Weight Loss I have to lose 20 kilos or 44 pounds in 4 months. Doable????? Dec 06 2007

I would recommend going to a nutritionist, I went to the local Max Muscle Sports & Fitness plus I have a few trainer friends that have also been diet coaches. The Nutritionist did a body fat/ mass measurement and was able to tell me my original goal based off of BMI was totally unrealistic. He also offered a meal/ exercise planner for an aditional cost but my friends were able to set that up for me at no cost. Just a suggestion, we can give you all the advice in the world without seeing or knowing you personally but that only goes so far...

It's possible, I've lost 41lbs is 3 months or so but I had 60lbs to loose total and do over an hour of intense cardio and weights at the gym on a regular basis. It only gets harder to loose the closer you are to your ideal weight... I wold think it'd be better if you could push that deadline to 6 months...

Since I started working my current job normally I don't get minor colds, they ussally end up being major unable to get out of bed for 3+ days need a IV cold... I have no idea if this works but I like to take Ecinacia along with more Citris, sometimes I'll do a mega dose of Vitamin C at the onset of symptoms...

Here's some information on preventing and treating loose skin and stretch marks. Loose skin was a concern for me but I have a ways to go till that concern will really be an issue... I think I'm young enough that it won't be a major issue and I only had 61lbs to loose which most it it I gained over the past 6 years...

I take my dog for a 10-15 minute run then about 5-10 min of walking afterward and I do this almost every night. My dog is a Border Collie, Rascal, so she has boundless energy and she easily keeps up.

WOAH, what a trip on of my foster dogs name is Rascal who is a border collie mix.... I have 2 Border Collie foster spots who rotate through plus my personal dog, so it is three times the fun and energy... :)

Weight Loss why is eating 1500 cals so damn difficult? Oct 30 2007

How many meals a day are you splitting the cals into a day? If you split the portions into 5 - 300 cal meals that might help... I normally eat 6 - 300cal with veggie snacks every day and sometimes I almost have to force myself to not skip meals... I'm never really hungy... It took about 2 weeks to train my body to be acustomed to this style of eating...

I don't have the underwear monster problem in my house... It's more of an issue with the sock monter(s). Their names are Siku, Maisey and Rascal and they have 4 legs, fluffy tails and pant alot... I came home from work today and found 5 pairs sprawled across my floor and 3 of them were unsalvagable... Apparently socks balls hidden in drawers allow for hours of entertainment. I have pictures of all of them posted in my gallery.

BMI doesn't work for me, I'd be anorexic and sick looking if I came close to the top end of the my BMI scale... I already had 146lbs of muscle mass before I started the diet and going to the gym...

Give a brief bio of you/how your diet is going/how your day is going: Well, I'm an EMT in Stockton, Ca and I do Border Collie Rescue. I recently joined the gym, I focus on cardio but also do some heavy lifting with friends.... I changed my diet last month on the 23rd, so far I've lost 25lbs, so... diet is doing good so far... My day has been decent, I made it to the gym even though I REALLY didn't want to go, felt sick and congested from the moment I woke up.... I just worked chest and biceps and didn't do any cardio at all... I figure it's ok since I did 45mins of intense cardio plus abs, machines/ free weights last night.... totaled like 2 hours last night...

Foods Suggestions for Packed Lunches? Oct 11 2007
14:15 (UTC)
I have to bring all my food with me to work, I work on an ambulance night shift, if I don't bring it, my only options are fast food or gas stations. Normally I rotate 4oz Chicken Breast on a serving of brown rice or whole wheat pasta with 2 table spoon salsa, 3-4oz London Broil on brown rice or whole wheat pasta with mustard, or a can of Tuna or other fish on rice. I'll toss in 2 tomato wedges, raw baby carrots, etc to get my servings of veggies. Most of the meals are 300 to 350cals a piece. I bring 2 snacks of apple wedges, cellery sticks and/or carrots with 2 table spoons of peanut butter. My diet is normally 2,000 - 2,200 cals a day and I have days my jaw is tired of chewing and I'll end up skipping a meal.

sickbxy - Welcome and hope you find the support you need to lose the weight.  Your plan sounds good but you may need to focus on one thing at a time.  Like for instance focus on quitting smoking then focus on losing weight.

Thanks for the welcome, I found out really good news today, I was going WAY overboard on my goal. I went to a nutritionist consult and he said my target weight needs to be 225 so that knocks off 41lb off my goal. I knew the BMI stuff was off but I didn't think that bad... I was already using the top end figure in my original goal. I am trying to not buy any more packs since my last pack went empty tonight, we'll see how long it lasts... quittting smoking will be a lifelong endevor for me and they seem to go together hand-in-hand like I read in the book The Best Life Diet. I notice when I go to the gym, I don't want to smoke as much and the food program seems to be fairly engrained already over the past month of doing it, I feel sick when I eat the old stuff...
Fitness Death at Marathon Oct 09 2007

Temp and humidity were higher than normal also having a large number of people in one area on asphalt contributes to the heat issue. He may have been able to run a marathon in his sleep but nobody can train for some conditions faced that day. IMO, although I wasn't there, I think it was poor judgment to continue the race under those conditions and for the runners to continue running. I also heard the organizers were ill prepared for the water/cup demand.

Weight Loss "You USED to be so skinny but now you have gained SO much weight!" Oct 09 2007

Along archer531 lines, my mom was the one who was constantly on me saying "you gained so much weight and you got so fat" bla bla bla. It would overtake almost every conversation we had when I would visit. It didn't motivate me at all and it's one of the major reasons I stopped wanting to see her and ended up not going to her house anymore. Well,  I just started out and havn't gotten to the point of loosing the weight but if I get there, I'm sure the conversations will be along the lines of "how fat and horible you used to look", probally won't make me feel any better than the "you are" conversations.

I would suggest some plain yogurt to get the bacteria in your stomach going again then gradually increasing meals to your old normal servings. Your stomach will tell you when it's done.
When I was a kid I was sent into the woods for 3 weeks with rice, lentils, bullion (sp) and whatever we found. When we got back to civilization, they made us eat the yogurt and then presented a feast of as much and whatever we wanted. Needless to say, we were barely even able to touch anything on the table.
