| Health & Support | Father is terminal, how do I maintain healthy weight loss? | Oct 19 2009 14:33 (UTC) |

Hang in there. It can be a roller coaster ride, but perhaps you need to concentrate more on your Dad than your weight right now. Maybe you can take a few power walks now and then to clear your mind and to get some exercise. Mothers can be kind of tough on us sometimes, mine no exception. I too, was much closer to my Dad than Mom, and for the months after his was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, I was there for him. Mom is still a puzzle to me, but she probably thinks the same thing about me! When I stayed with Mom while Dad was having an aortic valve replacement at 92, she would just stare at me! Like she was wondering who I was. (She told me later it was because she hadn't realized how much I looked and acted like my Dad) We fought a lot over stupid things. All the time this was going on my office was falling apart and I was trying to run a major election at home. Somehow, though we got through it and a few months after my dad died, I was able to focus on me and my weight and mental issues with my Mom. We are only capable of so much and maybe weight is one issue you could put on the back burner for a while. I completely feel for you and think you are a very courageous young woman. I am in my 60's and have more life experience , but it makes no difference in the hurt. My heart goes out to you! |

oh yeah, you have to have milk with p-nut butter! There is not other way in my opinion.....kind of like chocolate with popcorn-why is that?( Junior mints or iced chocolate milk in particular.) My Dr had me on the "Sugar Buster" diet for a while a few years ago, and I found it interesting how hard it is to find things with a low sugar %. I did learn a bit about label shopping though and that is when i found natural peanut butter-and fell in love.......much better than those others. As I said, I don't like sweet peanut butter. I put margarine or butter on the bread with the p-nut butter and my family thinks I am truly NUTS!!! |

Oh, I did add more water, it just wasn't good. I don't know why, but I just did not like it! But, unlike lilrebel2, my taste for peanut butter hasn't changed because of it or anything! |

This has turned out to be quite interesting. Thanks to all who participated! I had much better response than I expected. It is (without exact calculation) about four to one in favor of PB2.....I hope that will give some direction to those who want to try it, but weren't quite sure! (The information about the samples was great!) And, I think I might have discovered why I didn't like it (PB2).....I do not like sweet p-nut butter and a lot of responders indicated they mix it with jelly, jam, honey or something sweet. And, since I don't bake much, I was not adding it into cookie dough, etc. So I will stick to my unsalted roasted peanuts in the shell............just like the squirrels!

Thanks Bobbie (robin9395) for the post about the sampler pack! That would be a great way to introduce it to those who don't want to go all out before trying it! I just wish that was what I had done! Vicki |

As of this morning, the yes votes really outweigh the no votes, and I am surprised! Several have never tried it or even heard of it, so maybe they will become fans, who knows? Thanks for answering though-it has given me a fair assessment. Personally, I cannot stand it! |

"what is it?
See the link that Clairelaine has above. http://www.bellplantation.com/ It is basically dry/powdered peanuts (butter) that you mix with water or other liquid to resemble real peanut butter. |

I too am a peanut butter addict and when I first joined CC I kept seeing a lot about it (PB2). So, since it sounded so great, I found a store kind of close by that carried it so the shipping wasn't outrageous and I bought two jars. Oh my gosh, I could not stand it! I tried a couple times, but it just tasted like finely powdered sawdust. After unsuccessfully trying to pawn it off to my grandson who also loves peanut butter, I threw it out-both jars! Either stick to the regular p-nut butter or give it up which I did because I finally figured out that it was sabotaging my diet. I only let myself buy a VERY small jar every six months or so, but I buy roasted unsalted peanuts instead. Takes longer too eat so I don't eat as much and they are good for me AND the squirrels! LOL |

| Weight Loss | Who has lost weight and REALLY kept it off!!! | Sep 09 2008 18:34 (UTC) |

I am probablynotthe best to compare, but I have lost 29-30 pounds since Sept. 26, 2007 and so far have not had any trouble keeping it off. (An occasional up a couple pounds, but those are easy to keep at bay) I don't particularly eat healthy, but try to not really bad foods. I have found foods that fit with my day....time, calories, eating habits (I am an evening muncher) and it seems to work well. I am horrible at exercise, but need to before have a stress test the first of c......it is so boring and there are things I'd rather be doing! I Guess my be to find some low cal foods you like and can live with day after day and see how it works. I think you CAN keep it off! |

| Weight Loss | Do you weigh dressed or undressed?? | Aug 23 2008 14:09 (UTC) |
11 |
I would answer, WHY would you weigh with clothes on? Everything you wear would have a different weight, so you would never know your actual "body" weight. I have a friend who is so strict with it, she even blows her nose before getting on those scales! Now, I think that is a bit obsessive, but I do weigh (once a week only) in the early morning, after bathroom and before eating or drinking anything. It is the only honest weight and that is what I want. I suppose if you weighed every time with the same clothes on, it would be ok, but still, I'd rather weigh naked. Is there a reason you wouldn't want to? Well, I guess if you lived with a bunch of people and your scales were in the living room. I think I might even have something on, but it would def be the same thing every time and I would know exactly how much it weighed! |

