Foods Addicted to cereal? Dec 03 2008

Those cereals that come in a box with commercial names (which is what I supose you're eating) aren't that healthy as they wanna make us believe. They have been severely manipulated and most of the "good stuff" that the cereal contained dissapear. Furthermore, because they are so processed, the body needs a lot of vitamins and work to digest them, and that is why most cereal come with added vitamins, which we all know are not as good as the natural ones.

Also, a lot of cereal sell themselves as healthy and full of dietary fiber, like for example the Special-K cereals (I do not know if you have them in the States or UK), but they are actually not. Most of them contain only 3 or 4 grams of fiber per 100grams, which is nearly nothing when it come to a normal ration of 30grams.

Hope this helps you get over your addiction!

Leopardrayne,

I don't think you need any help with your report! You seem to know pretty well what to eat! I really recommend to lower down your daily salt intake. I don't think people are conscious enough of the consequences of eating too much salt!!!

selene,

hahaha yes honey, 100lbs of muscle weights the same as 100lbs of fat, but with 100lbs of muscle you could probably fill 500 mugs. With 100lbs of fat, you could probably fill 700.

See the difference? You might look thinner than before, but if you have reduced the amount of fat and enhanced your muscles you will still weight the same. See what I mean?

It is good to have a lot of muscle mass. Muscle burns more fat than the fat itself and it keeps your body going on and on.

Hope this helps.

Jonas,

if the sugar comes from fruit then I do not think it is a problem. Everybody knows it is healthy to eat fruits! 3 pieces of fruit a day is actually very good. You should have 5 rations of fruits-veggies all together.

Selene,

You had cake and you only had 48% of carbohydrates? What was the cake made of? butter?

48% carbs is a bit too low. Your sodium intake is also very high, as well as your saturated fat. So I'm thinking less chips and more fruits would be good for you! Try to cook your own soups! Already prepared soups aren't thaaaaaat healthy!

regards,

Toni!

MV3,

Thanks for all your posts! I don't usually check the posts everyday! So, let's check your chart!

Because you are working out, as I have read, I would assume it is ok for you to have 24% of your calories coming from protein. This way, you will gain some muscle, which you obviously know weights more than fat. Alcohol 0% is also very good. I thought people in the States used to drink a lot! None of you seem to be drinking, except for the "birthdayers".

Your daily sodium intake is on it's limit. It would be convinient for you to try to reduce a little bit the amount of salt you eat. Eating less pre-cooked food is a good way to reduce sodium intake, as you can control the amount of salt you add to your food if you cook it yourself. Your sugar intake is also a bit high, but as somebody mentioned before, it also includes the sugar from the fruits! So we'll hope this is where they come from! Saturated fat intake 9grams and choloesterol - ok! Fiber, 23 grams - very good.

Best whishes!

toni

your report is pretty good. You could increase the amount of protein, and also reduce sugars. Saturated fatty acids, sodium and fiber are perfect.

gibbit,

no, you are not balancing everything well. There are a couple of things that need to be fixed. First of all, the amount of protein you eat should be around 15%. Your carbohydrates should be 60% and your fat should be around 25%.

Your daily report shows you are NOT eating correctly. Your sodium (salt) intake is way too high. Excessive salt in your body can cause several illnesses. You should look that up on google.

Second, your fat intake is amazingly HIGH. What the heck do you eat? One burrito after another? 341 grams of sugar? 70 grams of fiber?

The only thing i see right here is Alochol 0.00%!

Improve your diet now!!!

hahaha Thank you! I love ginger, specially with sushi, but i'm not sure how i will like it on yogurt! I do love honey with yogurt, but ginger? Will have to try. It will need to be fresh ginger anyway, I believe. Which is hard to find here, in Spain.

But thanks!!!!! Not so much into mushrooms! Though i love chiitake!

Ibez,

Your protein, cholesterol and salt level are relatively high. I'm thinking too many burgers here!! You should try to keep your protein levels at around 15% of your diet, and carbs at 60%. Salt intake should not be more than 2400-2500.

Already prepared meals have big amounts of salt. Try not to have so many of those. Fast food is also loaded with salt.

Hope this helps,

Toni.

lillysmonimpa,

Yes, it is good to eat high quality proteins when you are going to the gym, but only if you are trying to gain muscle mass (which is heavier than fatt).

To be honest, I am surprised you guys are eating so well! I was expecting some terrible reports! But they are all pretty good! Congrats y'all!!!!!!!

you should reduce the amount of fat you eat, it should not go over 15%, and protein is also slightly high, it should be around 15%. Carbs should take about 60% of your pretty appreciated calories. The amount of sugar is also a big high. I will supose it comes from apples?

XOXO

Haley,

your report shows you are not having a very balanced diet. Your % of fat should be around 15%. Not eating enough fat is not good for your brain. So unless you have a lot of things to forget, keep those nuts up on ur diet!

Also it shows you are eating way too much meat. Your report does not show your daily calorie intake, so I cannot really see whether you just ate , say 700 calories spent on a burger and 2 cookies either.

0% alcohol will keep your heart healthy!

Hey! Your report is really good! Sugar intake is low, as well as sodium and cholesterol. You should also try and eat less meat and more carbohydrates, like cereals, bread, rice, pasta, etc...

Thanks for ur post!

Hey! Your nutrition is ok too! You should try to eat less protein (meat) and more carbohydrates (fruits, cereals, pasta, rice, bread). Also, you should try to reduce your sugar intake, as it is 3 times bigger than what it should be. Sodium is on its limits. Good amount of fiber.
