a fun low cal snack I ran across the other day... small size wheat tortilla (or the like) with a small amt of peanut butter, banana slices, apple slices, maybe a dash of coconut... or whatever other fruits you and the kids like... perhaps kiwi. In general when you do your pasta dishes, load them up with lots of veggies and less meat and cheese. Also, perhaps cut back on the steak, for $ & calories. Extra lean ground beef is prob better. Don't forget about frittatas w/ lots of veggies and some cheese. Skip the crust. oh and I also read about mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes. Do a little internet research to find a good/low cal recipe and then don't tell 'em it's cauliflower (until after they rave about how delicious it is ;0) ) |

I experience a lot of gasiness and bloating when dieting too - eating healthier. I've never heard of fennel seed to combat this. I have some in my spice cabinet. Thanks for the tip - I'll give it a whirl. As for the gas, atleast your eating healthy! Everyone has it. ;0) |

DASH: stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. Not related to Mrs. Dash, but yes all about a very low sodium, low fat way of eating. Basically based on your caloric needs you eat certain amounts of fruits, veggies etc. The goal is to not eat things over 5% fat or sodium and always under 20%. I'm eating 4 servings of veg, 4 of fruit, 2.5 dairy, 7 grain, 1.5 meat... the servings are like 1/2 cup fruit or cooked veg, 1 cup raw veg, slice of bread, 3 oz of meat...I'm loving it! I've only been doing it for a little over a week and I reduced my BP from around 150/99 to 130/77. I also got an at home monitoring kit. I can't believe my doctor didn't even suggest diet! He just said he wanted me to get more data for him over the next month since I only go to the doc once a year or less...they didn't have much. Yes I've been exercising too...only lost about 4 lbs...but not complaining!! Here's to staying off meds!!! |

| Motivation | I'm Back!!!!! What are your goals? What keeps you motivated? | Jan 08 2008 20:00 (UTC) |

You know the fact that I started bubbling out of my size 10 jeans and into my old 12's is what motivated me to get back in the game. I'm upset with myself for letting myself gain so much back - especially when it's sales season for buying new clothes! I refuse to buy any twelves, so I'm missing the great prices!! LOL. Thanks y'all! |

| And if you're going to a gym on a military base, the staff will show you how for free. That's awesome that you're going to do it!! So don't be shy to ask for assistance. It's how I learned. | |||
| Weight Loss | Burn Meter- Can I Add Sitting at Work? | Oct 10 2007 20:39 (UTC) |

I've lost 30 lbs on here and have just around 19 more to go. I too have set my setting to sedentary because for the most part I'm seated at my desk in the office. I only log activities outside of that...like walking my dog, cleaning the house, treadmill or if I have a busy day at work doing things not at my desk like lifting blueprints, deliveries etc...I'll log that. Otherwise the sedentary setting includes "light office work". Best of luck! |

First of all congrats for not going over your limit. Sounds like you are depriving yourself of some foods that you are passionate about. Why not try a smaller portion of the brats sandwich...like just half or even quarter and add on the side lots of veggies or something else low cal and satisfying. I know with me I need protein to help get that full feeling. Potatoes, carbs in general keep me going back for more even if I'm full. Oh and by the way, it's okay to go over every once in a while. Remember it takes like 3500 extra calories to gain a lb. And I've lost 30 lbs on here...looking to lose my last 20. We can do it!!! PS My husband is a bad influence too. Last night he had me pick up McDonald's for him! Grrrr.... |

| So Coach_K what you're saying is the 1600 reccommended daily calorie intake that CC came up with is what my body needs to function, but that if I only consume 1200 calories a day I will lose weight by burning 1700. I'll eat more if I burn more of course. So why does this new CC tell me 1600? The old CC would reccommend the calories needed to lose weight. That's why I'm confused. | |||
| The Lounge | are entry-level jobs for everyone?? :( | Sep 28 2007 04:28 (UTC) |

Sounds like you're just not finding the right entry level job. So you're wanting to go to school for translation? how bout a paid intership at a job related to that...or if you are currently fluent in multiple languages how bout offering your services as a tutor? I'm not sure of your entire skills and/or background, but there is a world of jobs....at all levels...you just got to think and go after what it is that you can tolerate or that might further your ultimate goal. Good luck!!! |