I LOVE BK Whoppers and have been craving one. I used to live close to a BK and the smell was so wonderful! Our BK was recently torn down and rebuilt, but they REALLY scrwed up----the drive through sux....can't get out of it very well..........they are not getting much traffic after the first two weeks of re-opening. I can't believe they did that. Anyway, after reading your post, I think I will have to succumb this week and get that whopper. Haven't had one for probably 8-9 months! mmmmmmmmmm! |

| Weight Loss | How do you avoid a plateau? | Jul 13 2008 02:03 (UTC) |

I did plateau, and when I finally realized what I was doing, I could have kicked myself. I was (am) practically addicted to peanut butter and I think I was "cheating" myself with a tablespoon here and there and forgetting to log it. When I decided that might be the case and stopped buying p-nut butter, I started losing again. I also do the zig-zagging a bit whenever I feel I am slowing down. I am losing slowly too, about 1/2 Pound a week and I can tell I am not wanting nearly as much to eat as I used to. Good luck! |

| Motivation | Tears & Crying | Jun 15 2008 13:48 (UTC) |

I think it is just different for guys. They try to not let their emotions show. But you are right, it does make you feel better. What made you cry when you were little? Hurt, disappointment, anger, frustration? Maybe you just don't have those right now???? Right now, my big tear jerk is driving through the little town of Greensburg where a year ago an EF5 tornado completely destroyed the town. I cry EVERY time I drive through there. (Only have to about every month or so) There is 1st of a 13 part series on tonight on Discovery's Green Planet channel that I will watch and I KNOW I won't keep the tears from rolling. In fact someone sent me the video of the 1st show and I started to watch it at work, but had to stop because I was crying. My dad died a year and half ago and whenever I think about him, I usually cry. My Mom hasn't been able to cry and they loved each other very much for over 70 years, so sometimes, it just doesn't happen, for whatever reason. I am going to take some tear jerk movies to watch with her soon. (She needs to cry........) |

You are going through the same thing my granddaughter is going through. She is afraid to not keep her so called friends, but realizes they are bad for her and her life plans. She had a scholarship to a university and chose to stay in her hometown to attend community college for two years. It si such a struggle for people at your time of life. It is like leaving the safety and comfort of what you've known. (Like leaving your mum-leaving the "nest"). You will learn that friends change throughout life, more than we ever think they will! If you have one or two really GOOD friends, hang on to them! My really GOOD friends didn't even come my way until I was in my late 40's, so don't despair! I think your recognizing the fact that those friends are not good for you or to you is positive step in your favor! Hang in there! You should probably make the choice to go to the better college and give yourself a chance to a better life! Sorry to "rant", but I wish my granddaughter would listen. She is really struggling with her friend issues! |

YES! I am exactly like that! I DID stop buying it becasue it finally got into my head that P-nut butter was what was keeping me on a plateau. Once I got over it (almost) I started losing again. But, like you, I thought I could handle having one tiny little jar at home----------WRONG! It is like an addictive drug almost. I didn't go through the jar really fast, but has emptied faster than I expected. So, what i plan now is to only eat p-b at someone else's house---my mom's or my daughters, that way I at least get a taste once in a while! I even tried the PB2 I heard about on CC, but it is so gaggy that I threw it out-expensive as it was! |

Just don't get discouraged. I went through the same thing. I had been steadily losing and then got stuck- for longer than I thought I should- but upon the advice of many I tried to "eat up" and it finally kicked in. I have been losing slowly at about 1/2 pound a week and I am REALLY happy about it. It's like I hardly work at it at all! Every few days I eat quite a bit of food and then cut it back for a few days. I even splurge with pizza every once in a while! Sometimes I had to make myself eat to even get the recommended calories, but I have lost almost 30 pounds since September and I am no longer discouraged. I am THRILLED!!! Hang in there! |

| Foods | Killer Vinegar! | May 26 2008 14:11 (UTC) |

I wonder if your Mum meant eats up your bones because: "Vinegar is an acid which attacks calcium and weakens the bones. The bone in the vinegar is much softer and more brittle then the other bone.Osteoporosis is a bone disease that weakens the bones. Calcium is a mineral found in milk which strengthens the bones and this is why your Doctor tells you to drink lots of milk!" http://www.ict.mic.ul.ie/websites/2002/Nuala_ OSullivan/experiment.htm So, I would be a bit cautious with it even though in some portions vinegar can be good for your health. I'd ask your Doctor to be sure! Vicki |

| Health & Support | Why don't they shrink? (women only please) | May 14 2008 19:37 (UTC) |

I am just the opposite...mom and sis have big ones, mine are smaller. But, back to your question, are you sure your breasts are NOT smaller? Just because your bra size and/or measurements are about the same doesn't necessarily mean they are the same size as before. I have lost 25 lbs and my bras were not fitting any more, so I went to get new ones....same size for the most part. I was in a 40B, bought one 40B and one 38C, so I think it just depends on the rest of your chest. The way they fit bras is different everywhere I think-I checked online and was amazed at the options! I may be wrong, but those are my thoughts. |

| Recipes | Anyone have any PB2 recipes ?? | May 02 2008 01:21 (UTC) |

I am sorry I didn't like it too! I LOVE peanut butter and realized it was why I had plateaued....I was sneaking it at night by the spoonful and not logging it. So, after reading so many posts about PB2 I decided I should buy some...........and I am just so disappointed.....it really is gross............like powdered drywall or something. no flavor anything near peanut butter. I am not sorry I tried it, but just sorry it doesn't taste good. I even found a store fairly close here in Kansas so I didn't have much shipping....well at least not as bad as the actual website! The people at that store said they liked it too. Anyway, I am struggling with not having any peanut butter and so far have been able to pass it up at the grocery store. Last trip I did pick up a jar though-----scary! Don't know how much longer I can hold out! I may have to go over to my daughter's and just have a sandwich for lunch-------that way it wouldn't be in my kitchen tempting me! LOL I see that a lot of people sweeten it, but I like p-nut butter for it's salty taste and wouldn't have liked adding syrup or pudding or the like. The PB2 just has a weird taste. |

I would certainly use it IN something because alone it tastes really bad. I was one of the suckers that ordered a couple of jars because I had seen it discussed on here.....being SO good and all.........I sure wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
In fact, I have an unopened jar if someone wants to buy it from me and pay the shipping. Make an offer!
