopefully that's as sick, as I get for the season.

Hope everyone else is doing good.

Hey Meg: So glad to hear your running! That's great....

Sandy: Your doing great, look at you!! I'm amazed...

I agree with you on keeping long term goals in sight. I have mapped out a 2 1/2 year plan to get my weight off in a slow and healthy way. So I'm right there with you.

Hope everyone is having a good day!!

Where is everyone? I see it's an American Holiday, although I'm at work--maybe the rest of you got off???

Anyways: I'm super super excited. My hubby just got a call for an interview, for a job, that he really really wants and I really really want him to get it. The interview is for Wednesday. So cross your fingers and toes and do whatever you do, to send good juju my way. There is only 1 position open and they are interviewing 3 people--eh..I hope he gets it...But I have to keep calm and realistic at the same time. So hard!

Watchme: I've been to therapy. I was going because things just got so jumbled and I just felt like I was in a rut. The therapist helped me to put things in a good perspective. The only thing I encourage you to do is shop around. Remember it's not a one size fits all and don't feel bad to look for a  good therapist that you feel comfortable sharing stuff with....I went for 6 months, let me know if you have any questions?I usually go off my 1st gut reaction , to figure out if a therapist is a good fit for me or not...

Dalma: I see your pretty torn about the whole Jay thing, have you thought about going to couple's therapy? Or mentioning it and seeing what he says?

I see I'm slipping on my eating. I'm starting to get a little relaxed. I'm going out to lunch with my co-workers today and then I need to nip it in the butt. One cookie has become 10 cookies....Time to reign it back in.......

Last night, my hubby was on the phone with his mother. I heart my mother in-law but sometimes I feel like some of the stuff she be talking about is none of her business.  Her and my hubby had a full blown conversation about why I'm not connected to my family and how I just need to forgive them and move on so they can be apart of my life (and my hubby didn't bring it up, my mother in law did). I'm thinking the whole time, "wouldn't this be more of an appropriate conversation for her to be having with me?" Not with my hubby. My hubby was defending me all the way and saying how I'm right in my actions. Hubby's mother is very religious...So she bases everything on faith and religion. Saying that God calls us to forgive. Of course, I'm not religious so I don't believe those things. I think that if someone hurts/screws you over multiple times and takes advantage of you multiple times that there has to be a point where you draw a line. Even if they are family. I mean when it comes to that, are they really family? I don't think so....Anyways. The last time I had a conversation with my family was in February.

So hearing that conversation. Made me look back on the past and see why I was even mad at my family in the first place or why did I separate from them? It's funny how time makes people forget things. Time also has healed me, well that and therapy. Lots of therapy for me. And I still believe I need further therapy.

Anyways, after all that conversation yesterday. I had a dream about my family last night. I woke up this morning and told my hubby. He said , "you see, you must not really be over your family, if your having dreams." oooo that got under my skin.....No, it's because we talked and talked about them yesterday. It does still bother me on some level. I do wish things turned out differently...But it's life and I had to make myself happy and be at peace.

Alright, so just a vent....lol

I'm so glad it's Friday. You ladies have no idea. I have to work on Sunday but I'm still glad it's Friday :O)

Dalma: The best way to test your Body fat is to get an under water test. The scale is said to be off and not the best indicator of body fat.

Hydrostatic Weighing

This is just a fancy way of saying underwater weighing. Like DEXA, this test is one of the more accurate ones. How it works:

  • You sit on a scale inside a tank of water and blow out as much air as you can
  • You are dunked underwater, where you blow out even more air
  • Since fat is lighter than water, the more fat you have, the more you'll float. The scale measures underwater weight to figure out body density.
  • The margin of error is around 2-3%, but the accuracy depends on the amount of air you expel. You have to blow it ALL out or it won't be as accurate.
  • This is a difficult way to measure body fat since it can be uncomfortable and even scary to be dunked underwater with no air in the old lungs.

Many universities offer this test for around $25-$50. Call your local university and ask if they offer this. Fitness Wave offers mobile hydrostatic weighing in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona for $49.95.

Que twilight zone theme music!

wow, I really need to look into the selfish thing.  I need to get some friends without feeling guilty.  Like I would feel bad if I do something with my new friends and Mounir stays home alone.  We moved here together and neither of us have any friends yet.  I have had some opportunities to hang out with someone else but I haven't done it yet cause I feel bad.  Wow, that is kinda dumb.

Yup I admit to this. My hubby and I have been living in Cali for a year now and I have only met work friends. And I have been invited places to go with work friends but always turn them down to hang out with my hubby.....We just hang out with each other and do things 24/7 and if he's not home then I just chill.......It does sound dumb when I say it too..I think I really need to start putting myself out there and making some friends. One of my excuses is I should wait until I lose the weight..that way I don't have to explain it..Another excuse I make is , "well we will be moving soon" so I shouldn't put in the effort  to make friends and then have to say goodbye.....eh....lol..i dunnoo...i hear ya
