| Weight Loss | Messed up work schedule! | Jun 17 2009 21:03 (UTC) |
|
i know exactly how you feel. i work 6p-6a....and on my days off i revert back to day schedule. i don't sleep a lot but when i do sleep its not good sleep...i sleep a few hours wake up etc,......its a vicious cycle... i have felt terrible...sleepy all the time... lately i've been drinking a LOT of water, and eating more fruits/veggies which i think has helped......... but nights are terrible on our bodies! i'm anxious to know as well if this yo yo sleep schedule slows my metabolism to a crawl? |

hi there-
you sound just like me!! I just began my "healthy lifestyle" yet again. after about a million attempts.......this time started at 152 a few months ago and am currently at 139........ trust me--it's possible! i LOVE food.....but CC has really helped me make better choices and shown me that i can "splurge" on a cocktail or a favorite meal... just keep up with the exercise and jump back on track with the healthy eating the next meal or next day..................
good luck!!!!!!!!!!!! |

weigh in day *big sigh* well, went to FL for a few days... and started falling off- ate salty foods, and skimped on my water...and the scale shows.
weight today: 143 last week: 141 soooo, i'm hoping some of that may be water weight!?
either way- I jumped right back in today....went for an hour w/ the personal trainer. she started legs- squats lunges etc... w/o resting...then ran 1/2 mile on the treadmill as fast as i could...then worked arms and abs. she gave me an awesome plan today w/ a lot of things i can do at home. so in short- i'm still on track...thanks to you guys.... in the past when i've fallen off like this, I would quit....but I'M GOING right through it!!!!!!!!!! thanks for all the support everyone! |

kirsten and therria4-
The personal trainer is working out pretty well....I'm only doing 4 visits...just enough for her to make me a plan and introduce me to the scary weight machines i've been ignoring..... ( and to also give me good at home exercises to do....) I actually purchased the 4 sessions through a charity auction for $50...I didn't think that was too bad...
She seems to be very attentive to anything I may be doing wrong, which I like. If I'm doing something like weight lifting, I want to get the full effect

welcome to all the new peeps!:) TARITAKAYE- I have tried alli---I did lose some, but make sure you be drinking a lot of water, and getting enough fiber- ( I tended to get a little constipated- sorry to get personal...lol) and watch out if you eat something too high in fat...(the opposite occurs....) but honestly, It's plain old diet and exercise these days for me... the alli worked for me for a little while, but I found I began to rely on it, which I didn't like... it was like 'i can eat this if I take the alli... etc etc....' i've lost almost as much doing diet/exercise as I did with alli.... for me, it's better for me to buy new running shoes than to buy the alli- (because I took advantage of it..) hopefully you won't take advantage like I did, it gets very tempting. Good luck!!! |

To run a 1/2 MARATHON in may. Two years ago I came very close (up to 9 miles) but has issues with an ED and had to stop training... If anyone else is thinking of doing this, let me know...I need all the support I can get! (my running buddy moved away

WELCOME heatherbaby55! this group is awesome! I have found it to be very motivating- especially since we're all in the same age group. Trust me, I know all about loooooving carbs- Garlic bread w/ pasta is a HUGE downfall for me. You can still enjoy foods you love- for me, I choose healthier pasta (like whole wheat) and make my own garlic bread.... this is hard sometimes, ecspecially for us busy 20 year olders... that's where lean cuisines come in for me... they're quick and easy, but also healthy...and easy to log here on CC! fast food has been a big part of my life too, until recently. this who calorie count experience has changed me. instead of getting a burger and fries all the time, i'll opt for a salad and a small fry..... and a burger once in awhile.... I find myself not craving like I used to.
start picking healthier choices and you'll notice a change. it's SUPER DIFFICULT for us junk food junkies, but definately worth it.
Good luck and welcome to the group! |

I work 6p-6am at a hospital..(so times are approx.)
here's a typical 'workday'for me- I wake up around 1:00 p.m.- and treat that as my 'breakfast' time....I usually have a snack around 4, and 'dinner' around 8 or 9... and then about 1 I have another snack... I drink lots of water at work which has helped with my hunger ( I used to eat all night too!) I don't know if that's a good way, but it's been working for me. On my days off, I just flop everything the opposite way. (like eatings meals where they should be:) hope this helps you and good luck! |

I am a respiratory therapy student and also have "undiagnosed" exercise induced asthma...(I felt symptoms so my dr. ordered me an albuterol inhaler just to see if it'd help) ... I'd check how much one is without insurance- I usually take 2 puffs about 15 mins before I start exercising...seems to work for me......
Good Luck! |

i'm so glad I stumbled onto this group. I am 20 (almost 21!) and have been on CC for about 2 months... I have lost approx. 6 lbs and have 12 more to reach my goal. I have struggled w/ an ED so 'weight' in general has been an issue for me for quite some time. This time feels right though. NO PILLS, NO VOMITING- simply sensible eating habits and exercise....although I must admit, my butt is lazy when it comes to exercise...ecspecially MICHIGAN in the winter...(I hate gyms). I was doing pretty good for awhile, but my best friend (who was my exercise motivator) moved away and now I am in a rut... any motivation would be GREATLY appreciated! |

I love the 100 calorie packs- But i'm in the same boat, I find myself hungry all the time too. with work and college it's so hard to plan sometimes. I know they get tiring, but I've been TRYYYYYYING to opt for fruits and veggies first when I get a craving... it's def. not chocolate;) but gives me somewhat of a feeling of fullness. good luck!:) |
